Good job with interviews everyone! Now we wait for decisions.
Now we can stop stressing about the interview and go back to refreshing our emails every 5 seconds 💀

Based off last year’s thread it looks like 2/26 was a week after their interview day on 2/19. I know all they were able to say when asked was “likely by March” but hopefully if the timeline is roughly the same as last year we could hear back early next week

I'm excited for the influx of acceptance messages! 😀 Great job everyone! Applying and interviewing is exhausting; I'm proud of you all for making it through!

Anyone remember the rough time acceptances came out last year? Will still be refreshing my email all day but want to know if there’s a specific time I should be spamming the refresh button lol
I tried to look at last year’s thread but I can’t see the timestamps for each post beyond just the date. Is anyone else able to see the times?

I just checked at the first acceptance post was at 6pm!
Yeah they were sent pretty late in the evening. OOS got sent out a whole 30 minutes before IS did, so I was FREAKING out thinking I was rejected (didn’t know about everyone getting a seat or waitlisted at that point) 😅 So be patient on the day! Everyone will get an email

Has anyone checked with admissions regarding when we can expect a response, like roughly? I was debating sending an email before going in to work today...

They used to come March 1. Interviews were just a week ago. Give it a minimum another week before asking for a timeline. Evaluating all these scores takes some time.

They won't tell you a timeline. They wouldn't tell us (the interviewers) a timeline. I would be pleasantly surprised if it's within this week at all - we interviewed almost 400 people, and they comb through our notes/scores by hand and rank everyone manually. Sometimes certain things we noted require follow up, more questions, etc. with the interviewers. Keep in mind that it still isn't just the interview they are considering at this stage. They are still looking at the rest of your app right now to determine who gets an acceptance.

If I were going to hazard a guess, I'd say next week. I think most years, including mine, heard ~2 weeks after interview day.

Last year interviews were on 2/19, and results came out on 2/26 (exactly 1 week)

Is this the first year that Illinois did interviews over two days instead of one? I wonder if that will affect the timeline.

Yes as far back as I’m aware of. I applied for co 21 and 22 and both were 1 day and I’m pretty sure at least co 20 was as well but I don’t know anything prior to that. But I believe it’s still about the same number interviewed over the two days as it was on just 1 day

2018-2020 were also over one day. For those that don't know, we used to have on-site interviews and all 400 interviewees would be on campus that day at once. Save for a few stragglers that had emergencies or something and couldn't make it, so interviewed via phone/other later in the week.

Are you able to give any more insight into the scoring process if possible? It’s nice to hear they use your notes to score it—at the start of my interview they mentioned something about it being scored on a rubric, and so I was kind of wigging out thinking there was some invisible criteria I missed or some checkbox I didn’t hit with some of my answers

Honestly I don't know if I can. When I started interviewing, I learned quite a lot about the process that I never knew as an applicant so I have to assume that info is meant to be internal.

It's not so much a 'rubric' as a semi-standardized way of assigning value to your answers. There is no list of things we expect you to mention during each answer in order to get a high score, which is probably true for most vet school interviews.

It doesn't mean it will be the same this year. It's humans behind the scenes shuffling through all 400 interviewees, so there's no guarantee to when they'll be done. The more they rush, the more mistakes will be made, too.

That makes total sense. Thanks for the response and I appreciate you letting us know what you are able to!
