OOS alternate per status page - it says email and letter to follow. When do they tell us where we are on the list? So relieved I'm not rejected, the torture of waiting today was awfulllll. I can breathe now, though the uncertainty will now continue..

Well my last name started with D, so I got lucky I guess even if I didn't get the exact news I wanted.

I am also OOS

I wonder if they will tell you your rank in the emails?!!
 
From what I read on last year's threads they snail mailed ranks about a week after the status notification.

Well, I'm an alternate too.

well it looks like you might be IS with your location. So think of it this way...
You got the better odds =) if that's your residency state
 
I'm from South Dakota so it's contract but not instate... still better odds though i guess
 
Im an OOS alternate as well. My last name starts with a Z. 🙁 disappointed..i was hoping to get in.
 
so, so far no one OOS on SDN got in. that seems a little wierd, haha

I was thinking the same, must be a conspiracy 😛

Wonder when this email is coming... And I hope the letters only take a week at most like last year, considering that they notified us at 3, unlike last year at 10.

Got the email. Looks like letters will be sent later this week asking for confirmation if we want to say on the alternate list. Rankings won't be given until April 22. :scared:
 
I just got my e-mail. It has all the details, but not rankings. It's also dated for yesterday, haha 🙂

That's how I felt about the rankings. Heck I do not need an exact one. I can stand to look at the potential people that will drop even if they are above me. I just want something to console me while I wait for Purdue and their dang snail mail.
 
OOS, got an acceptance! I really enjoyed interviewing there and I'm very honored to have been offered a spot, but I'm pretty sure I won't be attending that school (I had booked a non-refundable flight for the interview prior to getting an acceptance into Cornell, which was higher on my list)... so here's one spot for an alternate. 🙂

I was really impressed as to what ISU can offer in terms of surgical experience and so wherever I end up going, I'll still be a little jealous of Iowa. 😛

OOS, got my alternate list email. I know I should be happy, but I'm still disappointed that it's not an acceptance.

I am figuring that everyone who interviewed and wasn't accepted is automatically an alternate.

Where in SD are you from? Although I have recently gained IA residency, I'm also a good ol' South Dakotan, born and raised.
 
Denied (OOS)! I'm definitely sad about it -- I fell in love with ISU at the interview. However, I'm feeling lucky to already have an acceptance so this bad news isn't stinging as terribly as it might have.

Congratulations to everyone who was accepted and best of luck to all the alternates!
 
Congrats to everyone that got in!

And keep the faith OOS Alternates! They do go quite far down the list and were still taking people off the list into July.

Hope to see plenty of you next fall😀

And waitlisters... don't sweat it too much until you know your ranking! As others have said the waitlist moves quite a bit. My class went to at least alternate 170-something, and one person was called off the waitlist about 2 weeks before classes started. Good luck!
 
I'm an OOS alternate. I may take my name off the list though...I was really impressed with the facilities and surgical experience that ISU offers, but I already have an acceptance.
 
I am another OOS alternate too, but will most likely be removing my name from the list soon, as I already have other acceptances. Good luck to everyone on the waitlist though, and congrats to those who got in!

From Centerville, a small town just south of Sioux Falls. What about you? Didn't think there were too many of us South Dakotans applying this year...

I just want to be wanted somewhere 😍. I am still waiting on Purdue and of course Illinois, which is my IS and of course they have to do everything so late!👎
 
I am also an alternate. I was a little disappointed initially, but now I am optimistic. I was on the ISU alternate list last year and they go pretty deep into it. If my memory is correct they went to number 70 something out of just over 100 people on the list. Congrats to everyone accepted & alternated (is that a word?) and I hope everyone who didn't get in still stays optimistic. Vet school admissions is a tough process.
 
Hmm... I seriously mis-remembered how far down the waitlist they went for my class. Last person I know numbers for was alternate 90-something, not 170-something.

Sorry guys! Vet school-induced sleep deprivation, it does wonders for your memory 😛
 
I got accepted OOS. I'd already been rejected once and don't feel like my IS interview went well so it was quite a relief! It's just a crazy process!

I'm from a farm outside of Baltic, SD which is ~ 15 miles north of Sioux Falls. USD Grad.
 
I have never actually hoped for a weekend to go by quickly, but I really want to see what this alternate letter has to say.
 
I'm a OOS alternate as well. Is there anyone on the SDN forums OOS that actually got into Iowa? Makes me sad cause I really liked Iowa so I may have to go somewhere else 🙁
 
If you look at the "Official Acceptances c/o 2015" thread you will notice that most people who got into ISU OOS got snail mail letters like two weeks ago. It's kind of mean to make the rest us wait when they already know the decision way earlier.

I'm not sure where you got this? Everyone who's posted found out on the 15th via email.

I thought that too at first, but those are actually Kansas State acceptances (KS lost it's bold title and looks like it's part of the ISU block). I believe everyone was notified on the 15th for ISU though.

To answer the other part of that question I know an OOSer who got an acceptance... me!!! I LOVED Iowa State and am super excited about their program 😀 , but still have to wait to hear from my IS and then may have to make a tough decision.

The only people (who applied to ISU) that found out their status (which was only the DENY status) before the February 15 date were those applicants that did not receive an interview.
