New Jersey Schools Part II

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hey everyone. I am totally new to SDN although I've been following the forums for awhile. I am curious -- what are the chances of getting off the high priority list this year? I apologize if this question was answered in previous posts.

haha i dont know about you, but im in massive need of hope

right now i have none 🙁

it's like an echo..dude, im in the same position...waitlisted by both, and from reading previous years' threads, im becoming more and more pessimistic 🙁 🙁

What has been said on previous years' threads?

from what i've heard from administration at the school is that they are expecting very very very little movement on the waitlist. Kind of depressing when you get down to it. They said the wait list either moves a great deal or is relativly still. This year they apparently accepted more outright and so are expecting that they will not have to go to the list all that much if at all.

I emailed them and never got a response back. For those of you who did withdraw, how'd you do it and did they respond to you?

hey all u njms peeps out der
i just wanted to know, njms normally accepts applicants w/ what avg. gpa/mcat score? is it tough to get into??
and do they prefer science majors over humanities majors??
i have checked their website, but i would like to hear from people who have applied & gotten in/rejected

lol I'm guessing it doesn't really matter what your major, GPA, and MCAT score is as long as you use frequently use the word "der" in your personal statement.

sending out the letter for njms in the morning... g'luck to all of you waiting!

is anyone else waiting to get off the waitlist (i am waiting for RWJ).. please post any movements.. when should we expect to hear from them? Did anyone find out about ranking (is the waitlist ranked?)

its divided into high priority and regular; both (meaning high priority and regular) are unranked...from what i heard, the class is overbooked, so when the class size gets below its average size, waitlist movement should occur

is there some sort of unofficial ranking? idk, when i called, they confirmed it was unranked...and i think a few other sdn'ers said the same..either way, im still waiting...

I recently withdrew from NJMS via email and never received a confirmation email or anything... has anyone else withdrawn by email and got a notification that it went through?

PS... what happens if it didnt go through and I'm holding 2 spots after May 15????

I never got a withdrawal confirmation either, so I called yesterday to make sure it was received before the deadline. They confirmed that they had gotten my withdrawal several weeks ago, and said that it takes 4-6 weeks to process your deposit refund.

If you're worried about it, no harm in giving them a call to make sure. But I wouldn't worry because since you sent it by email, you have a record proving that you did withdraw before May 15th.

Robert Wood Johnson told me that their waitlist was divided into thirds, and NJMS said there were "clusters" or groups. Within the groups there is no ranking, but you definitely sit in the top, middle, or bottom of the waitlist.

Even though i have one acceptance from a great school i do not have strength to call RWJ (being my top choice) and find out where I stand.. i might call them next week.. good luck to everyone who is waiting.. i can understand how painful the waiting can be if that is your only hope.. Good luck again!!

Anyone here anything from NJMS about waitlist movement? Havent gotten an update in a while wonder if anyone else has heard anything

Word on the street is that they don't begin moving their waitlist until mid-June.

Another word on the street is that they don't like Devils fans lol
Not true, I'm a Devils fan and they liked me 😉

Good luck to all you guys waiting, hopefully at least a few of you will be moving to Newark!

omfg! 😱😱😱i got in, i can't believe it...i was totally speechless when she called!!

i posted the same thing. they dont reply back to the email. but i emailed them a second time and they wrote back saying they already took away my acceptance so go away.

Does NJMS have a separate waitlist for IS and OOS? I know that we won't find out until early june but according to the last years thread, somebody got an offer around this time. Any news?

I doubt they have separate waitlists for instate and out-of-state waitlistees. And yes, I was told that they don't begin accepting from the waitlist until Juneish.

For NJMS, I got a letter stating I was on the alternative list. Is that seperate from the wait list or is it the same thing? If it is seperate, what are the differences?

Also, would updating them now be of any help? I improved my GPA this year and did a few more EC's that I can talk about. Do I just send a letter talking about what I did and why I would like to go there along with my updated transcript? I know I got a lot of questions but thanks for the help.

I don't know what the deal is with the alternative list, but it sounds like you have a substantive update to offer them, so I say go for it. It can only help... Your description of what to include in the letter sounds good to me. :luck:

Hey guys, I messed up and didnt rescind my spot at NJMS until I was alerted today so there should be a spot opening up for you w/l people. Good luck!

I have a friend who was placed on Mt sinais alternate list so I was just explained the difference. The alternate list is for applicants who the admissions committees are on par with other accepted students but there may have already accepted a large amount of students. Therefore, the people on the alternate list are the first ones to recieve acceptances if any spots open up. On the other hand, the waitlist is for applicants they arent as sure about. It's definitely good news that you are on the alternate list!

hold on a minute, can anyone shed any light on this alternate or waitlist thing?

I was placed on the alternate list at NJMS but I thought this was synonymous with "waitlist". Are there two lists??

Sorry to keep on about the HPWL at RWJ, but has anyone on here gotten in from it yet? I know of one other poster that had gotten in around 5/17, but is there anyone else?

Not good news, but here's what Dr. Heinrich had to say about NJMS's waitlist today at the housing day. He said they won't start moving people off it until mid to late June, and that he thinks very few, if any, people will get taken off it this year.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I thought people might like to know 🙁

Yeah, I wasn't sure whether or not to post this, but maybe it's better to be realistic than hold out false hope?

I was HPWL.

Good luck!:luck:

congrats on getting in! i hope more people withdraw so that they start to move through the waitlists faster. Has anyone heard of what the chances are like that they'll get through the entire HPWL this summer? I've heard there were originally about 60 people on it.

I hope it is lower than 60.. much lower..
btw, is anyone here who got into NJMS and in on RWJ waitlist or vice versa...

i second this notion... if there are 60 on the HPWL, the non-HP's are in for a hurting

name your source, fellow

i dont have a source, i just thought it was less than that.

i would like to know where that other person got 60 from though..
