LSU C/O 2022

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
So did anyone get a status change with this morning's update? None of us IS applicants did (that I've talked with anyway). Hope they tell us something soon, strictly so I will be able to answer all 4,967 questions I'm going to be asked at Christmas dinner.:smack:

The rumor around here is that they are scaling back interviews fairly significantly opting to make offers without interview the top IS students like they did with the OOS pool last year. I doubt this will change my life any, but I thought it was interesting!

I received a status update but nothing changed.

OOS alternate as well. Does anyone know if this is for an interview or a spot?

Is everyone an alternate that didn’t get accepted?

OOS Alternate as well. Wondering if all of us ended up alternates. XD

Arkansas resident. Invited for an interview!

I am AR resident invited to interview as well!!!
Yay!! CONGRATS!!! I am super excited and all the more nervous! I wonder how many got an interview invite and how many will be accepted? I did not know they accepted AR residents without interviewing?

I had never heard of that either! I have two other friends who do not use SDN that received interview invites as well for AR resident.

That’s awesome! Congrats to them as well! 🙂 If the interview is only 20-25 minutes I wonder how intense it’s going to be or would it be just normal questions?!

If you look at the links they provided about preparing for the interview they have a lot of valuable stuff for it! Especially the Interview Feedback on this site, you can see specific questions people were asked, as well as opinions on the level of difficulty.

I am curious anyone OOS been offered an interview? Or did we either get accepted without an interview or put on the alternative list? This whole some people get interviewed thing is weirding me out. Will they be posting more interview dates or is this it?

I think that they are accepting some IS and some Arkansas residents outright and then they are interviewing the ones that they aren’t 100% sure about. I heard that they’re trying to cut down on the amount of interviews they do. Last year they interviewed the top 2/3 of Arkansas residents. I was expecting an interview but found out I was accepted yesterday (super shocked!). But I don’t believe they ever interview OOS. I could be wrong though.

Okay, thank you! Thats so interesting.

Does anyone know what the open house entails for accepted/alternate students? Is it just what is open to the public? I have an interview at Penn on the 19th, and wouldn't be able to make it to the welcome reception, but I'm trying to figure out if it would be worth it just to go to the open house, especially since I am a OOS alternate and there is no guarantee I will even be accepted...

I received an email earlier and this was a portion of the email:

NOTE: Not all students are invited to the Welcome Reception. This invitation is only extended to out-of-state alternates and students who were offered admission without an interview. Because these groups of students are not interviewed, the Welcome Reception is their opportunity to interact more closely with members of the SVM community.
Kind Regards,
Jenifer

Yeah I got that email too, which is what prompted my question about the open house part of it. I can't make the welcome reception.

So is anyone else having scheduling issues? I'd love to go to the welcoming event to see LSU and meet some people but I have an interview that weekend 🙁 What are you all doing if you have the same issue?

Does anyone know if there has been any movement on the alternate list? My portal updates but no change in status yet!

No change for me yet either! I'm guessing there won't be a whole lot of movement until it gets closer to that April deadline

Soooo I know this is paranoia to the -nth degree, but... have any of you other OOS alternates noticed your check box for Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 grades disappear on the status check portal?? What does this mean??!?

Just found this page! I’m out of state and was accepted without an interview on 12/21. So far it’s my only acceptance so I may be seeing some of you soon! Congrats to everyone who’s been accepted and keep heart to those still trying!

Congrats!! I was also accepted without an interview! Are you going to be able to come to the welcome reception/open house this weekend?

No I can’t make it this weekend. It’s an expensive flight so I want to hear from more schools before I make the trip down!

Just finding this page now! I was accepted out of state in December!! I'm coming this weekend for the open house but can't make the welcome reception because I have lab until 4:30 on Friday and can't fly out until around 7 that night!!

Does anyone know if LSU is particularly known for any specialty? I’m interested in exotics/ wildlife so I’d want to know if there are any good zoo clubs or nearby sanctuaries/ zoos 🙂

I think LSU is actually really well known for their exotics/wildlife program. I don’t know much about it because it’s not my area of interest but I attended their open house last year and they did an informational program over it. I think I remember someone saying they have one of the best in the country. I’m sure if you email admissions and ask for more information they call tell you all about it!
I know they have a zoo/exotics club at the vet school and they also have a zoo in Baton Rouge.

Does anyone know if the seat availability info on the status check page is applicants who have accepted/confirmed their seat in the class of 2022, or if those are just the number of applicants that LSU has extended offers to? Just curious 🙂

I'm pretty sure it's the available seats for each class that they were doing this year. It was up on the status check page before they even posted anything about the folder reviews.

So it currently says that seat availability for Louisiana residents is 57/65. Does that mean 57 IS applicants have been offered admission or 57 IS applicants have accepted a seat from the available 65?
