i got into nsu months ago and was all set to go there. but then nycom offered me an interview so i decided to go just to check it out... and lo and behold i was accepted. what would you guys do, based on the schools themselves?

i have the same exact choice to make. since i'm from NJ, i wanted to stay closer to home, even though nova was a great school as well. although many want to go into rural medicine, i'd rather go into urban medicine (if i do choose to practice in an underserved community) - so the 3 month rural rotation at nsu was a little too much for me.

there are many things to consider when choosing. my most important one was location. the school gives you the opportunity, but you make it happen, no matter where you are. good luck in choosing :luck:

That is a difficult one to make, since I'd say the schools are pretty equal in their education and clinical programs (with NYCOM having an edge in hospital affiliations). The tuition and COL are also comparable.

I'd have to use location as a tiebreaker here, i.e. whether you have family close to either school or not.

I don't know much about NYCOM. I applied and interviewed on Feb 13', I recieved the acceptance letter yesterday.
What are the hospital affiliations, and how are their allo matches and what are their boards scores. The students were vague when answering these questions. Does anyone have any inside info on this.

Also I was very surprised by the location of NYCOM, although its in a remote location, I can imagine it being very picturesqe in spring time. It is relatively new and tech advanced campus.

I would go to NSU but I don't know much about there program other than I heard its really nice over there. Didn't they show u guys a match list at interview??? I've looked at the match list for I think the past 4-5 classes that graduated and its pretty good, NYCOM does get good residencies I don't know how but they do. The place u do ur clerkship is

Looks very good to me:)

I had the same dilemma. I decided not to go to NYCOM though it would be closer to home and supposedly have a great hospital affiliations. In terms of the matchlist, if you compare both of them, they both have top ranking hospitals. If you based it on number, NYCOM had better sites, but their last class had more students than NSUCOM did. If you went by proportions, it is about the same.

Obviously, I chose NSU. Although I'm not too thrilled with the months of rural medicine, NSU gives you a good amount of time for electives/board prep time. Do what you feel is best for you. Happiness does count.

That is a difficult one to make, since I'd say the schools are pretty equal in their education and clinical programs (with NYCOM having an edge in hospital affiliations). The tuition and COL are also comparable.

The tuition and COL is the same? That's news to me. I think NYCOM's tuition and COL are both higher out of state.

NYCOM tuition and COL are quite a bit higher than NSUCOM's in my humblest of opinions...

I chose to decline the NYCOM interview after my NSU acceptance.

EDIT: sorry for the mental lapse that Dr.Inviz had such a good time with :)

Very nice. NYCOM>NYCOM?

I canceled NSU interview invite after NYCOM's acceptance.

They both are great schools, but i just love NY.
