They're not that hard and they're VERY rewarding. I always plan to make a bundle when I do. I like to bread them, refrigerate them and let them set, then rebread them so they're really crispy.

Anyway, they're fun. I tried Teriyaki ones, Garlic Pepper ones, and just plain old Fire Engine Hot ones, and I like each one for it's own reasons.

We'll have to have a WINGS COOKOFF followed by an ICE CREAM CRANKOFF!!!

handmade's better cuz you get to pick the fattest wings, marinade them longer than it says, double coat them, deep fry them in grease that isn't old or tastes like onions, then dip the sizzling wings into the 1/2 real butter/1/2 Louisiana Hot Sauce bath. The longer they sit in the bath, the hotter they are..........mmmm then we be lickin fingers. This is the aftermath:

hoowee i'm gonna be makin' some friends. i have the EXACT, 100% accurate recipe for Hooter's Wings and Wing Sauce. I made some for one of my labs I worked for and they thought they were BETTER THAN hooters, if that is even possible. you just wait....

So, a week after I actually took them, here are some pics from my Cumberland Gap trip when I went up to DCOM last week... dial up beware!! hahahaha!!

The next three are a kind of pan shot from a little valley I was standing in. It was actually formed during the Civil War when a Union ammo dump exploded and rained ammo down on the Confederate troops that had surrounded the Union forces there. This allowed the Union soldiers plenty of time to get away, though they lost a bunch of ammo. Its all on a plaque where I'm standing actually. Pretty neat.

Its really easy to get to. The parking lot where you start from is like a half of a mile from our place. And its only like a mile and a half from there to the pinnacle, but its like straight up in some parts. Makes the buns burn 🙂. But its a good hike, and not really that hard. Woo hoo for hiking!!! 😀

You know what would be great? Ice cream and wings. In a cave. Best picnic ever. As long as Yogi bear wasnt in there with us.

All we need is a little fire to reheat the wings and some DRY ICE! Nothing like a little frozen carbon dioxide to make ice cream stay frozen until you get to your destination. It's a family secret at the crankoff. Crank it then pack it in dry ice. Watch all the other families sweat it out as their ice cream turns into congealed runny shakes and we spoon out the perfect round scoop of our delicacies......mwa hahaha hahahah!!! We do have our secrets after so many years..........

oh, and a coupla rolls of paper towels. MESSY STICKY HIKIN! My favorite!!! And don't forget the hot caramel sauce. ON ANYTHING!!! even a stick!

Oh, and as for Yogi, I have Blast Knuckles and a Taser. No prob. Gotcha covered. We'll have a defended perimeter. That Taser shoots a 23 foot set of electrodes. Doesn't cause permanent damage but allows us time enough to gather our wings, paper towels and ice cream and get the heck outtathere!

yeah it was so cool to win chocolate after 3 years of some rich guy coming down there with his fancy dancy gelato maker from cuisinart winning EVERY YEAR! i waxed him with my 14 dollar ice cream bucket from monkey wards. it felt good.

Haha, yeah, I heard about that yesterday while I was at the gym. That stinks. I probably wouldnt have gone at 10pm to start with, but who knows what a little beer could make you want to do? 😉. Kidding. I havent really done much caving, but its only because I dont have the lights and any rope to take with me, just in case. Wouldnt be hard to get, though.

Tangerine Glazed Turkey
Chilaquiles (Tex Mex - very very spicy corn dressing)
Avocado Pepper Relish (15 avocados & caramelized onions -- instead of cranberry sauce)
Twice Baked Potatoes
Gravy out the wazoo
Green Bean Casserole
Banana Pudding Ice Cream with Caramel Sauce
mmmm good!

I have cooked until I have now dropped.
Everything is finished except for poking holes in the banana pudding ice cream when it is semi-set and pouring the caramel sauce over then refreezing.

So here goes. Tomorrow, seating 19 at next door neighbor's and we are having:
Tangerine Glazed Turkey
Chilaquiles (Tex Mex - very very spicy corn dressing)
Avocado Pepper Relish (15 avocados & caramelized onions -- instead of cranberry sauce)
Twice Baked Potatoes
Gravy out the wazoo
Green Bean Casserole
Banana Pudding Ice Cream with Caramel Sauce
mmmm good!

I've been following this thread for a couple months unregistered, but now I'm registered to introduce myself. I'm hoping to start DCOM in the fall. I interviewed March 7th. Evidently this was a bad time to interview because we're being made to wait forever! Good things come to those who wait. I have been checking the phone and mail neurotically. It was a pleasure to visit the school which is in no way exaggerated on here. It really is immaculate.

Good to see some outdoors people. Harrogate is a great area for you if you are. East Tennessee is great for caves to explore. I've been tons of times in local caves. I've never been in one that requires ropes, because that's a little over my head. I'd be happy to take some people some time. You haven't experienced darkness until you have turned your light out in the belly of a cave.

Now a few questions:

Are the letters in the mail system yet?

If not, will the administration at DCOM be working this week even though it is spring break to continue the admissions process?
