Congrats on UMD. I'm still waiting to hear back from them too. Can I ask what track/department you applied for?

Again, congratulations to everybody receiving acceptances!!! YAY!

For those of us still waiting - I received an email from UMich telling me they received my application, and then made my account at their Wolverine Access and saw that my application is complete (I applied for HBHE, so it looks like they've finally started looking at apps!)

Also I have my account for Emory set up, and was wondering if anybody knows how to add departments? I applied to BSHE, but don't know how to add my second and third choices.

I got an email a while back which included this;
"If you would like to change your departmental selections, email RSPH Admission at [email protected]. Please note that changing your program selections after your file has been routed for review may delay notification of your admission decision."

I emailed them my second and third choice, but I haven't received any confirmation of such. Not sure if there would be a confirmation either way.

I am not the most qualified in terms of GPAs and test scores, but I'm hoping my overall application would be convincing enough. First-generation immigrant; first person in my family to graduate college; worked full time throughout my college/grad years; written and published a book; etc. I had a great personal statement, and some good letter of recommendations, but I'm still a very long-short candidate (far outside the norm).

Waiting for the response from the college as they extended the Round 1 deadline to december 1, 2015.I applied in and decision deadline is 22 december 2015. Anyone could suggest on the other college to apply with my stats . What are my chances for acceptance at Boston University?

Oops, I read that wrong. Calc AND physics. Took them in HS but never college.

I've been complete for HBHE at UMich since December 2nd and have not heard anything. I doubt they are actually reviewing them at this point. In past years they haven't started accepting people for this concentration until the new year.
Also, congrats to all of you with acceptances!!! It's so awesome to see them start coming in. For those of you with BU acceptances, how are you planning to pay for the astronomical tuition and living costs in Boston? I wanted to apply there but did not because of the cost.

Again, congratulations to everybody receiving acceptances!!! YAY!

Seems like they started. I got an email to specify something in my personal statement.

Has anyone attended one of the SLU visit days? Worth the trip?

Also anyone heard from Texas A&M? Radio silence...

Very excited to see UT-SPH acceptances! Hopefully mine will come soon 🙂
I emailed about sending my Fall transcript (which actually includes a community health course) and got a snippy reply that they do not accept transcripts directly. Hopefully they'll request it, like I've read happening in previous years?

Got reply from BU MBA admission team saying i have wait listed. What are the chances of getting accepted after being wait listed? MPH application deadline is January 6 so now confused. Can anyone provide a suggestion.

Hey Guys, I am totally new to this forum.

Anyone applying to Rutgers University? Is it worth to apply there?

I am applying in Columbia, NYU, Drexel, Rutgers Newark and New Brunswick.
Should I remove any or add as I am looking for schools near New York only.

My score in verbal section of GRE is not even reaching 150 🙁 But I don't think that I have much time left so I am giving a shot. What say?
Is there any chance or should I just apply for next cycle?

If it's not too late, I would highly recommend applying to a few safety schools just in case. With your GPA and GRE scores, I don't think three applications, at top tier schools at that, will be enough. Since you have wonderful experience, you will likely get in somewhere, just not at a top 10. Do you have time to retake the GRE? A high score will help offset a low GPA (I'm evidence of that). Applying to lower ranking schools and retaking the GRE will help maximize your chances for an acceptance. Remember, any accredited school is a good school.

After tomorrow I assume decisions basically shut down until after new years?

Check out previous years' threads and you will see that people with lower GRE scores still get into good schools. Try your chances with this cycle; you can never guess the outcome. If Rutgers has the location and program that you are interested in, then by all means apply. Maybe it would be worthy to contact admissions and ask about post-graduation job placement statistics to help you make your decision.

Hey really thank you for giving me some hope 🙂🙂 It helps 🙂I am definitely gonna try.

Hey can anyone help me with this ?
I am an Indian dentist, I did distance education in Healthcare services from Sikkim manipal University after my BDS. Unfortunately, SOPHAS accept transcripts evaluated by WES only and WES does not evaluate degrees from SMU 🙁
I have evaluated my bachelor's degree. But now I am confused , should I mention the distance course in my application or not ? Because transcripts won't be available. What should I do?? Anyone faced the same problem ?
My BDS degree thankfully got evaluated but how can I just ignore my distance education?

Happy holidays to all of you! Thank you for being supportive and answering each other's questions. 😍

I finally submitted my last application today. It's gonna be really hard to wait so long for a response!

I have the Oregon MPH as my safe school, but I figured I had nothing to lose (except time and money lol) applying to a few big names in the meantime.

Do I have a chance at any of my reach schools?

Yes surely go for it. You never know, your profile seems super and your GRE score can be ignored. Quantitative percentile has more weightage for courses like biostatistics and epidemiology. So you do have chances, least you have your safe school. So no worries. Good luck 🙂

Does anyone know what kind of funding opportunities there normally are for the Masters of Public Health Students. How are some of planning on financing school.

Undergrad School: State School
Undergrad GPA/Major GPA: 3.48
Major/Minor: BS Biology
GRE 10/17 : 152V; 155Q ; 4AW
Experience/Research (please, be brief):
1 yr Research in ecology/development lab

Public Health peer health educator for 3+ years on campus
RA on campus
Worked on a campaign with the D.A. office related to public health
Presented workshops at the American College Health Associations 2015 national summit

I am about to submit my applications in the next few days, but I am worried that I will not get into the programs I want. (BU, Columbia, GWU).
Currently BU is my top choice, but I am confused as to what my chances are of getting into their dual degree (MBA/MPH) program because my scores are not as great. My other choice is to go for their MBA in Non-Profit Management because they have a partnership with AmeriCorps, but I worry that I do not have the work experience they look for yet in the case of MBA's. The problem is, is that I cannot apply to two MBA programs in the same cycle, so I need to choose between the dual degree MBA/MPH and the MBA public and non profit management degree.

Is anyone familiar with Boston University's dual degree or MBA programs or if I would have a better chance of getting into one MBA program over the other? Any help is grately appreciated!!

Interested in: Social determinants; Non-profit Management ; Global Health
Applied: Columbia MPH: Sociomedical Sciences, BU: (dual MPH/MBA? MBA public and non profit?), Emory MPH: Policy & Management, Tufts: GH, NYU: Policy & Management, Wash U.: Dual MBA/MPH, GWU: GH, Tulane: Int. Health and Dev.

Looking for the same answer 😉 But as far as I know, check universities' website you are applying to and you will get info regarding financial aid.

Are applications were almost identical. My GRE scores were 152V/161q/4.5W and I have a 3.71 GPA and I got into John Hopkins for mental health epidemiology this December. However, I am not an international student and I did have 4 years of research experience. You should get into all of the places you applied.

Is anyone still waiting on BU who got the "we will let you know by the end of December" email? I haven't heard yet but maybe we'll get a New Years surprise?

Yeah they may be closed until then. I got the same email. From what I can tell there is a huge spread on when people actually receive decisions.

Your GRE score is excellent and your profile sounds good too. Don't retake GRE. I am also an FMG and till now I have been accepted from 6 schools including Johns Hopkins, Boston, George Washington. My GRE score is lower than you (150v/166q/3.5w). So best of luck.

Wooo just got in to Minnesota 🙂 it's crazy cold there right now, but yay! 😀
I received an email from Minnesota 2 weeks ago saying that I was admitted by the admission committee and a final admit letter will be sent to me soon. Haven't heard anything since. I'm worried

for those of you who have applied to Emory, do you have to log into OPUS before they send your application to your first choice department?

I don't think so, I think your application is automatically sent. I think OPUS is just where they post your admissions decision, but I highly doubt any decisions will be posted before the new year. They also may email you but I'm not certain.
