I know all your alternates are disappointed, but you are still in the running. I know you wanted the good news, but you’ll feel just as good about it here in the next couple of months when the waitlist starts moving.

Also CONGRATS ACCEPTANCES!!!
And us rejections... well you’ve heard all the motivational speeches. This is my third time applying and I’ll apply a fourth, if needed. This process takes it out of you, but just being on this anonymous thread, I know some of you want it enough to make those big steps to get in next time 🙂
 
OOS alternate. Currently on Kansas, Wisconsin and now Iowa’s waitlist sigh. Does anyone know the chances of getting off?

They moved through over 130 people last year. And completely went through their waitlist the year before that. So it really just depends on the applicant pool.

This is my 3rd application cycle as well(first time applying to Iowa)! I’m hoping to get pulled off the alternate list or I’ll be applying for the fourth time as well.

Im hoping to at least get on someones waitlist. Im hoping their application review helps me to figure out how to make my application better.
 
Congratulations everyone! Condolences to those who didn't get accepted but like it has already been mentioned, please do a file review as they can be helpful for the next round if needed!

Oh okay, I was just wondering bc I have a convoluted email from my school and was worried I didn’t enter it right, since I thought it might be an auto confirmation thing.

I'm glad everyone has been so supportive of each other on this forum. I have laughed and learned from so many of you. Best of luck to everyone on their future endeavors. It's a big field, DVM or no, so I hope to run into you whether I know your screen name or not. You're all wonderful people.

The year before last they did interviews so the waitlist was much smaller and closer to the 130 from last year, iirc.

Did anyone get a confirmation email after accepting their position on the alternate list. I filled out the form but didn’t get anything and the paranoia in me is saying it didn’t go through
 
OOS alternate, probably going to decline my spot once I hear back from my final school. Congrats to everyone who got in!

Last year I messaged them and asked! It should also eventually update your status that you accepted your alternate status if I’m remembering right.
 
As people reject spots in the class/the waitlist, do they immediately start accepting more students? Or does it happen on a certain day?

We will! If students decline their offer, we'll start pulling people off our waitlist. We encourage students who have made the decision to go to another school to let us know as soon as they're able so that the waitlisted students can get some good news. 🙂

MPM, they'll start going through the waitlist as soon as they can. But you won't get a rank for a little while yet. Good luck!
 
OOS alternate!!! i think March 25th they will tell you what your rank is. this was my last school (denied from 7, waitlisted then denied from 1)
 
I wonder what it means when it says below committee review cutoff phase 2. I was in committee review and my gpas were at their average besides my last 45 which was a little lower. Maybe its a ranking thing?
 
IS accepted! Genuinely surprised too, I keep checking the portal to make sure they didn’t send me the acceptance message by mistake, LOL! Crossing my fingers for everyone on the waitlist, I hear ISU’s often moves quickly.
 
For the people who have accepted the alternate position, does your status now say “concluded - alternate - no response”

I’m confused what the no response part means

Mine says the same thing but I know I submitted the form to stay on the list. Maybe it’s just a placeholder statement until they verify who has submitted the form to stay on the list.

Mine says that too. Maybe it just takes a few days to update? I would assume someone has to go in and manually change it once they get our form to stay on the alternate list.

Mine says the same thing, I agree they probably just have to go in and manually change that.
 
Does anyone know how many people are normally put on the non-resident waitlist?
