He also religiously plays BotC every day so he’s very into this stuff. He’s scary when he’s bad in BotC so don’t underestimate him but also, if he townreads me - he’s right and you should listen lol

“Pretty hard” is a bit of an overstatement in my experience but we’ll see.

Interesting claim.
 
I exist as a false positive for investigative roles. I think in a spy setup it makes sense for my role to exist

You could’ve waited until day 1 was almost over so you could see if anyone started pushing you or done things that’d make them have to pivot around your claim at that point. But what’s done is done, whatever lol

that's assuming there is an affiliation seer in this setup. which yes, probably there is, makes sense with the theme. but also, sdn has been a bit anti-seer for a while and we've had games where there wasn't one despite other indications that there should have been.

By the same logic im informing town investigative.

As the miller im basically only going to either out immediately or try and get killed int he night. But I want to just play it straight up in an enviroment i am not used to

(dont sus me, miller doesnt exist in the town of salem universe 😵)
 
This is getting WAY too meta but I find it hard to believe mods would stick a straight up (town-) negative utility role into the game without a proper balancing role. Like, either we have a great town PR to balance or there’s a vig somewhere.

I’ve also only played with a miller twice in my life so take that as you will. It’s not really a liked role.

Basically a townie that always shows up guilty to a basic investigative role (there are some variants depending on if you’re playing with a role cop or some other form of cop, but that’s the gist).

okay so this claim essentially is a big "well ****" moment.

they could be lying and truly wolfy and we wouldnt know because of their claim, or they actually are and we still overthink it because they will be permantently negative.
 
i mean town PR can confirm this claim as time goes on and we shall see what unfolds at that point in time
 
To be fair, the typical strat with miller is to claim immediately - it lets cop know not to investigate you and could bait a mafia kill. But there are also fun shenanigans with fake claims and mafia pocketing and false pushes. It’s a chaotic role that to me doesn’t really provide benefit to town without any additional night information so I’m not going to get too stressed about it.

I wouldn’t go that far to call it fishing. But it is the kind of conversation that makes me uncomfortable because it really only helps wolves think about what to look for/be aware of.

It could’ve been role fishing. There was nothing in the post to deter a player that’s newer to the game or the miller role from thinking they need to claim to help figure things out - mech-wise. It could’ve been innocent too, but I’d be irresponsible to not even consider it.
 
You can kill me today if you really really distrust the claim, its likely the game is balanced around me being limmed at some point. But if I can be trusted we can get ahead of it in a big way.

Nobody else should claim for any reason today.
 
If there is a vig i'm a good vig shot cause again game likely balanced around the idea that I will be limmed at some point and you know you are not hitting a powerful role, only negative utility or scum
 
That assumes town-affiliated vig and takes balance musings another step further.

Why shouldn’t they just holster until we have strong(er) evidence of another scum instead of wasting a shot on you? If you’re scummy you’ll die eventually without their help.

I'm just making the point its a townsided shoot if they dont have good reads and want to fire and forget

We don’t have newer players atm right? Banger and fruit both have experience. And vamp and mads, based on what I saw last game, seem cautious enough that they would ask before doing anything as bold as a D1 claim.
