Fellow SDNers,

I have been fortunate enough to find myself in the position of choosing between some really great options including Harvard NP, Columbia-Bassett (including the $30k a year that comes with it), and Yale.

I had an awesome experience at interview day at each school and really am having a tough time coming to any kind of decision. Of course I will go to second look at each school, but what are your thoughts?

Is HMS worth forgoing the $ at Columbia? Is the Yale System and the chill atmosphere that great? Help!

Thanks!

Haven't yet. I'm going on the assumption I will get in there too.

Harvard has pretty good financial aid. Go there.

Do you want to do primary care, strictly? If you already know that then the money at Columbia-B is worth it, imo. If not HMS or Yale probably just comes down to where you feel better. But yah maybe wait to see if you actually get into Yale first.

All three of the programs are fantastic. Rural programs do not automatically mean terrible programs.

Just to clarify: I think all the programs are excellent. The OP, however, has not actually gotten into Yale.

Or the OP is a troll and just picked the 3 best schools he's heard of and said he's gotten into all of them.
It's natural to wonder given how few posts he has, but @JAC363 is legit.

I would love to comment and vote on these absolutely fantastic schools, but I have a conflict of interest being on the Bassett waitlist. 😉 I'll just say that there's no way to go wrong.

I don't think Yale is a sure bet for anyone, no matter how outstanding of an applicant you are. OP, congrats on your two acceptances to two of the best schools in the world and I hope to congratulate you on a third in a few days, but I don't think its advisable to assume admission to Yale before it actually happens.

Agreed, presumption is not warranted. My read is that OP is "operating" on that assumption so he can consider all of his potential options, not because he feels sure he'll get in. In any case he has two fantastic schools to consider.

Moving to School Specific Discussions.

OP if money differences are similar pick the ones that best align with your interests. The Bassett program is pretty unique so you should know whether you want that or not.

I would hope so lol but why not wait 4 days to find out ?

OP, if that ends up being your decision pick the place you feel most at home when visiting. Professionally/reputation wise, I doubt you could end up regretting any of those choices.

Update: I was accepted to Yale this morning.

Sorry if I came across the wrong way to some folks on here. I just legitimately wondered if some interesting perspectives might be voiced on here regarding my options.

And now I can say congrats!

You have three absolutely amazing choices - none of which you can really go wrong with. I think you should weigh location, your professional goals, specific aspects of each school that are distinct to them (like P&S club and Yale system), and then finally the money. Perhaps go to all second looks and then just pick the one you feel most at home at!

You should definitely withdraw from Yale right away... I mean, how else am I gonna get off that waitlist !!

But seriously, you have some wonderful options. I vote Harvard. (But I am obviously biased)
