I love NAC-O-NOWHERE!!! What a beautiful drive going out there!

My daddy was born on the kitchen table in Golden, TX. Grandpa was an asbestos worker. My great uncle and great aunt lived in Groesbeck, then Mexia (they knew Anna Nicole Smith's family) and they'd kill a pig every time we went out there. My other great uncle and great aunt lived in Mineola, and my great aunt was the only Avon Lady there for years. Dad and Mom were first generation city folk raising us in the outskirts of Dallas. I grew up going out to the country just about every weekend. One minnow bucket could keep me happy all day long. I learned to kill snakes in the San Saba before we swam. When you hit them in the head right, they spin and roll over, exposing their underbellies. My entire family had it's family reunion every year at the Tyler State Park. We even have an albino in our family. And yes, we do have an entire set of teeth between us. So, yeah, homemade ice cream in the summertime is a big thing in my family.

That's awesome! My family lives in Waco now, so I've been to Mexia and Groesbeck a few times. My whole fam is about to move to Virginia this summer... No more 17 hour drives for me!

I hope everyone is chanting as the AdCom makes their final decision on my interview class. I seriously want to go to DeBusk. I seriously want all of you to try my award-winning homemade ice cream, which I make by the gallon.
My famdamily is one of the top awarded families participating in the "Just Like Mama Used to Make" Killis Melton Ice Cream Crank Off every year in McKinney, TX since 1990. Food Network played a tape of me winning my first ever Gourmet award as a commercial. Me with my big old pie face staring up at the camera saying "Put a whole deep dish apple pie into your fresh churned vanilla bean cinnamon ice cream then churn it again and that's how I made Apple Pie with Cinnamon Ice Cream".

Other flavors my family has entered over the years (all authentic):
Red Hots (a huge award winner - bright red - my sister's recipe)
Vanilla Pop Rocks (don't give samples to cops on horses - my niece's flavor)
Blue Goo (Raspberry Cotton Candy with a marshmallow cream weave- my first place in "you made what?" category)
Sweet Potato Pie (didn't win - mine again)
Raspberry Chocolate Truffle (mine - won best chocolate in 2005)
Grilled Peach (my brother's)
Tropical Paradise (my mom's sherbet recipe)
Elvis Delight (Peanut Butter Ice Cream with sliced bananas - My dad's OVERALL winner 2007 - he was on TV & front page of McKinney, TX Gazette, won $75.00 and an old fashioned hand churn. used generic peanut butter with white label that just said peanut butter -- had 25% butterfat...smooooooth)
Goat Milk Vanilla (another one of my dad's- first place vanilla but I thought it tasted like grass)
Sweet Dreams are Made of This (sister in law's mango coconut)
Caramellious (mine, didn't win but kids loved it)
Butterfinger Cashew (my sister's)
hmm, what else?
We have entered seriously around 10 ice creams per year for about eleven years. Hard to remember all of them!
I'll be taking requests. I love to churn!!!!
So be sure and let everyone know out there that I REALLY SERIOUSLY want to come to DeBusk. Powers that be, people at Shoney's, everyone.
There will be substantial frozen rewards for good behavior.😍

You know, with all the ones we've submitted I'm surprised that we haven't had more flops in the crank-offs we attend every year.

So far no calls, but it's just noon on Tuesday. I'm HOPING!!!

Oh, heck yes! But as Nascardoc told me the other night, you work hard so you can play hard. And laugh. A lot. No seriously, like more than you think you ever could. I plan on laughing a whole lot. Mostly because the stuff we are gonna be going over will be ridiculous at the speed we will be going over it. But I still cant wait. 🙂 I'm a dork.

For those waiting for calls, I am going to guess that he is backed up in getting stuff done due to his week at a conference. I honestly have no idea, so I am only guessing. I know he still at to meet with Paul Carney regarding some files, so whenever that gets done, then things should happen. Hopefully that will be soon b/c I feel for you guys.....waiting sucks.

And yes Rose, you guys will be laughing...a lot. It is the best stress reliever. You will watch stupid YouTube videos and pee in your pants. You will figure out the humor of your new friends and enjoy making them laugh even more.

This is very true. Many a time when I should have been studying I was being distracted by ND and his many, many, many youtube videos. But really though, the delirium is quite fun and comforting once you get used to it.

Also, sherruns - I actually just lol'ed when i scrolled down to that picture. It was completely unexpected and I give you two thumbs up 👍👍. Also, those are the dogs that basically ALWAYS win the ugliest dog competitions. Aren't they like a chinese crested something or another?

As for the Baby Poop Orange Fan that visits here on occasion...he ought to recognize this as the logo of the school with one of the most brutal football coaches I've seen in a while...but somehow manages to beat the team from UTerus all the time. I swear, Mack Brown pees his pants when he sees this:

This actually becomes a past time, at least for me. I've got friends that sit in the front row on the podium side, so the teachers are in front of them all time. I'm just trying for the day when I can get the to randomly laugh out loud in front of the class. I almost had one the other day too...

And uhhh....yea, I totally pay attention in all the lectures...

Hey! I'm one of those friends that sits in the front row and I'm not falling for your evil little games... The nameless red head that sits next to me is fair game, though. .. and actually, you did get her to lol... I sawrrr it!

What almost got me in trouble was the St. Pats JibJab thing that I put some of our faces in.. including the guy (nameless again) that sits to my left... The character with his face on it started doing a jig and kicking its feet up and we got the giggles so bad that we were crying and had to put our heads down to keep from making a scene. The only thing that saved us was that we were in a pharm lecture where the prof was at a remote site.

well at least you haven't been waiting for the phone call for over a week!!! my interview was on 2/29....and he was out of town all last week so we still haven't heard anything. i've literally been staring at my phone for days on end. yesterday i got a text message so my phone vibrated and i about had a heart attack...i was so mad when i saw it was just a text haha. luckily today is a crazy busy day at work for me so i can't just sit there and stare at it.

No, no, you need to have banana with chocolate sprinkles at marble slab. The best. ice cream. ever. 🙂 Its what I always get. Though I did try an eggnog milkshake over christmas, and it was pretty good. But the banana with chocolate sprinkles is still my favorite.
