MPH Fall 2018: Applied, Accepted, Waitlisted, Rejected!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Got into Emory's Epi program! Waiting to hear back from SDSU, UCI, & Berkeley, Also do not know when we should hear back from financial aid for Emory?? I could only afford this school with a significant scholarship.
According to their website, they start sending out financial aid packages in March.

Just had mine at 12:30 and was accepted on the spot after they asked me about my background and issues of importance for me in health policy. Good luck!

Congrats! Does your portal reflect your acceptance?

No, not up on the portal yet, she said I should receive an email in a couple days and then the actual letter next week sometime.

Ok got a $22,500 per year scholarship and grant combo from Yale.

Still hella expensive...

Congrats!! If you don't mind me asking, was the scholarship merit based? I know they said they'd send out info on merit scholarships by March 15th so I'm wondering if they've started notifying people.

BU just sent me an email asking me for my and my husband's 2016 tax returns (pre-marriage) and all the original W2s and I honestly have no idea where half the W2 documents are and they're not accessible online....argh!

For the people who applied other years and are following this thread: do any other schools require this?

Applied
(include the date of application): Emory, Pittsburgh, GWU, UMD and George Mason. I applied to all epidemiology MPH programs and a second Pittsburgh MPH program in public health genetics.
Accepted: Emory (1/29), Pittsburgh (12/12 and 1/8), GWU (12/8), UMD (1/25), George Mason (12/13)
Rejected:
Waitlisted:

I don't know where I should go! I have not received financial aid information yet, which will definitely help, but I have good options and no top choice! I'm mainly deciding between Emory, Pittsburgh (epidemiology with certificate in public health genetics) and GWU. Emory is the highest ranked program and has a great work study system, Pittsburgh is probably the best academic match but I'm a New Englander who hates the winter and GWU is a great program and I already live in DC, so it is the least disruptive to my personal life. I plan on visiting all of the schools but how should I decide? Any guidance would be very much appreciated.

I’m devastated. I only received $10,000 need based grant (per year) for Yale. (I hate to complain.) This was my dream program, but I have no idea if I can drop $70k for my MPH.

🙁 have you looked into outside scholarships?

Hi guys i have a question: I just got news that one of my papers was published (finally) is it worth it to update my application/CV?
I am still waiting anxiously for Yale/Dartmouth/JHU...

I think you should. It can't hurt! And it could possibly cause them to revisit your app, especially if you were on the fence of acceptance/rejection.

I'm really nervous about my chances especially because my number aren't great.... I just graduated a year ago so I don't have that much experience under my belt either. I applied to just GW because they accept DAT so I was able to meet the deadline. Hoping to hear back soon 🙁

Congrats on UCLA!!!

So JHU told you these decisions don't go out until May??? Isn't the usual decision deadline before that??
Yup! Today at the sophas virtual fair they told me that the MHS in epi decisions go out in May and I asked about the April 15 deadline and they said that it’s a different deadline and rather it’s 6 weeks after acceptance. I was very confused and skeptical, but that’s what they told me today.

Accepted to Dartmouth with a merit scholarship!!!
Congratulations ! And also got an admission ! May I ask how to check the merit scholarship? Do I need to accept the offer first? Or it is directly showing on congratulations page?(in this case maybe there's no money for me haha )

If you look at the bottom of the note on the Application Status Page, it should have a link to your merit letter that will show your amount. I'm not totally sure of the ranges, but I'm guessing people will get something between $5k - $20k or close.

The only link I have is this one asking me whether to accept the offer, so maybe it's a sign that there's no scholarship~ But still happy to be admitted! Thanks for helping!

Congrats!! I know you've been waiting for days with them taunting you with the deposit option haha.
Thank you! 🙂
Haha, it was actually about half a day, but I'm not the most patient person around. The fact that I hadn't gotten an acceptance from anywhere yet added to my impatience after I saw the link 😛
