On the secondary, did people really list every school they've applied to in previous cycles? My issue is that while I'm a new DO applicant, I applied to, ahem, 25 MD schools last cycle and it's really quite embarrassing to have to list them all. Especially the ones I had to re-apply to. Will they notice or care if I leave some off, especially those that didn't interview me and never even officially rejected me (coughJeffersoncough)?

Oh, and I can't get a straight answer from them about requiring a DO letter. Half their website says yes, the other part says no, AACOMAS says no, etc. My emails/phonecalls have yet to be acknowledged.

I kind of did every one I had submitted a secondary to at that point. I don't think they really care much. It wasn't that far off of 25 schools for me

I could be confusing it with other schools. If it was Sarah, then she could be mistaken since she is so new. It could be an honest mistake or just misheard. They told us as soon as the decision is made they go and enter it into the computer before they even print the stuff off...although they did say we'd get notification by mail by this Friday. Which, unless it is lightning fast mail would probably need to be by today.

I just called them, she said decisions have been made but the director has to sign of on them so she said wait about 3 weeks until after you have been interviewed.

Bingo. Everyone who is offered an acceptance has to be signed off on.
Hang in there guys. Not that it's any consolation for you, but I interviewed at Nova in the beginning of February and was offered a seat in April! 😱

It was worth every second of the wait too. 🙂

Now, you can ask me in a week if it was worth the wait after my first physio exam...and I might have a COMPLETELY different answer for you!

The only e-mail I received was for my app (9/5). I sent my sig page shortly after, followed by my LOR and DO letter after that. I'm kinda concerned about that, so I'm going to call in right now!

Everyone keeps asking what the hell is wrong with me. I'm all fidgety and staring off into space. After every class I dart to the nearest computer and get let down.

The only response I've gotten from them was that they received my AACOMAS back in August. BTW I sent my primary in June, so it seems there either very slow or extremely busy. Sent my secondary and signature page on Sept. 8th, and haven't heard a thing. Webstar has no update either. Forget an offer for interview, I just want a receipt for my secondary!

You mean to say that the status box on webstar changed to accepted or you got a big piece of mail saying you got accepted? BTW, I interviewed with you on 9/16.

I have called several times over the past month and have had no luck getting in touch with someone, just keep leaving messages for Sarah (the person that the operator transfers me to) - anyone have suggestions on how to actually reach someone??

I find it odd that the status hasn't changed, since they said that the first thing they do is enter it into the computer system to print off everything. I'm really frustrated right now. Waiting for 3 schools has really distracted me from doing anything productive.

Based on what I've been reading and my own experiences, unless you were verified early in the summer, it's likely you haven't heard from NSU (other than the email to complete the secondary)

Yeah Ive been checking my status at least twice a day too and it is kind of odd that my webstar status hasnt changed being they told me the same thing. Oh well 🙂

After I got accepted, I was called and questioned on my prereq grades - I had a D in the last term of o-chem, at the time. They took my biochem B as a bandaid for my o-chem D. So if you've taken any upper div biological science labs, such as microbio, you probably have a case. Otherwise, you'll want to look into repeating that lab.

Thats good because I do have upper level classes with better grades but I was wondering because some of my MD applications will not be considered because of this grade. Did you end up retaking orgo? Thanks a lot for your help.

I did, but not because Nova made me do it.

If the rest of your app is strong, and you have plenty of backfill bio, then just state in your secondaries that you'll be retaking the lab. And when/if you get accepted, THEN find out if you're required to actually retake it.

I had my interview just yesterday. All I have to say is that the people there were awesome. My interview was very relaxed and chill. The people that interviewed me were very friendly, and kept telling me to relax and what not. I have to say, the campus is amazing. It's massive. We got a bus tour which was nice so we didn't have to walk around in our suits. The students were cool too. They seem to really enjoy the school. What I thought was really cool was that all the students in the health sciences division are all together in the same building. Everyone wears scrubs and the color identifies what program your in (ie/ osteo, dental, optometry, dentistry, O.T., P.T. etc...). For those who have interviews within the next two weeks of September 25th, they said that my group was the first batch of this section. The committee gets together every two weeks to decide who they're going to accept.

wait, do the DO students wear color-coded scrubs to class? like, as a uniform?

just curious. I have seen dental students who have to do that, but never DO students (ok, my experience with DO schools is n=1, so that's not a lot to go off of).

I remember at VCU last year seeing all of their first year dental students in matching maroon scrubs that they had to wear every day. Not that scrubs aren't comfy, but dang, talk about a boring wardrobe.
