Midwestern Class of 2020 applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Silly last minute question for anyone who already interviewed. Is there a parking pass needed for the day of the interview? I did not see anything about parking in the interview email.

Hey guys! Congrats to everyone on their acceptances!!!! You guys deserve it! I have my interview tomorrow!!! any last tips suggestions?!?!?!
Wear comfortable shoes! It rained like mad today so some of the areas are very wet and slippery. So very excited for you! Just be yourself and make an effort to ask questions. When it comes to lunch, try the stir fry. It's really good! The first years have our CPR simulation exam at 2:00, so perhaps you guys will get to peek in at us! Best of luck, I will be thinking of you tomorrow! Until my CPR exam anyway...

Nope. When you come in the gate, security will stop you. Just say you're here for an interview. They are all wonderful and nice and will probably just say good luck and wave you through. You can park anywhere for free, including the parking ramp. Faculty parking is the first level of the ramp, so I would park on level 2 if you can. Easiest way to spot a vet student is how we dress. We are one of the classes that is required to wear business casual, so you will never see us in scrubs outside of anatomy lab. A lot of us wear lanyards with paw prints on them around our necks, so if you want any last minute pep talks just find one of us. First years don't have class until 11 tomorrow, but many of us will be around working on a physiology presentation. Good luck!

Welcome to Midwestern everyone that has been accepted! I hope you will join us and be part of our amazing school and community. We truly are like a family, and I can attest to the fact that although there are cliques, for the most part everyone is open and friendly. Feel free to ask any questions since I am a current first year, I can answer a lot of them.

I called and was selected as an alternate so at least not completely denied, right? Hoping for the best 🙂
Me too 🙂 the guy said our interview day had many of the top candidates in one day. Couldn't take everyone at once 🙂

Hey guys! I'm new to actually posting on these forums (though I'm used to reading them!).

I was wanting to know if anyone else was wait listed for an interview? I received the email for the wait list this morning. Also, does anyone know he chances of actually getting an interview if they are on the wait list?

I got wait listed last year and got an interview in March and then got put on the alternate list and THEN got accepted

When did you get your materials verified by Midwestern? I have not received an invite or a waitlist email. I've been in limbo since Sept 24th. And if anything, they would prob go through their alternates first before digging into the waitlist so it could be as late as people getting accepted into other schools or declining their interview to Midwestern. That's just my guess. You can always email them.

I feel bad that you are still in limbo!! VMCAS notified me of my verified coursework on October 13th, I received an email from MWU on October 14th to create an account. October 15th they sent me an email saying they have received everything and will review my application. I was added to the wait list for interviews today. Sorry bullymama18!!

Thanks for the reply!! I was honestly a little discouraged when I first received the email, but am feeling a little better about the situation now.

Like you, I too have been in limbo since Oct 1st stating they received all of my info. No correspondence since and I check my portal everyday too! Pretty frustrating.

You should call them! They are very nice 🙂

I think I'll give it until the end of the month since they have stated it could take up to a month for a decision, but if nothing before that comes, I'll definitely be calling and/or emailing. I just want some good news already!

I'll be thankful and have closure for any news. I emailed if they send out denials too and they haven't gotten back with me. Yeah, it's frustrating since people got verified after us and have already heard and either got waitlisted or interviewed. Just have to let everything play out! If it is into Nov I may call as well. I feel bad because I have contacted them at least 3 times all about different things though lol.

Hey, this might be a dumb question, sorry! I'm late to the application train and was compiling information from different schools into a spreadsheet to decide where to apply next year. I saw on Midwestern's website that if you miss the VMCAS deadline, you can apply directly if you get everything in by March 2016. I tried to look in the thread to see if anyone was fully accepted for c/o 2020 but didn't see anyone? I'm trying to find out if acceptance is on a rolling basis or if it's just interviews on a rolling basis and everyone accepted at the same time after the final deadline. I'm trying to decide if it will be worth it to take my chances and submit a "late" application. Can anyone confirm if full acceptance is rolling or all at once at the end?

Hey guys, check your portals. I had my interview 10/14 and my accepted student checklist is up!!! Wow.

Edit: my interview was 10/14, not 9/14. Sorry.

I had mine 10/14 - just last week!- and see the accepted student checklist. Is this for real!?

My accepted student checklist showed up too! Yay congrats everyone that got in!

I think the above quotes should answer your question.

I have a question because I am new at all this but what site are you going on in a portal to see acceptance? Thanks

I too am still in limbo, I emailed them and they said my application was still under consideration. I guess that is a good thing....

I emailed them last month and my app hadn't even been through the admissions lady who sends it to the committee. I am just going to wait. From the lack of activity of interview invites it's hard to say where they are at with everybody and how they are really going through everyone's apps. I know it's rolling admissions but I feel as though they are sorting them out and going through them differently than just "review as they come in".

Look at the mwu thread from last year, there are great tips! I felt super prepared having read through it.

Just be yourself! They are so wonderful at MWU. It is a very laid back interview. Just show who you are and ask a lot of questions! Bring questions with you to the interview! At the end of it, they allow you to ask a series of questions . So be prepared!

Thanks!! I'm just super nervous! What type of questions should I ask??

Look at their website and come up with some questions. I think there is also a thread on here with some common interview questions.

I interviewed shortly before the hospital opened and asked how they planned on attracting GP clients.

When I had my interview, someone stopped me in the cafeteria and told me to get the stir fry. It WAS really good. And now I feel the need to share that on this forum hahahaha

This may be a little late but I have a rental car. My interview is tomorrow. If anyone wants to go to the airport with me tomorrow you're more than welcome to hitch a ride for 10-15$! Is this extortion? Idk. But let me know.

Good Luck! If you see any vet students today, please excuse our appearance. We are all in the middle of finals week and are exhausted, but happy. We also are allowed to wear casual clothing this week, so some of us may look a little disheveled! Enjoy the interview and ask lots of questions!

Out of curiosity, how many guys are applicants here? Or like how many guys do you see in interview groups for those of you that have interviewed already? I know c/o 2018 was 13% male but I have no idea what 2019 was...

My interview group had 18 people, 4 male and 14 female.

I don't remember how many ppl in general but my group only had 2 males

I think there were 8 in my group. 2 were guys! I wish I could check in with everyone to see who got accepted! They all were so nice

I agree! There was a girl from my group who posted on this thread earlier, but she never returned to say if she was accepted. I do hope she was.

Has anyone recieved rejection letters from them yet? I am wondering if I did not hear back for an interview because the rejection letters were nto sent out yet.
