Michigan State CVM c/o 2016 Applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I applied to Michigan. I'm waiting for the supplemental application now. I'll let you know if I have any questions. Thanks

I was wondering if anyone else got the supplemental application? I just got mine this morning. It seems pretty easy 🙂

I know some people got their supplementals last Friday and they were due today. Good luck!:luck:

Hello! Just wanted to let everyone know that I contacted the admissions office and notifications will be sent starting November 1st.

Notifications of materials received? Or admissions notification? Thanks.

Hey, Just wondering if anyone heard anything today. Were the notifications going to be sent by email or regular mail? Thanks.

Hey. I didn't hear anything, but they updated my course evaluation yesterday... It's my b-day today so I was hoping for a birthday miracle present from MSU, but alas it appears that no info is forthcoming today.

Happy Birthday! It was mine last week and I was hoping for the same thing🙂. What was it updated to?

Hey everyone! I asked her in the email and she said they were being sent through the mail. She also said they would start sending them on November 1st. Maybe that meant they would be mailed on November 1st or they would start evaluating them on Nov. 1st? I dunno. I haven't heard anything yet. Good luck everyone!

Well, if she said they would start sending on November 1st, then they are probably mailing decisions starting November 1st. Some people heard as early as mid October last year. I knew people who heard in November as well. Good luck, guys! Hopefully the letters won't take too long, especially since they are usually mailed first class!:luck::xf:

I just emailed admissions and this is what they told me.

"We hope to begin sending letters to SIS in the top 5% by mid to late next week. The majority of letters will go out in January and February."

Good Luck Everyone

The people I knew who were accepted early had really high GPA's (3.8-4.0)

HOORAY! Looks like you get to start the acceptance thread!

Anyone else heard anything from MSU yet??

Nope, but from some last year's MSU thread, they should be sending out a wave of rejections right around now and then some acceptances around the end of the month. Obviously, that doesn't really mean anything....but I'm pretty much grasping onto any hope and information I can gather....

I emailed the admission's office and they said they should be notifying most people in January/February, and admission was rolling this year.

Admission was rolling??? How is that even possible? You only have a week to complete their supplemental...

I submitted my VMCAS in August

Another round of people will receive admissions this month, in the next two weeks or so. The next round will be continuing waves starting at the end of January until late February. Waitlisters are notified end of Feb. too. Denials are sent in December mostly. I was waitlisted last year and now am guru of the admissions process haha.
Hang in there! Patience is very very tough but a must 🙂

Thanks! Looking at threads from previous years it seems pretty random as to what method they notify you by.. any idea on how that works? oos vs. is? I have been checking my mail like a maniac but then I noticed a lot of people got notifications through email too... I am just going crazy over here.. especially knowing that rejections are being mailed out soon.. I AM GOING CRAZY :bang: *deep breath*

I have no idea how they're rolling.....it's just what the admissions lady told me. I guess that's good-ish news for people who applied earlier right? I've been obsessive too....I keep praying for a text from my parents that says a big green and white envelope came in the mail!! Maybe I should have used my actual address, not theirs....🙄

Maybe we'll all get some good news here pretty soon.🙂

Bahhh I'm in the same boat 🙄 one day I actually drove to my moms and waited for the mailman... of course he came an hour later than usual

Just so everyone knows, they are sending out emails first, so you will get that before your mailed letter!! (I know this doesn't help our obsessive checking of email, but just a heads up!)🙂

Oh gosh - well at least now I know I'm wasting gas!

*refreshes email again*

I heard a rumor today from a first year vet student that they're trying to send everything out before Christmas and that they sent out some letters last week. I have no idea if this is true or not, but I figured I would let everybody know so you guys can be as stressed as I am right now. Seriously, before Christmas? That's SOON. Gahhhh.

The only people who will hear before Christmas will be people with a really high SIS score- those with the best GPA and GRE, nothing about extra-curricular. The people who will hear in Jan-Feb will be those that have outstanding extra-curriculars

Just dont want everybody waiting by their mailbox for the next week 🙂

Hey everyone I just joined SDN (after months of lurking), and I am as stressed as ever about when these letters will come. So what exactly is the definition of a high SIS score?

above 900 is a high SIS score. you need above 790 to even be considered

Hey. I just had a quick question for the guru. What if someone was around a 880 for the SIS. How would that be treated? Thanks for the help!

My SIS score is 962.8

I have not heard anything from Michigan.

I am Purdue Senior, but I am an international student, and I have light vet. experience (around 250-300 hours in private practice and vet. teaching hospital) and animal experience (3 research projects involving live animal, 250 hours for wildlife rehab center intern).

I have V. 690 and Q.770,but I have 3.5 writing.

Maybe that is why I havent gotten accepted even my SIS is super high??

I just received my (emailed) acceptance to MSU. A great way to start Christmas break!

The suspense is too much. I was wait-listed last year because my animal experience was not liked by everyone on the board. I can't wait to hear about this year. My SIS is about 920ish but I did not receive an emailed acceptance like some of you so that makes me very nervous.

Aren't a majority of acceptances sent out in January and February? Can I ask if it's your IS? I've been obsessing over how they do everything and when people get notified and I'm finding that the more I know the worse I feel... I hope this time works out for you!!

Me too!! I am In State. Yes, majority of acceptances are sent out in January and February. I did not receive my wait-list last year until early March I believe. I am just so worried that I again will be overlooked because of people's mixed views on wildlife rehabilitation.

Does anybody know when or if fall transcripts need to be sent?

Any know if they plan on doing another wave of admissions/rejections anytime soon??

The wait is killing me!

Does anyone know if they are going to continue emailing the acceptances before sending out a letter in the mail?

I am not sure if I should be compulsively checking my email or the mailbox. LOL!

I noticed on threads from last year that they kind of switched it during Jan/Feb notifications and were mailing letters? Guess my parents are going to start getting those "did you check the mail yet?!" texts again maybe? :scared:

So I sent MSU an email and they said " We will be sending out more notifications Mid January and Mid February. The latest you should expect to hear from us should be mid February.". Not sure if this is via email or snail mail.
