I always pack my lunch cause that's 2 dollars instead of 5-10. There are fast food places about a 5 to 10 minute drive from vet med. But Einstein's is the only one in walking distance.

There's also always lunch lectures.

I always either do lunch lectures or pack lunch. There’s microwaves if you like hot food but I usually never feel like waiting in line. I think I got a plain bagel from Einstein’s once and went to McDonald’s once because my friend wanted to.

You can get by with just one for your first two years, but I would recommend having at least two for the following two years. I ended up buying another pair and am looking into a third (but I also plan on going into large animal)

I know there is one fridge in the BSB on the floor of the classrooms that students can put lunches in! I personally don’t ever use it and just use ice packs, so I don’t know how full it gets but I don’t think people really have problems putting their lunch in there. I think it’s the only fridge for students, but I also don’t really go down in Einstein’s, so not positive if they have anything in there with those microwaves , but it’s a regular full size freezer/fridge, not a teeny thing.

There’s a vet student academic calendar on the vetmed intranet, which idk if you have access to yet (do you have your Net ID? If so, go to vetmed.illinois.edu and under the dropdown menu at the top of the page click Intranet, login, then find the student calendar at the left sidebar). Otherwise, we pretty much follow the same schedule as the main university so that calendar is public access and can be found here: Fall 2019 Academic Calendar – Office of the Registrar
