I could likely get in a couple of hours of studying over the weekend...but probably not the amount that I will typically do on a weekend. ND how much time do you typically spend studying on the weekend?
I'm sure the class of 2011 can give much better information since they have actually been through this..
but i'll try to give you what i know from other friends who have passed their tricks on to me
Of course everyone is different, but I had a friend who did not study at all on the weekends. He made sure he woke up at like 4 am and studied till about 10 pm M-F......then on the weekends..he dedicated his time to his wife and child
of course this could be a tall tale, he's a genius, or he's just a very efficient studier...but as everyone else said..it all depends on you
Everyone that I talk to for advice have the same theme in common: that is you have to find a study habit that works (flash cards, pure reading material over and over, etc.), set a schedule, and stick with it.
The general rule of thumb is to master what you have learned that day, do not save it for later...you should be able to spit it out by the time you go to sleep
I've also heard about a 3 look/pass method---
1) you should do a quick pre-read of the material in the morning..so you knwo whats coming in class...basically get a general "framework" of what will be taught...just 5 minutes per lecture
2) the second pass will be the lecture itself
3) the third pass will be studying/mastering that same days material immedietly after class ends...so it is still fresh
there is something with memory and retention that works the best when you use this method...don't ask me why...but I've heard it from many friends who went on to medical school
