I am so incredibly disappointed to not have heard from Midwestern yet. My application was received in mid October and my credentials were waaaaaaaay above last years entering class. I'm not only disappointed by also pretty confused 🙁 I had already started looking at apartments, was pretty positive I was going to at least get an interview 🤔
Have you called them to make sure you got everything?
It says my letters of rec had been received on the portal so my VMCAS also had to have been received since that contained my eLORs. Other than that I had nothing else to submit? All other schools received my GREs as well which were sent on the same day. Maybe I'll call but I haven't received notification of missing documents.

MWU and LMU are conditioning pre-vets to think that not hearing something by this point is "late" or worrisome.
I honestly don't think you should worry that much though at this point, didn't they say interviews would be spanning over several months? We have no idea (unless there's statistics on it), how many acceptances are going out and how many of them accept the spot. I've heard of established schools give out 120+ acceptances for 60 seats, and since they are relatively new they might be overaccepting by a large number. So 100 acceptances given out doesn't equal 100 seats. And, some people have already been offered admissions. I understand it's "rolling" but if there are 100 seats and you've been "rolling" since September, I think there's room for worry
I am in 2019 and I think we have about 10 guys or so.Out of curiosity, how many guys are applicants here? Or like how many guys do you see in interview groups for those of you that have interviewed already? I know c/o 2018 was 13% male but I have no idea what 2019 was...
Relax! It will be okay. We are on our quarter break, so the faculty is busy grading our finals and working on our grades. Feel free to give them a call too, and sometimes they are able to tell you if they have reviewed your application. I've got my fingers crossed for you!I am so incredibly disappointed to not have heard from Midwestern yet. That's great!! I also interviewed Nov 4th but haven't heard anything from them... Does that mean I'm not accepted? 🙁My friend who interviewed November 4th just got an email with a letter of acceptance!

Did you check your portal for the accepted student checklist? Also I would call or email to verify with them that you took orgo because I think the same thing happened with some other people and they just had to clarify they met all the prerequisites.
So I just called and I got put on the alternate list.... Do y'all know if there's a big chance whether I'll get bump up to the accepted list? 🙁
I'm also on the alternate list. I just called to get more clarification on how it works. As of right now there are 21 people on the alternate list, but they are still holding interviews so that number is very likely to change. Looking at forums from last year it looks like they ended with 72 people on the alternate list, of the people that posted on that thread 7 or so people were bumped up to being accepted, but the literally didn't hear anything until April 15th/16th and were given 3 days to accept or decline. Every person I've talked to at admissions which has been multiple people I've called numerous times they have all stated that they do move through the alternate list very quickly. However, since the only schools that have been conducting interviews and have made decisions seem to be the rolling admission schools I feel it will be awhile before we hear anything. Last year only 52 of the accepted students put down their deposit, I think that's mainly due to how new Midwestern is, but now they are becoming more popular. So now all we can hope is that Midwestern is a back up school for a lot of the people who were accepted, and that they all get accepted into their first choice schools. We still need to think positively though, being put on the alternate list is not a negative thing, it means the believe we can handle the rigors of vet school, just other people had higher points then we did. I know for a fact my GPA and GRE held me back, but I was just excited to get an interview somewhere. So I just called and I got put on the alternate list.... While I do believe MWU is a good school, has a great program and will produce awesome vets, they really shouldn't be many people's first choice strictly due to cost. Their tuition is super high, so if you get accepted to a school with a cheaper cost of attending, you really should highly consider going there. This is likely why MWU ends up offering spots to a lot of the waitlisted students. They even offered interviews in June last year.I'm also on the alternate list. 1) It's a private school, so no state funding. 2) The vet school is new, so no wealthy alumni donating to the program yet. 3) They have to pay for all those new facilities and equipment, and it certainly isn't cheap! Why is the tuition so high.. loved the school but the increase in tuition is killing it for me.
Ah man, it's gonna be hard to tell. Do you know how they rank the alternate list?Sorry Ashe 🙁 from what I hear, it is surprisingly common to get accepted even if you are alternated. There really is no way to tell how many people will give up their acceptances though! My SO got put on the alternate list for MWU med school, and according to him, MWU does not "number" students who are on the list so there is no way to know how far up or down on the list you are.

I'm sure there are some other reasons too that I'm not familiar with.
Hopefully it will be similar this year. While I do believe MWU is a good school, has a great program and will produce awesome vets, they really shouldn't be many people's first choice strictly due to cost. I'm almost positive they take that into account. I dealt with my fair share of "issues" as well. Based off the dean's PowerPoint presentation they break it down 50% grades, GPA, extra curriculars, and 50% interview and character assessment. The assistant dean also mentioned extra points that could be added to the total overall score as well. So for me I'm pretty sure my 50% GPA and GRE was very low I believe I was just over the average accepted last year and my GRE sucks... But extracurriculars should have added a couple points on to that but not enough to have me compete with those smarties that have a 3.8-3.9 GPA with outstanding GRE scores. At least that's how I interpreted that part of the presentation. Thanks man! I was happy to interview there also. Hopefully most of us on the alternate list get accepted!
My GPA is also very weak due to my medical issue freshman and sophomore year. Last year my GPA was 3.88, but due to what happened first two years, my GPA wasn't ideal. Do you know if they taken that into account?
I called this morning also and I was put on the alternate list and I interviewed on Nov 4th too. I really hope we both get in.So I just called and I got put on the alternate list.... Do y'all know if there's a big chance whether I'll get bump up to the accepted list? 🙁
Good luck to you both! I was on the alternate list last year and I can tell you, it was Awful having to wait. Hang in there though!I called this morning also and I was put on the alternate list and I interviewed on Nov 4th too. I really hope we both get in.
Take deep breaths, relax, and be yourself.Have my interview this Wednesday the 18th! Very excited after hearing so many great things about the school but still nervous...any last minute tips from those of you who have already interviewed? 😵
