I go to OSU as well hard to believe you got a high gpa unless you took some courses at community college.Im majoring in health science my current pre req gpa is a 4.0. Let me know if you get accepted to OSU, with your stats you should since the average is about 3.7-3.8. Let me know...

You will definitely get into OSU their GRE sums to 310 or average of 155 each, and 4.0 writing. Plus your GPA is near perfect, and they only require 40 shadowing hours, and you have 130 so why are you worried.

Why didnt you apply to OSU

@OSUkid the main reason I did not apply to OSU was because I was missing too many pre-reqs. I was missing 3 pre-reqs at the time I submitted my application and they only allow you to be missing two. Also, I have this vision of hanging out on the beach, drinking a corona, and studying my PT notes 🙂 So Florida seemed like the perfect spot for me.

I feel you but going out of state is expensive. Very expensive then you need a house and food, why would people do that to themselves.

My undergrad was covered by the military, so I am completely debt free. My wife has her BSN so she will cover my living expenses and I've saved almost enough to cover the full cost of the program. Granted I could go to OSU and save a little more, but I value my happiness in PT school more. However, I definitely agree with you, a lot of people don't realize the debt to income ratio for PT is not very good. One of the girls I shadowed owes well over 100k. Also, NSU charges the same tuition for out of state as it does in state students. (still a fairly expensive school though)

Yea missing exercise physio is what I'm worried about. Also, I had professor named Robin Taylor for Biology II. Her tests were not extremely hard but she puts a lot of information on tests that are not in the book. They are either from her lecture PowerPoint, ones on test not posted on Carmen, and from what she says. This can make her tests hard. Regarding physiology, I just studied a lot. You get a different teacher for every subject so it is hard to predict the tests. Hope this helps.

really? for which one? oh man you just gave me hope. thank you!

Is it sad I can't even remember my score? I took my GRE almost 4 years ago haha I know that it broke down to be a 147, 149 and 4.5! (long story about why I didn't retake it this year....) And hey, always have hope! Like one of my mentors told me, "don't worry, someone dumber than you has done it before."

Leaning Northwestern right now, especially after calculating what it costs after my GI Bill kicks in (not as much as the sticker price, thank goodness!) and after working with two NU grads for the past two years. I was super impressed with Rosalind, too, and I work with another recent graduate who has only good things to say about the program (plus, she's an awesome PT!). Baylor is going to be VERY tough to get into, so we'll cross that bridge if it ever shows up in front of me.

Best of luck to everyone! Especially you crusty old career changers out there!

I did, I think they're a solid program and I like the inter-professional education aspect of the program. Have you visited the campus? That's the real downside for me... It's kind of in the middle of nowhere. What have you heard?

Well, I've done some research online and apparently they don't have the best program. Previous students have said that you don't really learn anything, and the degree is essentially useless. I've also recently had a bad experience with the admissions people...I can't even get them on the phone to clarify some things on the application. I've never been to the campus because I live on the east coast. I was just applying there to cast a wide net.

Did you read this? http://www.studentsreview.com/CA/WUOHS_g.html

If so, I'd say that only one claimed to be DPT and these reviews seem to be extreme opinions. I've visited the campus and I've talked to their admissions director and students and they seem pretty solid and happy. It just seems smaller than other schools because WesternU is comprised of only health graduate programs. Like if you're trying to cast a wide net towards southern CA, then I think Western should def be on your list above Mt. St. Mary's, CSU northridge and maybe even chapman. But that's just my opinion. I live in SoCal and I've applied to the above schools among others, except northridge

Had a bad start to my undergrad. Did not care about school until I got into my major. overall gpa was 3.11 but upper division was 3.47. Big part of why I am getting my masters now is because I know my GPA was not that strong. Hoping the A's i got in chem 2, bio 1, physics 1 + 2 while completing my masters (with a 3.8 gpa) will be seen. also taking developmental psych and microbio next semester in which I plan to get A's. I think the ~400 observation hours will help as well. Super nervous!!! Good luck to everyone!!

Anyone know if schools will see my observation hours updated on PTCAS as I currently have them planned, but not completed. This is the one area of my app that I am very worried about (having no current inpatient hours). Also what do you think my chances at getting into Upstate are? Suggestions and honest evaluations are more than welcome.

Yeah I was pretty bummed, but early decision is competetive and they can take whoever they want to take. Good news is there are still more schools and I am still in the general admissions process.

I called Madison's admissions to see if I could do anything differently and she said maybe if my GRE was a bit higher, but mostly I was lacking inpatient, acute care, and skilled nursing observation hours experience. Getting my total numbers closer to the 200 mark may have looked better too.

But like I said, its competetive, and they can take/deny whoever they want. Although, the few I know who did get in (for ED) were definitely qualified for it and deserved it!

Has anyone applied to Indiana University and been invited to an interview? They said invitations would be sent via email on or before 11/14 and I haven't heard anything from them yet (it's 11/15 now) so I'm guessing I wasn't competitive enough for an interview. But I'm kind of hoping they are just a little behind schedule with the invites because I at least expected a rejection letter rather than a non-notification. Has anyone been invited to an interview at IU?
