Got into Columbia for HPM this morning! I'm in NYC until Monday, really wishing I could make the visit day a week from now...I have a really tough decision to make now, but I'm feeling like the amount of loans I would have to take out for Columbia might be worth it for the reputation of the school and the networking opportunities to follow graduation...maybe...

Ahh thank you!! All the way back on Wednesday, 2/4. I was pretty convinced I didn't get in based on the 3.5 week turnaround.

Awwww... I'm going crazy my interview was 2/17 ---i guess no news is good news? hehe I'm trying to keep those positive vibes floating 🙂 but again congrats!!!!

I'm getting really nervous now as well! I'm not convinced I even have a shot, but seeing people actually receive notification is making me freak out. I just want to know one way or the other!

I feel the same way! Been frantically refreshing my e-mail for the last half an hour but haven't heard anything as of yet... Good luck! I'm hoping everyone here gets good news today!

Congrats to people who got into Harvard today!! So exciting!

On a separate note, UNC is trying to torture me. :nailbiting: I'm expecting a rejection, but I wish I could just know already.

In at Harvard for Epidemiology! If you didn't receive an email, perhaps check the website anyway? I didn't get an email, but found the decision letter waiting.

Also found out this morning I was accepted to the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, so good morning all around! 🙂 Anyone else thinking about LSHTM?

Congrats everybody who got into Harvard so far! My admissions portal still says "Application is under review", so we'll see! Hopefully everybody continues to receive good news.

Hey how many emails did you guys receive from Tulane? I got the "in your selected department awaiting a decision" on Jan 8th and haven't heard anything since. Also, my last LOR came in a couple days after that

Congratulations to all who got into Harvard today! 🙂

Well, finally heard back from UC Berkeley with an acceptance! So it's between Columbia, Emory, UC Berkeley, U of Michigan, UNC, and Yale for me. :-/. Decisions decisions...

That's a lot of great schools! You definitely have a tough decision ahead of you. Good luck!

Yeah here I was thinking that just need to apply, then I can chill. After applying, it became I need need to hear back, and I can chill after that. And now after hearing back from all of them, it's now the stress of choosing, and then I hope to chill. Who knew this would be sooo stressful! X-|

Would any of those who got into Harvard for epi mind sharing the concentration you chose?

Having options is a good stress though!

This whole process has definitely been a lot more stressful than I ever expected. It's such a huge commitment, both professionally, personally, and financially. I went into it thinking that I'd be happy if I just got in anywhere. It's not until you're actually in the cycle that you realize all of the implications and the difficulties that you end up facing when it actually comes down to making the decision.

Given that, I'm actually kind of sad that this application season is coming to an end soon! This years applicants have been much more active on this thread than previous years if you look at post counts. Everybody has been so friendly and supportive of each other. I'm going to hate seeing the activity drop.

BU, Yale AND Harvard all have their admitted students Open House on the same day - March 27th!! How crazy is that :bored:?! I would have thought there would be some better planning/crosstalk involved so we could make more informed choices.

Yikes. I wonder why that day is so popular??

Emory's is that day too... :-/

Epidemiological Methods!

And March 27 is also the day of my statistics midterm....it's a busy day lol. Not sure how I'm going to be able to go to any of them!

I just got in for SM2 in epi! I just checked the website cause refreshing my phone every 5 minutes for an email was torture.

To answer your question, KPZ, I applied for the neuro epi concentration. when I was a psych major I took basically all the neuroscience classes my school had to offer. I want to study neurodegeneration.

Awesome!!! I want to do the neuro-psych as well and study schizophrenia specifically. I guess we will see soon....

Received an 18k scholarship from Boston and financial aid info from GWU...like $55k in all loans and that's just the first year sooooo that's probably a no.

Anyone have any insight into Berkeley's public health school? So far I know that the MCH average cohort size is 8-10 people which is super small but would definitely mean one-on-one time with faculty.

Congrats on the BU scholarship! I got crazy sticker shock from the GW financial info too. I actually called them this morning and asked someone in the financial aid office if I could get an estimate based on part-time status. I thought the financial info had been personalized for some reason. She said they haven't looked at my FAFSA yet, and are getting through undergraduate aid apps first. I'm not sure how it'll affect the amount once they actually look at your FAFSA, but I'm confused even typing this.

Also - Columbia folks going to an admitted students day and are taking them up on their offer to meet with a financial aid rep...how does one ask, "How do your students survive under crushing loads of debt - and, follow up, how long does it take for them to get out from underneath crushing loads of debt?" in a polite manner?

No unc 🙁 so looks like it's columbia, emory, or udub for me!

I scheduled a meeting with a financial aid officer the Thursday before the March admitted students day. I am definitely going to be asking about how they go about considering applicants for that list of scholarships that you see on the website, etc. I think that if you're concerned about financing like I am then its beneficial to talk to someone to get the full picture. Still haven't seen the financial aid packet that is allegedly supposed to be sent out prior to admitted students day... frustrating since I want to be able to take it with me to my appointment :/

I got an eMail letting me know Tulane had received my SOPHAS app and was reviewing it on January 26th. I applied to Summer and Fall 2015 MPH epi. and Fall 2015 MSPH Tropical Med.. I received my acceptance for Fall epi. 2015 today.

If you haven't seen this thread yet it might be useful.

same here....why can't they just send it and get it over with...still wishful thinking 🙂

Congrats! I'm thinking about LSHTM too (found out this morning as well). Did you also happen to find out which program you were accepted to? I applied to two and am curious to see which one I have a spot in!

Just got notification from U of F that I got an $8k scholarship... Meh...

Did NOT hear anything from Harvard. Pretty discouraging. Based on prior years that isn't a good sign but I won't give up hope until I know for sure...

Good idea! A more complete picture of how students finance their degree would be super helpful. Also want to ask them - where do I go to get outside scholarships that isn't a site where they email me daily to tell me I could snag a $10k scholarship for breathing and clicking a link or a scholarship with very specific criteria a la do you live in specific town in upstate New York - no, then no monies? I promise I shall take my meeting seriously, though! :greedy:

GW's cost of attendance email is giving me sticker shock too. I hope more of you guys withdraw from Columbia for epi so us waitlisters can get a shot! :xf::laugh:

I went to an accepted students day today at BU! I couldnt go to the March 27 one so I emailed and they organized one today with about 5 other MPH accepted students. It was very nice and personalized. Also it was really great for getting to talk to people one on one.

For attire, as someone asked earlier, I wore dark jeans (because it was freezing and we did an outdoor campus tour), black boots, a blouse, and a sweater. I just tied part of my hair up so it was out of my face.

Hope that helps!

What did you think of the program?

What did you think of the program?

To be honest I really liked it. Their program has most of the types of coursework that I'm looking for in a GH-MPH program. They were very helpful about explaining the details of the concentrations and how to complete all of the requirements, but still very friendly and welcoming.

My Harvard app is still under review. (AKA rejected, which is fine and totally expected, but you can't get in unless you apply.) Still nothing from Tufts yet. I assume that also means rejected because my correspondence suggested I'd hear back this week.

Mazel to everyone accepted to Havahd today!

I just saw that someone on gradcafe posted that they applied to mt. sinai mph last week and got in today. My sophas was verified on jan 30th and so far no reply.... maybe I should give up hope 🙁
