ISU 2024-2025 (c/o 2029 hopefuls)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Anyone know if they give scholarship/financial aid info when they pull you off the waitlist?
I am c/o 2027, got accepted before the April 15th deadline (I was waitlisted before that) and I didn’t hear of a scholarship until July. I have classmates who got accepted in like June and heard of a scholarship the first week of school. But I think some people got offered a scholarship with their acceptance so it really depends on the scholarship you’re receiving probably and what they’ve given out so far

I was just curious if anyone here knew of any IS students who were accepted this year and were looking into/planning on deferring? Obviously it’s a personal question but I was just wondering how common it is

Is there an accepted students group chat or Facebook page yet?

congratulations, that is so exciting!! How long did they give you accept your spot?
I had two days to respond and if I didn't they would give my offer to the next available on the waitlist

Is it easy or hard to gain residency? (From someone who just got off the waitlist)
Iowa doesn't let you gain residency unfortunately- I think some very rare exceptions for military service, etc. but you have to have lived/worked full time for a year prior to starting

You have to work in the state of Iowa for one year and make a certain amount of money and can’t be a full time student so it is hard to do it unless you are taking a gap year and can come work in Iowa for a year. It isn’t a school policy it is an Iowa law unfortunately!

Declined my waitlist spot today. ([emoji2389][emoji2390][emoji2389])

thanks! when were you offered a spot? I was wondering if there was movement today or if you just declined from an offer yesterday!
They offered me a spot at about 12pm (EST) today!

I am 130 and I havent gotten anything

Does anybody have any idea how many spots are still available and how much further they may get down the waitlist? Since they haven’t moved down the waitlist this week does that mean they’re full?

Unfortunately they don’t tell anyone how many spots are available, which makes it hard to determine how much farther down the waitlist they’ll get. I dont think them not pulling this week necessarily means they’re full though

From posts from last year, I think you can contact admissions and ask where they are on the wait list. I don't think you learn how many more spots are available but they will tell you what number is due to be called next. I read that for class of 2027 and 2028. Good luck!

Hi all, I just finished my 2nd year at ISU and looking for a new roommate for the coming year. It’s a house about 5-10 min drive to campus (or 15 min bike ride). Spacious house with a fenced backyard, open to pets. Message me if you’re interested or want to know more about me and the house

Hi everyone!
I contacted them on Tuesday, May 13, and was told that the next alternate was #134. When I checked in again on Monday, May 19, #134 was still listed as the next alternate. I’m currently #147, so things are moving forward.

wanted to let people know that someone messaged today and they stated that the class was currently full
