LMU C/O 2028

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If y’all don’t mind helping me out with figuring out how many seats are left… Out of those who have been accepted for the spring cohort, who is accepting their offer?
I am accepting my seat. So far there are 32 member of the Facebook page for students. 2 are admin so a total of 30 students. That doesn't mean there aren't others that have accepted. They just aren't on the Facebook page yet.

Thank you so much for the info!

I got an email back from Holly. My deferral is approved for the spring 2025 semester! I won’t have to pay the deposit until September 30th 2024. May my Spring seat be given to someone on this forum 😊.

Y’all don’t need luck cause we all tried our damndest to work HARD to get in and it will show!

I didn't need any special documentation. I asked her via email and she let me defer without any stipulations other than what I've mentioned earlier. Maybe you and @olsonvet can find a place as roomies 😀. Also @Gangar#094, you the realest and I feel like you're our spy into LMU, may you find a shiny on your journey.

Some may also be SGA admin in the group. The SGA members create and moderate the groups.

FB Housing pages and the class FB page maybe good places to start. It will depend on what you’re looking for in housing, but now to January is a lot of time even though it feels like no time at all. Campus housing is also an option for a semester until you find roommates you want to move in with.

@PostedNoted thank you! I need to play some more because I’ve yet to find a shiny, haha. And I will say nothing other than I am happy to help where I can. 🫡

For people who already interview, do you mind sharing what was the experience was like? Were interviewers within the breakout room during the time you are reading the prompts? Also are questions regarding the scenarios provided on share screen or will be asked by the interviewers.
In my past interview experience I was told it's nice to ask questions regarding the program at end of your interview. Is it appropriate to do so in MMI or was the time simply was too short for asking extra questions?
Thanks ahead for any responses! I just want to be mentally prepared the best I could before my interview.

May I ask when you were offered an interview?

You have some time with housing. Keep looking through the FB page! Also look at LMU DCOM housing page and LMU Professional Housing page as well! You may be able to find roommates from the other professional programs. Definitely check Ball Realty. Be consistent. And grad housing is always an option for a semester! Many students do it! Also you can still hear back from schools while starting vet school. If you hear back from another and you are inclined to go there as it best fits your needs, do it. The question will always be, “Will I be okay postponing my vet journey to gamble hearing back from schools with the chance that I only get into LMU and nothing else?” I’ve had a couple of classmates leave for another school in the middle of the semester.

I interviewed on August 21 and got my acceptance email August 23. I indicated Fall only on my VMCAS application but was still offered a seat for Spring. I declined and requested to return to the applicant pool for a seat for the Fall. I was told I can hear a decision as early as October…I’m checking my email religiously but I’m assuming I probably won’t hear back for a while…anyone else in the same situation?

Yes! The exact same down to the interview date and acceptance date haha

With the quickened interview timeline, I would hazard a guess spring offers will be fully extended/trying to fill last seats by November, and early Fall invites may go out Dec-Jan.

This is a guess on when blue invites may start going out. It really depends on how soon silver is filled.

The other thing to consider is the admissions committee is made up of faculty, so Nov/Dec is crazy busy with finals and holidays.

Does anyone know how many students were accepted into the first spring cohort? Curious to know what is their goal number. I keep thinking around 100 but maybe I'm way off.

It was roughly 97 students in my class. It has gone down since some left so my class is roughly 93. Their goal is 100 but probably expect it to be a little less.

Hi guys! I'm interviewing in 5 days and I am sooo nervous LOL does anyone mind giving some insight onto what the interview was like? I'm a little confused about the MMI style, does this mean they're all questions giving scenarios and what you would do in them, so similar to Casper? Or is there any personal questions like about your experiences or anything like "tell me a time you showed leadership"? Thanks in advance!

Also as a follow up, are there any questions where you seem to need to know a LOT about the vet field? I'm very anxious and feeling a lot of impostor syndrome, feel like I don't know anything about vetmed despite my experiences. Not sure if these questions are allowed to be answered lol but if they can I'd appreciate any help 🙂

There were 3 stations with different interviewers, 8 mins long. Each one was a situational question related to a current issue in vet med. Less situational judgement than Casper, not necessarily personal questions either.

For me personally, I loved the interview layout. It felt very casual and my interviewers were very engaged with me. You enter a breakout room with your interviewer, they give a short introduction of themselves and walk you through the process. The prompt is provided via shared screen and the interviewers remain in the breakout room while you read it.

And absolutely ask questions if you have the time! I had less than a minute left in my last breakout room and I still asked my interviewer a question! Take a deep breath and believe in yourself. You made it this far which is an accomplishment within itself! Good luck!

I have one more q, and this may be very stupid as I've never done an MMI interview before but -- are you expected to talk for the entire 6 minutes about the scenario? I looked up some sample MMI questions and practiced a few but I feel like my answers are like 1-2 minutes max. Do they ask follow up questions after the initial prompt?

Some may not require a full 6m response so if the scenario wraps early you could ask questions. They may prompt you if they feel more could be said.

For some of the scenarios presented during the MMI, I discussed my answer and had time remaining to ask questions to the interviewer! They are very accommodating and receptive to all sort of veterinary questions.
I wish you the best of luck with your applications! 🙂

If you have any personal veterinary stories that you can relate to the prompts then go for it! They want to see how you can or have contributed to the veterinary profession and how you approach contentious vet med issues.
As preparation, I wrote down some memorable stories/experiences at the vet clinics I have worked at so I have things to refer to should I blank when the scenarios were presented.

Thank you so much! So if you don't mind me asking approximately how long do you think your answers were/should be? I feel like the longest mine has been through my practice is around 2 minutes, feeling like that's probably a little too short. or maybe the scenarios I'm looking at are too simple

If I remember correctly, we are given 8 minutes per scenario. My answers were about 5 or 6 minutes each, so I did not have a lot of time to ask general questions. Although I cannot give too specifics of the types of scenarios, they are relevant bioethical or DEI related questions about vet care accessibility, etc. Just have a general outline of how you want to answer the questions and you will do great!

Do they ask you all of the questions at once? Or they ask a question, you answer, then they ask the next question?

Hello! You have a different interviewer for each scenario and they give you a minute to read it over and compose your thoughts. You are placed into different breakout rooms on Zoom for each scenario. 🙂

Best of luck everyone!

Sorry, I meant for each scenario, will they ask you multiple questions at once, or a question at a time for each scenario? Unless it's only one question for each scenario! Everything I have done to prepare for MMI says different things! Thanks!!

Hi, it was case based questions and it was only one question, for me, for 2 scenarios and for one I was asked several follow up questions (3rd question). I am kind of guessing the interviewer has the options to ask follow ups, or ask personal questions? It seemed like that was possible and my first 2 interviewers talked about things seemingly irrelevant to vet med, but about area (where are you calling from etc.). I think all my interviewers were really open and comfortable to talk to (went out of their way to be friendly and relaxed). It was a great experience. You will do great 🙂

for people who went, how was the tour on friday? i'm not able to visit campus until november

Does anyone have an idea on when the next interview invites would be for fall?

I got an interview invite today!! It did not say in the email fall/spring but I assume Fall as I selected fall only & am graduating undergrad spring 2024!

They sent out a wave this morning! I received one and I applied exclusively for Fall cohort since I'm graduating my grad program in the spring. Seems they may be doing every few Tuesdays for interviews. The last wave was 2 or 3 Tuesdays ago.

Tour was good. Nice to see "the farm". We also went to the main campus on our own and took a look around. We visited with someone in the financial aid office and residential life. They were very informative. Have a list of questions with you.

Does anyone know how acceptance timelines work for LMU fall cohorts? For example, if accepted after my interview will I only have a short window to accept or deny the offer? I feel like LMU being rolling has things happening a lot faster than other schools and I am worried about having to make a decision before I even hear anything about interviews from other schools. Does anyone have any insight into this?

I received an invite about 20 min ago for Spring semester. I am going to take it! Very excited, I also was on the tour last Friday. The campus and program seem great.

The short decision window is only for Spring offers, no Fall offers will go out until the Spring class is filled and the decision deadline will be the same as for all of the other schools when they do (4/15)

I got an acceptance for the spring today and only have until 10/25 to accept it. So the time you have to decide is very fast!

My acceptance says that they are also offering me a conditional Fall 2024 spot if I wanted that instead but I had until my payment deadline for Spring, Oct 25 to accept either offer. So it depends I guess

Whoa really? I thought it was mandatory that schools gave until April to respond for Fall offers, that’s wild

During the tour, they stated their priority right now is spring cohort. They will more than likely not make any offers for fall until closer to December/January.

I also had issues with WES. How did that go with LMU? I've been trying to resolve this issue with them but it's been hard to get in touch.
