Who all has submitted? Who's waiting on eLORs? Who's obsessively reading their PS and wondering whether the adcomms would like the word "delighted" or "ecstatic" more, thinking the first sounds too weak but the second sounds too fanatical. (Who did I just cause to go back to their PS and change 'ecstatic' to 'delighted'?)

Good luck to all! The real challenge is just beginning.

And don't be afraid to smack a LOR writer upside the head with a friendly e-mail if they haven't submitted yet...

I have not submitted! Ahhh! And I am totally doing the micromanaging on the PS that just needs to stop. And I'm waiting on an eLOR. Of course.

I have one eLOR writer that I don't need, but would like to have. I'm still working on my PS here and there (it's so hard when everyone has some little bit they think is important to fix or change)... and I need to enter all my experiences. 🙄 But I have them all written down so it's just copy and paste. And I have to put in my tests (just being lazy there).

And then there's Ohio and Iowa... and those supps... arg.

BUT! I mailed Miss, Auburn, KSU, and the sig page for Iowa, and I'm paying Minn and Okla later today online. So that will be 6/10 official!

Just doing some work on the PS. Mixing in all of the suggestions I have gotten from the people who have read it. Actually, I am right now adding in TT's suggestions (THANKS!). 🙂 My last LOR just submitted about 3 hours ago. All I have to do is copy and paste the PS and then hit submit. It WILL happen tonight. Then there is Ohio, Iowa and Illinois' supps that WILL be done tonight. And then just mailing out the transcripts to those three and the sig page for Iowa.

Western is a whole 'nother beast that I will tackle later this week.

I have nothing productive to add as I am not applying this cycle, but your title made me LOL:laugh:🤣

And then there's Ohio and Iowa... and those supps... arg.

Oh I forgot all about supps. Those were the real stressors, making sure you had all the addresses right, and had everything that each school wanted, and the fees, and whether to send a packet or do it online or not.

Western is a whole 'nother beast that I will tackle later this week.

Ungh, Western sucks balls in terms of application. Nice place though. Gets a bad rap sometimes but I was impressed.

I am so done and refuse to go back and look at my app and PS anymore!!!

And I so agree the Western supp sucks!!!

Time to focus on doing amazing in my fall classes!!

Good luck Everyone:luck:

Holy Carp (?) is right! I am so much more nervous about this whole process this year than the previous two for some reason... maybe because I am so much more hopeful this year? Or because I increased my applications by a factor of 9 (and am 9 times more nervous)?
I am planning on submitting VMCAS, CSU, and Iowa tonight:barf:.
I have already submitted/mailed: KSU, WSU, UPenn, UMn, Edinburgh.

Still in major freak-out mode over (T)OSU... and I still don't have an answer on my old pre-req petition (makes it even harder to get that together, not knowing if my app will be tossed!).

And I haven't even started Missouri! Plan to do it next week though, so it doesn't continue to haunt me!

Oh, and one letter (that I MUST have) is still "in progress." :scared:

I will be either much happier, or much more nervous a week from now!

Hopeful...:laugh::laugh::laugh:. That is all.

I submitted on September 2nd for Michigan's early admissions program. Supplement also done.

I still have a lot of work on the ole PS to do... I also need to finish the Oregon State and Colorado State supplementals, but they are mostly done. I submitted the Washington State supplemental last week. All of my transcripts and test scores have been sent (except for the fact that I'm retaking the GRE tomorrow night-- can you say procrastination much?). All of my eLORs were in as of last week, so it is officially all down to me. Here's to hoping I can submit by early Wednesday!

Then there's the Tufts app, which I haven't given much thought to since it's not due until November 1st. That will be next week's fun! AND I'm taking the dreaded Biology GRE for RVC on November 13th... after that day I will finally be able to "relax" and wait.

I am staying surprisingly positive about this whole thing. I'm still in the "OMG I'm officially applying to vet school!!" mode after sitting on the sidelines for the past couple of cycles... ask me how I feel about it in a month or two and I'm sure I'll have changed my mind. 🙄

One thing I did find amusing though was the fact that I knew applying would be a lot of work just from hanging around here for the past couple of years watching people stress... but when it comes down to it, I really didn't think it would be THIS much work. So future applicants beware-- you think listening to us helps prepare you, but you really have no idea until you're actually doing it! Or maybe that's just me. 😳

Whoa, will that even get to the schools in time?

This is you first cycle right? The real work is sitting there waiting for interview invites to be sent out and obsessing over whether you'll get one or not and counting down the days until an arbitrary date because they might send out interview invites on that day, oh em gee holy sheez so excited!....and then it gets delayed two weeks and that's when you want to punch a llama.

Good luck on the GRE, ckd! :luck:

I'm only applying to Mizzou, and it's my IS so I don't have much to add to this thread (not due until Nov. 1). Good luck to all those submitting VMCAS! You're almost there!

Nope, it won't get to all of the schools in time. It will work for CSU, UC Davis, Tufts and RVC but not for Oregon State or Washington State because they want official scores by the 1st where the other ones just want you to have taken it by the 1st. I'm okay with that though because I don't have good chances there anyway. :meanie: I'm just applying to all four WICHE schools because they more or less make you if you have any hopes of actually being funded. Woot, gotta love Arizona residency. I took it the first time at the end of August, which was really pretty poor planning on my part.

And yes, it is my first cycle. I've heard waiting is the worst part, hence my statement that the excitement will likely be gone soon. 😛 Thank god I got a cool phone with internet and email so I can obsessively check for any news... now if only I had constant surveillance on the mailbox!

AHHHHHHHHH! I am just working on my PS a little more. I have one more LOR that needs to be submitted but she told me not to worrry and it will be all set 🙂 I will be submitting the VMCAS on Wednesday!

I already sent in KSU, LSU, WSU, CSU, St.George, Mississippi. Minnesota I already paid for so thats all set. All I have left is Cornell (have to fill out the short answer part) and Tufts (just have to submit everything else is all set) which both have later due dates for the supplemental.

As of right now I am apologizing in advance to all my family and friends because I will be going crazy for the next couple 5-6 months:laugh:

Well anyways Good Luck everyone!!!!

AHHHH!

I still have one missing eLOR - From the vet! I recruited one of the nurses to assist me in bugging her about getting it in today. Fingers crossed she doesn't forget. I may be camping in the hospital thursday if she doesn't (luckily I'm usually there thursday afternoon anyway).

I'm also missing two LORs for TMDSAS thanks to my professor losing the thing I printed for her the first time... at least those have twoish more weeks after the 1st to get in.

VMCAS is in, so is...

supplementals for:
KSU, CSU, A&M

Need to click submit for TMDSAS after I obsessively check it about 10 more times.

1 essay to go for Mizzou.

I am in full blown panic mode because of that eLOR and there is a physics test on the day everything is due, 1 hour before the deadline. So I need to submit TMDSAS tonight and not worry about Mizzou until this next weekend so I can buckle down on this foreign language of science I do not understand.

Almost there!!

I asked 2 vets I worked with a month ago if they could write me another LOR, they both put it off, I call last week leave a message (because I am hundreds of miles away at grad school) and both LOR's have not touched it! I call Monday, seems to be the one I look up to more, and I think knows me better (I seem to be the non-favorite of the two hopeful vets this cycle ok.. ever at my clinic) left for vacation, that day, and wont be back till Saturday Oct. 2. Yes that is right, gone kaploowie.

Minor freak out.. called him left a message on his cell, left a message at the office, sent him numerous e-mails.. no response... very sad.. so in a short time I had to get another rec. , thankfully I got one from a personal friend/vet on short notice. We have never worked together, and I wish she knew me more, but I hope it all works out.

Idk.. I hope everything happens for a reason.

Ahhh, still waiting on 2 eLORs. Nagged both vets a couple days ago, and talked about it with one of them yesterday. She said that VMCAS doesn't actually make a big deal about it if it goes in late, but she promised she would do it on time. Let's hope that's true... even if they don't care if it's late, that wouldn't prevent me from a hugeeee amount of what-if panic.
Just one essay for Missouri left, it's completely rusty and since it's not due for a month, I'm pretty low on motivation. Getting it in soon would be nice, though.

Ughhhhhh I was going to ballsy up and submit the VMCAS tonight but I don't think I'm going to. I want to wait till I can print it out first and see a hard copy as opposed to the computer version that I see all the time to make sure I catch any mistakes. I'm also torturing myself over word choice...I don't want to make it sound like I did more than I did but I don't want to make it sound like I did less than I did either. Like...I observed surgeries but I also helped with them by scrubbing the site beforehand, handing over tools (sterile-ly (?? lol) of course), handing over sutures, assisted breathing when necessary, helped them wake up post-op, etc. But I'm afraid to say "observed and assisted with surgeries" because I'm afraid that saying "assisted" will be overstating what I did. Plus there's a lot of strict rules in Ohio about what an "animal aide" (someone who is not a vet, vet student, or vet tech) can and cannot do so I don't want them to get the impression that I was doing things I shouldn't (which I wasn't). Can you tell I've been thinking about this WAY too much? Gah.

Oh yeah and supplementals. I've been telling myself I have to do at least ONE essay tonight.

Ellie-
I stated that I assisted during surgeries. For example, for exploratories, I would hold the intestine, stomach, liver etc. while the dr took biopsies, flushed, and sutured.

Thanks! I guess if they want to know specifics of how I assisted then they'll ask during the interview that I will hopefully get.

Submitted VMCAS but am still waiting on my vet eLOR. I've talked to him each week I've seen him, called his secretary this morning to ask her to remind him, and still no letter. Come Wednesday after work if he still hasn't sent it in I will be waiting for him outside his office and will force him to write it then!

Stressed and frazzled. And I tried to make a "Holy Cow, I have so much to do and I'm so stressed" dessert tonight and it totally did not turn out at all. 🙁 Bummer.

And supplementals? If they're due Nov. 1st I will worry about them once I finish stalking my vet. 🙂

Well, the PS is in version 1.5a. The NCSU essays are in version 1.4. Did my final check out on it today and got some good changes. Now I'm just waiting on 2 LORs. Deadline is way off.

I keep getting sidetracked. I started out working on one of the Iowa essays, got distracted about fixing my PS, and then opened my experiences to check something... now I'm tweaking those and I have ten windows open. -_-

This should be the warning on VMCAS: Once you have finished a section, proofread it, and re-proofread it. DO NOT GO BACK!! You will never stop! You will have to keep changing things and rearranging things! And it sounded better the first time anyway!

I'm only checking VMCAS four or five times a day to see if my vets have submitted their letters yet. Not nearly as bad as the email checking when interview notifications were supposed to come out last year!

Holy junk! I don't have to remember the *day* I took the GRE in August of 2007, do I?

The date had better be online. It's not in my score reports.

ETA: Nope, not online. I can tell by when I requested score reports for a couple, but I have no idea for the others! Bah.

When you click on "order additional score reports" it should tell you the date that you took the exam. At least mine tells me the dates I took it last year and this year

I totally worked on my supplemental till all hours last night...and missed my first Oral Comm lab this morning at 8 am. Oops....good thing we're allowed to miss one lab, no questions asked. 😳

This makes me wish I were in school right now. 😳 At least at school if I had to stay up all night doing something I had the option of missing the AM class the following morning, but I can't do that with work.🙁

yayyy for people who have submitted already!!! now brace yourself, because I think the waiting period was more stressful than the submission period lol. but good luck on the interviews and i can't wait to see some of you who come to penn!!! 😍 so far meeting people form SDN has always been good 🙂 no psychos.... (so far) hahaha

VMCAS is in!! Now, just to finish up the Ohio supplemental....that thing is just a purely evil beast! :diebanana:

I am really relieved that I'm not the only person who is still waiting on an eLOR! All I need to do is update and refine my PS from last year and hound my LOR writer and I hope to submit tomorrow!! 😀

I am also still waiting on one of my eLors, I don't know how many email reminders I have to give the guy! Maybe I should buy him starbucks and sit in his office until he finishes it.
I am also still combing over my PS slightly as well as my other supplementals. My UofI Supp is pretty much done but I have to still calculate my GPA for the Colorado supp, that is on the To Do list for tonight. *sigh*

Hopefully I will have everything submitted by tomorrow.... in the perfect world.

I submitted everything on Friday. eLORs are all in, all supplementals, fees, transcripts, GRE scores, etc is sent. Last thing I have to do is UPEI's supplemental application, but that's really just finalizing since I've written it all up. Plus it isn't due til Nov. 1. I'm feeling cool as a cucumber 👍

Wait until you come to Symposium to say that... :meanie:

So SAVMA symposium is in CA the second weekend of my spring break and I can get professional development money to help pay for my travel expenses? Sounds like a good deal to me.

I'll need some good suggestions for fun things to do in Cali while I'm there.

my last eLOR just went in - YAY!!! I'm HOME FREE!!!! Nothing to do but wait.... the wait IS a killer but right now I'm just glad it's not hanging over my head anymore. 😀

I'll need some good suggestions for fun things to do in Cali while I'm there.

I hear they have beaches.

I hear they have beaches.

Not in the Central Valley. Someone native (i.e., didn't just move here two months ago) could give you more details, but here is the basic run down.

SF is an option (Davis is about 80 miles to the Golden Gate Bridge) but you have to time your trip or traffic sucks. I went on a Saturday evening to pick my cat up from the SF airport and averaged 40 mph on all freeway on the way there.

If you are a wine person, Davis is about 50 miles from Napa and Sonoma.

Lake Tahoe is a couple hours to the east.

It's about 3.5 hours to the northwestern corner of Yosemite N.P.

If you are a bird nerd like me, the Yolo Basin Wildlife Area right outside of Davis is an amazing place (Pacific Flyway, anyone?).

In other words, Davis is central to a lot of things but not particularly close to any. I like it, though. 🙂

I JUST SUBMITTED. AHHHHHHH!!!

Just need an eLOR, need to finish Mizzou's supp (I've got time!) and then wait around for Wisconsin's supp and interview invites. 🙂

We will have a lot of fun things to do planned for symposium itself!

Other than those, depends on how long you're coming out for. Tahoe is always good times, as is the Bay and SF (good god don't DRIVE there ee, drop your car off at Walnut Creek bart station). Monterey Bay Aquarium is a bit of a hike but really nice, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom has animals AND rollercoasters...there's a lot. 🙂
