Hey everyone,
I was hoping to get some input on my school list.
When I originally submitted my primaries, I had a 3.83 cGPA (with a similar sGPA) and an MCAT score of 507. However, I just received my new MCAT score on 8/1 and I scored a 519 (97th percentile). I'm not really sure how to approach my school list since I (thankfully) had a pretty big jump in my MCAT score.
Here is some info that might help:
-State of Residence: PA
-GPA: 3.83
-MCAT: 507, 519
-Over 2,000 hours working as a nursing assistant in a hospital.
-Around 100 hours of MD shadowing in a free clinic (with a good MD L.O.R.)
-Decent LORs from professors
-Some research experience in college, but nothing super impressive (no pubs)
-Decent extracurriculars, family members involved in healthcare.
Here is my list so far (I am getting ready to submit these secondaries, I filled most of them out already)...
-Temple
-Geisinger Commonwealth
-Jefferson
-Drexel
-Penn State
-Albany
-Georgetown
-VCU
Is it realistic for me to aim higher with my new MCAT score? If so, how much higher? I live in the Philly suburbs so Penn has always been a dream but I'm not sure if I'm within reach?
I'd love any suggestions to expanding my list!
Thanks!
