Same here
just heard back and basically we just have to wait till the official email, our packages aren’t done yet!
Same here
I haven't heard back...Any international student got any scholarship offer from Columbia? 🙁 or do they even offer scholarships to international students?
it says it in the email separated as loans or need. if you only got loans then you werent awarded anything. How can you tell you got money? If I got an update email but no email that mentions an award amount can I just assume they didn't offer me any money? (My "budget" on the financial aid site lists my need at $65,000 after a $4,100 student contribution.)
Has anyone heard from UNC finaid?
Same.. when did you apply?I'm starting to think I won't get into Columbia because I still haven't heard back...
After seeing the recent influx of posts about their questionable aid packages I feel a little bit better though.
It's in my signature: I submitted via SOPHAS on 12/1 and Columbia sent me an email marking it complete on 12/3. I got a follow up email on 2/1 asking me to complete the supplemental questions (optional) on their portal which I never noticed...I completed it on 2/2 or 2/3 and have been waiting since.Same.. when did you apply?
I heard from my department first week of Feb that they were nominating me for a scholarship and that I would hear if I got it end-Feb. No other details unfortunately.
Oh sorry I couldn’t see your signature from my phoneIt's in my signature: I submitted via SOPHAS on 12/1 and Columbia sent me an email marking it complete on 12/3. HPM, but it's for an MSPH rather than an MPH, so timelines could be pretty different. What program did you apply for?
I wouldn't be worried about lack of research experience. MPH is a professional degree - the expectation is you're coming in to advance your career in your field. You have a lot of relevant experience. Emphasize that - esp. your VISTA position. Focus less on the less important stuff. (College service positions are fine to put in SOPHAS and on your resume, but admissions committees for MPH programs are more interested in professional experience. Stuff like your 2-week trip to Cambodia is also ~fine~ to list, but if you're going to talk about it, only do so in the context of a great story or a moment of learning - not as a vital component of your background). Be specific about what you learned from these positions that made you want to pursue an MPH. Talk about what skills you've gained that you want to refine and what skills you don't have yet that the MPH can give you.
You have very very clear interests as well, that's a strength. Most people come into these programs saying they want to study nutrition or global health. You're already thinking about ACEs and sequelae of SUD. Talk about these in your personal statement.
Don't be afraid to tailor, too. E.g., NC is a state trying to pass Medicaid expansion - it's worth mentioning this in your UNC app to show you've done your homework.
Just curious, any reason you're applying to MCH at UNC and HPM everywhere else?
Where did you see that UCLA's program is more admin focused? I've been trying to figure that out...

Hi Bleedingblue94, can I DM you? We are waiting to hear from the same program at Berkeley.Waiting for Columbia accelerated mph, HSPH mph 45, UC Berkeley Interdisciplinary. Haven't received any news whatsoever in the past 2 weeks. Getting nervous.

i will be there on 3/13 for students day.A few quick questions for fellow Hopkins MSPH/MPH admitted students:
Are you planning on going to the admitted students day on 3/13?
Are there any fellow Health Systems/International Health peeps?
And is there an admitted students group page for MSPH? (I only found the MPH one, is this the only one there is)
Congrats on all the acceptances everyone!
Heard the same from Emory for scholarships today! Still waiting on Columbia financial aid, but had a similarly tiny package from UTHealth which was surprising considering I had previous work experience with the school ♀️This morning columbia offered me 5k in need based aid... and tonight Emory offered me 75% tuition and 2.5k REAL + 2k practice experience award! What a WILD day!!

Yes, I’m still waiting as well! I applied to their health communication and promotion track and submitted my application Jan 8.
Someone posted earlier on this thread that Harvard confirmed by phone that results would be coming out between 13-20 Feb. So not sure if I’ll be able to sleep tonight (and the rest of the upcoming week)So is everyone guessing Harvard results next Friday?

Maybe a dumb question, but does anyone know how a practicum (specifically at Columbia) works tuition wise? Like is it typically x amount of credits that I'm paying for, or since it's during the summer it's like adding on a semester's worth of tuition, or am I not paying any extra to be doing it since it's like an internship? I tried looking it up on their website and couldn't find much info on it.
Is anyone still waiting on BU? I'm losing hope...
I emailed Hopkins about financial aid, and they told me it can still take some time to hear back from them.Hi everyone, congrats on all of your acceptances! Has anyone heard about financial aid for the MPH program at Hopkins? And is anyone else still waiting to hear about financial aid for the accelerated MPH at Columbia? I received the "See what's new in your portal" email from Columbia but there was nothing new.
