Is it too late to send an update letter?
I dont know if that will help change initial offers before waitlist but the decisions have already been made, I work in an HMS lab and an mdphd student in adcom told me they're done with decisions.

i've been relatively calm, but this has me flipping out now lol

Edited out: sorry i thought u were questioning my claim not asking a question lol.
@tomatosoup1 I apologize i thought u were questioning my claim not just asking a question lol, i am just an applicant too and i obviously wouldnt try to ask beyond what she tells me as its probably not okay but she's just a voting member on the hst program (pathways & mstp have ONLY faculty in the main voting committee )

wait so did she say that all programs (pathways + mstp) have finished making decisions or did she just speak to HST?

since they all release at the same time maybe hst is done but they're waiting on the others before releasing? crazyyyy to think the decision is already made and I just don't know it yet I hope it's the 28th the anxiety is killing me (for this and for all the other ones I have coming out in the next 2-3 weeks)

LOL this post made my stomach drop thinking it was a decision, I need to get off SDN

lowkey feel like it would be the Friday after because why would they explicitly go against what it says on their website: "All admissions decisions are sent out via email on the same date in early March, whether candidates are accepted, declined, or waitlisted."

Websites are often not updated super regularly so I feel like even if they are going to release it this Friday they’re not gonna update the website just to say that. But it’s a good reminder that we could be waiting until Marco 7th and it wouldn’t be “late”

true -- another thing to note is that in the past many years, they've never released as late as March 7th, so all of this is really up in the air

So sorry y'all for the confusion I was just speculating. I think either is realistic but the fact they've never released as late as the 7th and it seems at least one program might be ready to release makes me think it'll be Friday bc from the list someone posted earlier in past years when it was the 28th msar still said March 1 iirc

for reference, here are the release times, give or take an hour (last year was off by an hour). got this verbatim from last year's thread:
~6:15 AM PST/9:15 AM EST: acceptances go out first for REACH scholarship recipients, then PW AND HST acceptances very shortly after
~7:10 AM PST/10:10 AM EST: pathways only A's begin to go out
~8 AM PST/11 AM EST: WL emails start to roll out
~8:20 AM PST/11:20 AM EST: R emails start to roll out

You’re a goat this is wonderful thank you.

To add a little something to this, in the 2017-2018 cycle, the FA app opened on Monday 3/5 and decisions came out Friday 3/2...

So 2/28 is looking like the day!!!

Based on what happened in 2019-2020, where it did end up being 2/28, it looks like it will probably be this Friday, since the FA application will open on March 1 this year and be due on the 15th.

Best of luck to everybody. No matter what happens YOU INTERVIEWED AT THE BEST MEDICAL SCHOOL IN THE WORLD. Even if you end up in a smaller pond, you're still a big fish. As my mentor told me, there are many roads to the same place. For all you know youl'l end up back at MGH or Brigham for residency or fellowship or even faculty??!! I've been here a while and I haven't met too many HMS faculty who actually went here. As my dad tells me... expect the worst, pray for the best, and get what comes. Don't stress over something that already has been set. I like to think that if you are interviewing at HMS, you likely already have a few options as backup. FOCUS ON THAT. You're going to become a doctor and that is what matters. Think of how few people can say that. You're standing in the shoes that millions would want to be in. Take a minute and thank your shoes. Sleep tight tonight by counting your As instead of sheep. If you do take the R, don't come back to this thread. It will only make you feel worse. My prescription for an R is to watch It's a Wonderful Life tomorrow night. No, it's not Christmastime anymore but it's such a ****ing good movie that will remind you of the intrinsic value of life itself, and that even if you are unable to achieve your aspirations, you can indirectly save the lives of those around you in ways we take for granted.. Btw all of this was directed at myself bc I'm actually stressed af.
