Yeah, I don't remember seeing it! But pretty consistent the last few years... Last year 64 IS interviewed, 54 accepted. So odds are pretty good!

I remember they had *a* presentation and I think they had some info on the statistics but I don't remember exactly what was in it.

If I'm remembering correctly (read: take this with a grain of salt because my memory isn't the best), there was a short presentation at the beginning that listed some cool stats about the school and other information (first vet school in the US, employment rates, jobs/locations where some grads are working, etc.), but it was just more of an "intro" type thing for the school and didn't include anything admissions-related.

Anyone know someone that is living in Ames that is willing to host students? I have looking on couch surfing for a place but I would prefer to stay with a current vet student.

Maybe I'm thinking of the interview stats. They put up how many interviewees from each contract state and IS.

Oh, right. I forgot that they had the sheet of paper with those details up, too. Either way, there was definitely nothing that said what the actual probability of acceptance for each group was.

Did anyone receive confirmation that their fall transcripts were received? I sent them mid December, and my portal has not been updated yet. I also sent them a message about it and never heard back. I need to know if I have to resend them to make sure they are there by Feb 1st...

EDIT: They wrote me back 5 minutes after I posted this. They got the transcript, just still need to log it.

Does anyone know if its best to ask question via the message board or to directly call. In all the message I have received it sounds as if we can message back with questions. I'm currently on the interview waitlist and received a message regarding transcripts. Not sure if I should send them in since I dont really have an interview...

You should probably send them to be safe. Or at least that's what I would do. But I think they prefer the message board

I'd send them in since you're still in the running for an interview. But you can do either- call or send a message through the system.

I messaged, and received a reply right way pretty much! Kathy said to send them since they never know how many alternates they may need to invite if others cannot make their interview time! So there is still some little bit of hope! But I feel like by now you should of had to confirm if you were attending or not no?

There are some people who decide at the last minute not to interview at ISU because they've interviewed at other schools that they preference higher. So sometimes some slots open up at the last minute. I know of at least one person who got in who was contacted for their interview during the week before the last interview weekend.

I hope everyone's interviews went well this weekend! Because I'm curious - do you guys have the demographics? I can't find it with the website redesign, and I know on our weekend (Dec) they had it posted in the waiting area!

It doesn't seem to be up yet, unfortunately, but here is a link to the new Interview Information/Demographics page for whenever it is updated. In case anyone else is curious!

Onnnn another note... man, February 15th can't come quickly enough. :depressed:
Ugh I know! ISU was my first interview, and it'll probably be the last (or close to the last) place I hear back from. Makes it most stressful because it's my contract school, and if I get one of those 5 spots, that will seriously influence my decision no matter where else I get in.

Oh, and I think I remember seeing at least some of your stats (GPAs/GREs, at least) posted somewhere. I will honestly be surprised if you don't get accepted! 😉 Keep your head up!

I hope you're right! The waiting game is tough, and it's hard not to psych yourself out while waiting to hear. At least ISU is all at once and we know when it will be. Some other schools I applied to are harder because some people hear before others, which induces panic and stuff.

I also would cancel all my other interviews if I got into ISU, but I only have one left and it's the 12th, so I may end up going. I didn't book flights yet cause I'm hopeful, but now I'm afraid I'm screwing myself and I'm gonna have pay so much for a last minute flight if I haven't heard/don't get in before then. In previous years they've sent acceptances out the week before, so it's possible I'll know...

Yeah, the school does seem to waver a bit on the February 15th bit -- looking at some previous threads, it looks like they've come out at least several days early. For the sake of you not having to not having to hemorrhage money for a last minute flight, I hope that that happens yet again and that you get in! :xf:

I have an interview for Glasgow coming up, but it's unfortunately on the 4th, and the flight plans have already been made, so I have no such luck with being able to cancel. But hey! I'm super excited nonetheless, and I would be more than happy to go to Glasgow if that winds up being my only acceptance (heck, it's cheaper than a lot of OOS schools, even being international and 5 years... tuition without inflation is also nice).

If I get accepted to ISU, though... I'm withdrawing my Mizzou application and dropping physics 2. Mizzou is the only school I applied to that wants it, and if I can avoid putting myself through that misery all semester... :hilarious:

Mhm so its def last minute, I guess I will have to wait and see. One interview weekend down, 2 more to go. Congrats to everyone who had interviews and wish you the best about your news Feb 15th!

Supposed to fly from VA to Ames this Saturday morning. Right as it snows 20 inches on us. Looks almost certain that my flight will be cancelled...

Does anyone that interviewed this past weekend remember the interview statistics for Iowa? Were there more IS students?

Just checked into my hotel after exploring Ames a bit. I love it here!! It has enough of city convenience and the rural type setting that I love surrounding it! I love where the school is and the mobile home park right across the street. I am really excited to take the tour tomorrow! Gosh, I hope I don't blow this interview... sometimes I can't think of answers to the behavioral questions right away...

I made it to Ames for my interview tomorrow! I'm super excited! Do you guys have any restaurant recommendations?

When I was there last weekend, my dad and I ate at Hickory Park Restaurant. It's BBQ, and REALLY good!! There are so many options that it is overwhelming! Also, they turn tables really fast. I swear there were 75+ people in the waiting area when we got our number, yet we were seated within a half hour.

Yeah, I was really impressed with Ames, too. I think that's it the perfect size for a college town, and it's very much similar to my undergrad city, so I felt right at home! 🙂

Celebrate finishing at Della Viti. AMAZING wine bar!! You walk in and you buy a wine card, and then you can use that to try tastes or glasses of like 50 different wines.

That sounds amazing!!! Thank you for the recommendation!

I love BBQ I'll definitely have to eat there thanks!

Did anyone that interviewed yesterday happen to take a picture of the list of interviewers names and addresses for thank you notes? Or know where I can find them online?I completely forgot to write it down before I left. Thank you!

Also, are most of you writing thank you notes? I feel like if they were providing addresses then it must be a common thing.

TBH: I did not write thank you notes. Both of my interviewers were not faculty at Iowa State and were retired. I figured they would never get them anyways.

They said that thank you notes are not required. I don't know if they use the same people for the interview every weekend but the address they gave is:
CVM Admissions
Iowa State University
2270 Vet Med
POB 3020
Ames, IA 50010-3020

If it makes you feel better...I haven't sent mine yet & it's been a week already

I go to ISU and live in Ames! Hickory Park is THE place to go. Also, I second Della Viti. If you like wine, you'll be in heaven! Olde Main is also delicious, and they brew their own beers!

The last weekend for interviews is here! I can't recall anyone saying that they're slated to go this weekend, but if you are... best of luck! Hopefully the demographics will be up soon for those interested. ☺️

This does mean things are drawing to a close now, so it won't be too much longer until we get decisions (I know the school says Feburary 15th, but from snooping around SDN, it seems that, historically, they've been at least several days early -- hoping that's what happens again)!

Good luck to everyone interviewing this weekend! I'm getting SO anxious to hear from ISU, as this is my in state school!!! I hope the next few weeks go by in a snap!

Just checked my portal on a whim... my GPAs have all been recalculated (ugh, biochem...). So it definitely seems like they're updating things and moving along in the process now!
