I saw the Piscataway campus when I interviewed. It seemed nice, but I didn't get to see much except for the main academic building where the classes are. I remember there were a bunch of different study spaces that seemed comfy enough. Student lounge with ping pong tables... Umm, it was a long time ago...
Is there anything in particular you wanted to know about the campus?
I went to Rutgers New Brun for 4 years (stayed at studied right near the medical school) and also researched and worked in the affialiating hospitals (robert wood and saint peters).
The hospitals and everything in New Bruns is top notch. CAB building is amazing (great gym), the entrance to robert wood hospital is very classy with a large atrium. They have a great pediatric hopsital and brand new cancer research center. The staff is very pro-doctor, meaning they will do as much of the doctors duty as allowed by the system. Makes young docs and docs to be lives very stress free. After workign in the ER, we would go to bars on george street. The area feels safe and alive at the same time.
The only caveat is for the first two years you will be in piscataway (10 min drive to New Brun Hospital, the rutgers buses run every 10 mins so not to worry if you don't have a car), but you will be studyign in the Library of science of medicine, or some other obscure nook and crany of the piscataway campus.
Side story, One time my girl friend found a med student studying in the bathroom late at night. In the students defense the bathroom was very clean and had a couch. So there is another plus for the school. It has clean bathrooms with couches.
The piscatway school is very close to the Rutgers Busch campus, infact some rutgers students (like i once was) take some of their classes at in the UMDNJ buildings (very select few, not all). And if you want to relive your youthful undergraduate days you can, by taking a walk (20mins) to the busch student center and playing some dance dance revo or pool. Also if you are into golf, the rutgers golf course is right near by the piscatway umdnj campus.
Also, the roads leading to piscataway have improved 100x over from before. A lot of good things are happening in the area around NB and piscataway, not to mention the rutgers football team is finally winning games.
Makes me wonder if students of New bruns UMDNJ get free tickets to rutgers games.
I know a lot of about the area around the medical school in piscataway, but don't know many details about the classrooms or anatomy lab, or microscopes, etc. Some of the professors I had in undergrad also taught in medical school, and they were nice to me in undergrad and gave good lectures, so they will do the same in medical school i hope.
Hope that helps.
