Has anyone heard from VMRCVM?

Hey all, still not sure when i'll be getting to the hotel tomorrow, but i'm trying to get standby for an earlier flight. Either way, you should all have my cell number from the PM, so please feel free to give me a call tomorrow evening whenever you're all meeting (did we ever agree on a time?)

i dont think we picked a time yet but besides you i think the other latest person said they have lab til 7? so i guess we can meet at 8? i wont be shy, i will def be calling people

Well I miraculously got an internet connection in the Cleveland airport..but i'm sitting here with a delayed flight, and its like blizzarding outside lol...don't know why I was expecting things to run smoothly 😉

Funnily enough, I grew up in Cleveland 🙂 All things lead to Tech I guess

Just as a heads up for those that may have been to VT before and know the area - the main route across campus has been under construction for a week or two now. There are detour routes that you can follow, but allow yourself a few extra minutes to get there if that's the way you plan to go!

My nerves are finally kicking in... I don't know why it took so long! But luckily I have time to go to one of my classes in the morning so I won't be sitting in my room getting anxious for too long. Good luck everyone!!

One more quick update - just was reading weather.com and there's winter storm advisory warning about 7 - 10 inches of snow between Friday and Saturday evening!!😱 Dress warm and travel safely everyone!!

Good luck to everyone tomorrow!!! 😀

I don't go til Saturday so I'm hoping the mini interviews go well and seem "do-able".

Also planning on leaving my house in PLENTY of time to get over there Saturday morning since it sounds like there might be quite a bit of snow on the ground -hope everything works out with the weather for people traveling!

yayy its over! it was great to meet all of you! i am spending the night so i will wake up to a beautiful snowy background 😎 hopefully i dont get snowed in haha, looks pretty light so far! i hope we all get accepted because i really liked all of you guys and it would be awesome to be your classmate 😀

Well, I didn't get to meet you guys today, but hopefully we all get in and I can meet you later!!!!

I am also so glad it's over! Nothing more I can do for this one. I feel like this one had so much pressure. Maybe it's the instate thing, or maybe its just the interview process being new, I don't know...

It was great to meet those of you I did...and PigsRock--I am 90% sure I know who you are from a class or 2...

I am so proud that I learned how to use the multiquote reply thing 😀.

i know you arent allowed to say anything about it because of the confidentiality agreement but all of you guys talking about how glad you are that this one is over is making me reallllyyy nervous for tomorrow :scared:

Same thing here!! I am SOO nervous for tomorrow - I feel a lot of pressure about it too b/c this is my IS school and my top choice by far. :scared:

So, laura if you see this in time good luck tomorrow! 🙂 I went to UVA too! (I graduated in 07, when were you there?)

I'm Elaine, btw, brown hair, grayish suit, blue shirt if you see me say hi!

Good luck everyone who's interviewing tomorrow! It was great to meet all of you, but yeah i'm definitely glad that one is over.

(blech)

Ya i think the IS thing really makes it harder because there is that extra pressure. Plus you have no clue what it will be like until you do it. But honestly, once i got there...everything went SO fast. and when i finished the interviews i checked my watch to see if it was actually 1.5 hrs because i swore on my life it wasnt lol but it was!!! i havent looked outside my window yet to see the snow but i hope the drive wont be too bad for you all this morning! btw-they said the interviews are def on, even if it snows a couple feet lol

I thought the whole interview process was actually really fun. There were a few "um?" moments, but I think that happens in any interview. I hope everyone else ended up enjoying themselves too! I'm not sure exactly who I met, but I think I met one or two people from on the board 🙂 It was neat getting to talk to other potential students!

And BlacKat I hope you got out! There was about 6 inches on the ground at 3:30 this morning when I went to let my dogs out to go potty. At 8:30 when I officially woke up it was closer to 10!

I am sorry that I missed everyone at the interviews but hopefully will see you in the fall!!! My flight was postponed until tomorrow so am hanging out at the hotel and enjoying the snowstorm!!!

yup i am still here at the inn@vt!! we are staying another night but i just came back from a walk and it is soo beautiful!! it is def about 10 inches i think, i was stepping through some really deep areas but i brought my camera with me and i'm enjoying my time! and its still snowing! tomorrow will be soo nice because it is supposed to be sunny, i cant wait to go out again and talk some pics! u'd think i never saw snow before hahaha but i just havent seen snow with all of these large fields and "naturey" scenery, even when i used to live in st. louis!! lol

It is definitely beautiful! It just gives me a headache to think of how we're going to deal with all of it in the next few weeks. I've got to pick a friend up at the airport tomorrow morning and I'm not entirely convinced I'll be even able to get out of the neighborhood! '

I keep getting the whole "Oh we never get this much snow" speech from people who have been living here for 20 odd years. I'm so glad that in my second winter here I've had the fortune of experiencing it 😛 On the flipside, hopefully this means we won't get this much snow again for a long time!

I am really wondering how they're doing interviews today... They cancelled bus service on campus and the roads out my window (on campus) are terrible.... I wouldn't trust those vans in these conditions.

I kind of had fun yesterday, too... The interview process went by sooo fast! I sure hope I never have to do it again, though!

I heard that they are only interviewing in the morning today 8-12. i saw some people getting ready to go this morning at 7 and honestly this morning it wasnt as bad as now. I think it really accumulated a lot by the time 9 hit. I just wonder how they will get OUT haha

I also thought some of the stations were fun. I was thrown off on some follow up questions but overall it was a decent experience. One station in particular, i LOVED because you really got to express who you were which i was afraid it wouldnt be able to come out like i want. I also really liked 5/8 interviewers, 2/8 were nice but a lil hard to read, 1/8 kind of scary lol but most of them were very happy and reassuring. overall, i guess i did like the experience. I dont understand why it had to be separated into different stations as opposed to just one on one. The only thing i can think of is that it saves time for them because they can do bulk groups at once.

Well I had my interview this morning and I can safely say that I survived. The weather this morning was HORRIBLE!!! When I left at 7 it was still sort of dark and snowy and visibility was very bad. A drive that took us 5 minutes yesterday took 30 minutes this morning. I wore my snow boots and changed into my nice shoes there.

The admissions lady said that all but two people made it in that weather which I was pretty surprised/impressed by.

The interview process itself was fine. The stress of not knowing what to expect was worse than the interview itself. It did fly by!

wahoowa 3day and laura!

ps. 3day i was 07 at uva too...did you do the prevet society?

I looked for you a little but there were several people wearing suits with bluish shirts and I didnt want to be a creeper and go get close enough to all of them to read their nametags. 🙂

I hope you got there safely and your interview went well! Wahoowa

I graduated in '09 btw!

It was great to meet gilch, BlacKAT and DickVetPlease. It made me feel a lot better to be able to hang out with other cool people instead of obsessing alone in the hotel room. The breakfast in bed option was AMAZING. Very yummy, and almost made up for getting up at 6:20 when I'm used to being up until 2 AM or later. 😛

One of the interviewers scared the crap out of me (silent in a creepy way at first, and I felt like I was talking to a wall), and one lady kept firing pointed questions, but everyone else was nice.

I thought I did OK -- I had a bit of logorrhoea and repeated myself several times at a couple of the stations, but in every case we were still having a lively conversation (or interrogation) when the time was up. Much better than my fear of sitting there in silence with nothing to say. What was I thinking? I'm never at a loss for words (or at least lousy jokes).

So after now having my interview I went back and looked at the admitted students stats from last year. I know that VMRCVM takes the writing portion of the GRE into account and that is how they get their average scores to be in the 1800's. Does anyone know how the writing scores translate into the scores VMRCVM adds to your Quant and Verbal portions. For example...if you got a 5 on your writing does that equivalate into an 800.....a score of 4 into a 700 etc? Does anyone know what i'm talking about or am I not making any sense...

Sorry, continuing to try and see what my chances are after the interview process. It makes me nervous that the admissions director told us that they still go back and look at your application, test scores etc, and score them along with your interview to determine who gets accepted. I would rather they just move on from the numbers and make their decisions from the interviews!

Deleted simply because I started to doubt whether or not it was too much info. All I can say is there was at least one who made me ramble a bit too 🙂

Overall, I think I did ok. Ok, but not great. A few of the interviewers kinda rattled me. Does anyone know how many OOS people they interviewed this year? I know they interviewed like 60 last year, but I was just wondering how many they had this time.

At the interview, they said that they were interviewing 65 OOS for 15 positions!!!

I am sorry that I missed everyone at the interview, but I guess that I prefer to obsess alone in the hotel room the night before the interview. Maybe its the introvert in me, but needed time alone to mentally prepare (not that it really helped in this case, but that was my original strategy.)

its ok i know how you feel 😀 i was debating between reading up on possible info that could help vs. meeting people but i figured i have no clue what to look over so i guess ill just try and have a lil fun! god im super nervous about hearing bak from them. I know dr. pelzer said we'll know the answer by/on friday. does anyone remember which it was? lol if it was ON fri then i can try to relax, if it was BY fri then ill be checking my email insanely. so much pressure with it being IS 🙁

pwnedu-thats exactly how i felt. overall i think i did ok. not sure if i did well enough to conquer my gpa weakness. and im glad everyone else agrees that there were a couple interviewers that "rattled" everyone, as you say 😀

BlacKat33,

I know how you feel about hearing from admissions. I am dying to know!!!! I thought they said by Friday, but not sure....I actually just got home about two hours ago due to the fact that my flight was delayed twice, but it was so worth it!!!!!!

😀😀😀 i hope all of us get in! i will be so sad if one of us is left out. but SDNers seem to kick butt with % of acceptances :luck::luck::luck:

hey fellow wahoos! nice to know there are a few of us around hoping to live in hokieland 🙂 (well, i already live here, lol - but you know what i mean) 3MS - i wasn't really active in prevet, were you?

i definitely feel like i did pretty well in a couple and really awful in a couple of the scenarios - but mostly i am worrying did i set myself apart or just seem average? ugh. i wish i could just turn my brain off!!

dr. pelzer did say we would find out ON friday, at some point before she leaves her office - via email. so, don't check email obsessively until then. i am literally counting the days - it seems SO LONG.:scared:

2 more days...I feel like my whole body is just tense and vibrating in anticipation. Anything extra and I might pop!!

LOL!! i feel the same way and i was thinking about posting on this thread but then i told myself noo have some self control haha i dont have anything new to say except AHHH im soo excited and soo nervous my emotions are bouncing all over!

Lol! I was trying to have some self control... But I needed to know others out there felt the same way!

You guys totally freaked me out...

I heard Dr. Pelzer say Friday at the earliest, but I know adcoms have been known to say one thing and do another.

But did not read it. Too chicken right now. It just said "Copy of decision letter being mailed." I'm going to wait until after class; I am currently in a library/computer room. There will likely be shrieking of some sort or another. Wanted to give you guys an update.

I hope everyone (me included) gets in--I'd love to be classmates!

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG too scared to check mail

update: ok no mail now *phew* heart is JUMPING out of body

I wonder if they will send the OOS notifications today...I bet they will send them Monday and make us sweat it out over the weekend.

No can do. I'm feeling really sick just thinking about it. Give me a few hours. I know that I have a reasonable chance of getting in and am not a bad applicant, but just thinking about it makes me want to :barf:. Let me at least wait until I have fewer people to puke on.

Off to go play internet boggle...

i heard everyone will be notified by friday whether you are IS or OOS

gilch you gotta open it for us so we know what it is!! lol i am leaving to PA in a couple hrs, u gotta tell me what happens before them 😀 im sure you did well!! i feel like all us SDNers will get in because compared to the people in my group during interview day...we were YRS ahead in experience&professionalism
:luck::luck:

Nothing here. I wonder why they apparently didn't send out a mass email to accepted/rejected applicants. If they are sending them individually then we could be waiting awhile...
