This might be a silly question, but does anyone know around how many NHSC dental scholars there are each year?

I am pretty sure that they don't release this information, but there was a document that showed how many scholars from each discipline were in their pipeline. I believe it may have been in the FY report.

When I look at the contract, I only see my “electronic signature at the very bottom.” But the spot on the contract for my printed name, signature and date is empty. Were any of you able to actually sign and date the contract?
thanks!

Yeah mine says the same thing and they already looked over mine and sent me the EVF forms so i think you're good.

I just received a finalist email and have to respond by 9/12! Which is odd because that is a Saturday. For others that have completed the EVF form, for the "last day of class" did you all put the last day of class this year or the last day of class before the expected graduation date?

Also, I am assuming the "School Official" that must sign the EVF is the school registrar? I was thinking maybe financial aid too but I am not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Congrats! I didn’t think there would be a 4th round, that’s awesome! My school officials put the last day of class as the last day of my last year of school, 5/26/2023, and my graduation date as 6/30/2023. Hope that helps.

Not sure on this. I just had someone from student affairs fill it out. I think it could be any school official, not 100% sure, but those are my thoughts!

Congrats! With such a short time frame I requested the EVF form completion from my school registrar and academic affairs (better to be safe than sorry). I submitted the EVF completed by academic affairs because they had the quickest turn around. Either way I’m sure you’re good as long as it’s a school official.

wow, there is a 4th round? that is different from previous years. The finalists are extremely lucky! Good luck everyone.

I saw in the PA forum that someone withdrew their acceptance last minute so I am sure it was only one person! Not 100% sure but they did say they withdrew their acceptance a day or two ago.

I accepted the finalist award a few weeks ago, I have yet to hear back? Does anyone know if this is normal?

You have to wait till they send out all the rounds for finalist awards. And I think they just finished sending them out this week. So now they will start sending out counter signature notifications but I’m not sure when that will be. For the 2019 year, they notified people like September 9th. For 2018, they notified people on September 14th. So it’s gonna be any day now, I’m feeling like it’s gonna be this week. But we will all know before September 30th.

Plot twist: we find out on September 31st...because, you know, 2020 and all.

Who else feels like its going to be this upcoming week for countersignatures? I don't want to jinx it though. I am also super scared of the chance of not getting one even though most say more than likely we will..

Assuming they have no problems with paperwork, switching of disciplines, or academic probation, does anyone know how common it is for finalists to not receive the scholarship?

I have been told (after bothering multiple current scholars lol) that it is basically a complete guarantee and that it's just hard to believe until we see that signature! So definitely okay to be highly optimistic :)

It really is just super hard to believe it for me but I mean we did sign a contract and give them our direct deposit information so I am more than sure if their were no changes- we are good

The waiting definitely is not easy haha. I would say I am cautiously optimistic.

My Fall semester tuition is due this Friday. If I pay it now then find out I get the scholarship a few days later, will I be reimbursed?

They will refund it and do the switch. So i've already been in school for like 2 and a half months and i was worried about the same thing. My financial aid advisor told me that he will be able to return the loan and do the switch as long as i notified him right when i receive notification if receiving the award.

I told my school that I was a finalist for the NHSC and they said that they would defer my payment until I find out.

My friend who got the scholarship in 2019 said she didn't get a counter sign until 9/30. Do they do multiple rounds of countersigns?

Not sure but last year the first countersignstures went out around Sept 19th, so guessing there were more than one, if your fiends was signed on the 30th

Looks like next week is the next opportunity for countersignatures to go out (assuming they don't come out today/tomorrow). I don't see them making us wait till sept 30th but who really knows.

Also, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but an information specialist did inform me that some finalists with no issues in academics or paperwork do not receive the scholarship because of changes in "funding priorities" from year to year. I think all finalists are in a good situation and should not panic but I thought I would relay the information.

Last year the last round of finalist notification and the first round of counter-sign was three weeks apart. If applies to this year that means counter-sign will be around 9/30.... I'm just gonna expect nothing sooner

That is the title of the people you talk to when you call the HRA helpline for the scholarship. But she also made sure to let me know that it is uncommon but possible none the less.

how did you find out?

There wasn't a notification or anything, I just re-downloaded the contract on the BHW portal on my computer this morning and scrolled to the bottom to see the signature from Jamie King. I also tried checking on my phone and it didn't show up there, so it might be good to check on a laptop or computer.

Congrats!!! Hopefully more good news to come for others today. Would you mind sharing the discipline you're in?

It looks like you are an NP, don't they have a separate portal? Any medical/dental/PA get countersigned?
