Glasgow 2024-2025 (c/o 2029 hopefuls)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does anyone know how they score the ERT? Do they look for certain keywords or phrases? I've taken so many ethics courses that the topics were rather non-controversial to me, plus I have really bad testing anxiety and that timer got to me so I'm nervous I didn't respond with the depth they were looking for

For anyone curious last year the timeline for me was Oct 13 I was sent an email that my ethical reasoning test had been scored and my application had been advanced to interview. I was then given a link to sign up for a mandatory information session (2 dates were given Oct 31st and then one in Nov) and after attending the information session we were sent a link to sign up for available interview slots. My interview was in Nov and I was given an offer of acceptance on Dec 19th via email. Good luck everyone 🙂

Thank you for this! They might be a little behind this year but at least this gives us a comparison. Is there any advice you can give about the interviews? I haven't been offered one yet so it may be a bit presumptuous of me but this is my top school choice so I am crazy nervous

I genuinely recommend being yourself and just showing your true passionate personality! They were SO NICE honestly one of my more laid back interviews. I even fumbled a bit on the conceptual questions they asked me but they told me they could tell I was good at using my critical thinking even if I didn’t know the exact right answer every time! Be confident in yourself and let your achievements and interests shine through 🙂

What kinds of concept questions would they ask?

I did not receive anything yet too
Don't give up! When I emailed about when I might get my ERT, since I applied directly and not through VMCAS, the response I got definitely made it sound like they are still sending out in batches. One of my friends that got her test before me suggested they are going alphabetically

Not sure how much I’m allowed to talk about it but I’ll keep it general.. I was asked some conceptual questions about logistics in clinics surrounding some commonly seen or used medical terms/diagnoses/preventative services

Anybody hear anything from Glasgow yet??
IMG_2677.jpeg
Just to clarify my previous question, I was wondering because Glasgow reached out to many of us last week with this email that they will let us know if we passed the ERT test today. I still have not heard anything, so I’m just hoping they didn’t lie to us lol

I haven’t received any emails regarding the ERT, but I noticed in my platform it is already marked as graded. Hopefully they’ll let us know more soon.

Did you accept your offer? Slash if you did, are you liking it?!

same here! The ERT is graded and passed but no slots available for the information booking as of now.

I checked my ERT before and it wasn’t passed. Just checked it and it’s passed for me too! Hopefully they get back to us tomorrow.

I got this email but when I go on my portal it still says I have to receive my grade for my ethical reasoning test so I can not an information session. Is anyone else having this problem?

I got an email this morning! I got an interview! They said that interview times will be available for sign-up soon!
I did my ethical reasoning test on oct. 6th, the portal does not show my grade. It just says I have a passing grade.

Question, does anyone know what the funding/financial aid works for students coming from the United States? Asking in hopes that I get accepted lol

Do you feel like Fafsa gave you enough to cover everything? I'll most definitely be living off campus if I get in
Fafsa gives u the max COA aka cost of attendance which Glasgow sets it includes EVERYTHING like housing booos tuition fees etc it’s exactly the same as a stateside school does the process. Usually people take out this max amount or less to save loans wise lol

Since we're talking about FAFSA, I have been rejected for any funding over the past 3 years because I had a previous bachelors degree. So I've been paying out of pocket to do my prerequisites for vet school. Do you know if my status for FAFSA would change, since technically vet school would be a professional or higher level degree? IDK what I will do if I don't have any funding. I guess take out a personal student loan but that would suuuuck!

If you are enrolled in a veterinary program you should be 100% able to take out loans through fafsa I’ve never heard of anyone being denied loans in this way

Hi! I haven’t heard anything from Glasgow yet 🫥 not even ERT, the last time I heard from them was in August and it was an automated email I believe. Any insight? Thanks 🙏

Hey! Did you apply through VMCAS for the September 15th deadline? I applied through UCAS (Oct 15 deadline) - wondering if it’s a bad sign that I haven’t received anything regarding the ERT yet.

I checked earlier and my score has been checked as passing but I haven't gotten any emails yet.
Id say if you haven’t heard from them you should definitely email especially if it says passing and they had said they’d email on Oct. 21. It could be a mistake on their end!

I’m mainly asking because I was checking and this was on the page where you begin the test, I haven’t had it say fail or pass or even emailed.

Yea honestly I’m not sure bc last year I never even looked at that page again so I was never aware if it said “pass” or not but they also were moving like 3 weeks faster last year so it was a really quick turnaround from when I submitted it and when I was asked to interview. They’re incredibly kind and responsive if you emailed I’m sure they’d be willing to help / let you know what that means!

Yes, it is considered a professional degree and you can qualify with a bachelor’s since almost everyone in this category will have one. If you’re considered a dependent legally (under 26) you’ll also be considered independent and the only income considered is yours (or a spouse) if

Is anyone attending the information session tomorrow? I checked my portal (never got an email), saw that I'd passed the ERT and was able to sign up for an information session. The timing is a bit confusing though because I'm not sure if it UK time or EST that I set my profile to.

I'm on EST and was confused too lol checked with someone else on here - it's 1pm EST we think 😃

I clicked on the zoom link just to see what it said and it made it even more confusing lol. It said "the meeting is scheduled for Wed, Nov 13"
I played around with my time zone settings and it changed depending what I clicked so I think 1pm is right (hopefully).

It’s GMT time zone

That's kinda strange... I passed but don't know my grade. I think you just need 9/15 to pass
But I don’t know if I passed. The grade received is checked marked, but the received a passing score is the same. I would assume if I didn’t pass it would have an “x” or red.

Not everyone gets an interview! Like not even close tbh the pool is slimmed by the scores of the ERT and is quite competitive as they cut many people after it. The interviews are conducted with you and 2-3 faculty. It was a more laid back format than others I had but it was the only interview that asked me about my like KNOWLEDGE of veterinary medicine and the field at large. I felt they were really looking for people who UNDERSTOOD the field and how it works beyond just wanting to be a vet bc they love animals. Good luck!

According to the info during the info session, 250-300 people got offered an interview. The interviews will be done through zoom, where there will be two interviewers. It will be done in a traditional format, around the 30 minute mark. 1/2 will be about you as a person and 1/2 about your experiences.
They accept about 1/2 the people interviewed, expecting about 90 people to accept. Acceptances will come out in waves that will be complete at the end of January.

(Sorry about the emoji thing, apparently my phone hates the numbers on this forums)

For people who have attended an info session - did you have to do any talking? Or is it just them telling you abt the program?

You don't have to talk. There is an opportunity at the end to ask questions but you can put them in the chat. I found the info session to be really helpful!

Do interview booking slots open after attending the information session? It shows for me that theres no interview dates available for booking.
I got accepted for an interview after the first info session passed soo Im wonderin if thats why theres a delay in seeing it?
