The requirement was like a 494 in 2015, so they have definitely raised the standard, which was the only red flag a friend who did the program this past year had, because with a 501 you can get into almost any US medical school as a URM.... so it's just kind of like why did they do that. They also didn't accept as many people into the medical school this past year, so it was more of a 50% acceptance rate for M.D. at meharry through the MHS program.

Did those ppl meet the admissions standards? If they did and we’re still rejected then that’s a problem. I thought everyone that met the requirements were automatically accepted
 
All of this Meharry... is not cute! But then again they were offering IIs to people who didn't even complete the secondary, so...

edit: I will continue to hope for the best, but this is just all kinda disheartening :/

Has anybody from the dental school side been accepted into the MHS program yet?

Eh ... I feel so indifferent now. As far as the II situation goes, that was completely foul. I get that they’re trying to increase their stats by selecting competitive applicants, but interviewing and accepting people who didn’t submit a secondary was disrespectful to those that did.

I don’t think (well, I’m hoping) they changed the priority deadline. Maybe they just gave different groups different dates depending on when they were invited to complete the application.

I think they had good intentions, but their approach this cycle was out in left field.
 
So, I called a few minutes ago to inquire if there was any update for the application cycle for us and was told there's no way to know, no one was in the admissions to speak with at this time and they don't give out update info via phone nor email.
 
Where does it say April 26th? Anybody have any idea why they keep extending? They didn't mention the MHS or the med school, really just says rejection : (
 
I don’t get why they keep extending the deadline. Maybe some applicants got denied to the MD program today and so they keep sending this same formatted email to everyone just with the date change. This is way too scattered for me

You applied to both the MHS program and to the med school this past cycle?

I’m stupid sorry guys ‍♂ Saw rejection and freaked out. They sent me a rejection and invite last month and today they sent another rejection email ( like a duplicate )to me, then sent another invite email, when they did this last month. Saw rejection and lost it a bit sorry guys

EDIT: found out it was a duplicate only after I read it carefully

Same with me. My heart dropped for a moment, thinking i got rejected to the MHS program. But it was for the medical school and then i got the invite for the MHS program again. Even though i already submitted my MHS application by April 1st. It seems like they are just sending the invites out again.. like someone said earlier maybe to those who were just rejected to the med school..idk, but they need to get it together.

hey guys! I have a quick question! did you all fill out your fafsa for this year? I am kind of stressed about loans/financial aid about this program and how that would work in general? thanks so much!

I did
 
I personally never got a reject letter from the med school just got the invite to the masters program after I submitted my secondary earlier this month

Yes, I also filled out my FAFSA earlier.. hopefully u were able to do yours before the deadline! Also, even if u submit and get it processed, you can always change the school selection anytime if you have several on there.. they will quickly re-process it for u 🙂 I just narrowed down my school list after getting some more rejections, just so that they can start having an idea of which school the federal loans is goanna be going to.. yep, I am already enrolled in a Kaplan plus course and so far I like it. (I got it for half the price hehe).
If all goes well, I will retake it at the end of June to either reapply(hoping it's not too late) or start this program

Thanks so much I didn’t think I had any chance of getting in anywhere so I never did my fafsa but I just checked online and it says I can still do it! I will just have a lesser chance of getting funds !!

FACTS! Between waiting for an answer and wondering if I’m really ready to uproot my life somewhere else just to do a masters while hoping for the best has my stomach in knots. Not trying to block a blessing I just don’t really know what to truly expect good and bad. Especially being located in Nashville. But this is all apart of dream chasing I guess.
 
I feel you guys 🙁 I am trying to be more patient, telling myself "give them time because Easter just passed".... hopefully we hear back soon because this waiting game is too much.. @Chelsea1027 if you end up calling (or anyone else who decides to call), please update us!
 
Did anyone that's doing dental get an invite to the MHS program yet or is it only medical students?

Exactly, I'm a bit disappointed in this development. But then again I already know how it goes with our beloved HBCUs *sighs*

I have also done another program like this at a DO school and the mcat course was apart of our $10k tuition so it’s kinda crazy that we would have to pay additional for the mcat course

Wait....so you would have to pay out of pocket for the prep course? It's not included to where the financial aid covers it? Wow.
