Hey,
I would appreciate some insight. I have some top tier interviews and some lower tier interviews which are easier to rank. But I'm having trouble with the middle.
I am couples matching so I might end up 5 or 6 programs down into one of these places. So I feel like it might be important.

Wake Forest
U Maryland
Georgetown
Cedars Sinai
UC irvine
UCLA Harbor
U Texas San Antonio

I am interested in pursuing a competitive fellowship-i.e.Cards...or having a research oriented academic career.

Any insight into how you would rank these programs? Thanks for the help!

Cards OR research orientated academic career? Because I like Cedars over Harbor for simply cardio reasons, but if you want more "academic medicine approach" then I like Harbor, Georgtown, and San Anton at the top of the list. Can you clarify what you mean? And then I can give my ever so humble opinion about your middle of the list rankings.

Also couples matching, also struggling with the middle.

Generally, I'd rank them as follows:
UCLA-Harbor = UMaryland
Wake Forest
Cedars Sinai
Georgetown = UCI
(I know nothing about UTSA...)

For cards...it gets a little trickier. Georgetown has a solid cards rep because of its affiliation with Washington Hospital Center, but it's hit or miss in recent years as to whether GTown ppl can actually get WHC fellowships. With that said, I've heard good things about Wake, Harbor and Maryland for cards. Cedars people tend to stay in house or go to SoCal community programs...UCI sees a similar trend.

As such:

UCLA-Harbor = UMaryland = Wake > Georgetown > Cedars > UCI

just my two cents, though, and i'm admittedly weaker on my west coast knowledge...
