So I got accepted a few weeks ago and Im tryin to figure this stuff out. The deadline for us to put down the deposit is December 14th, which is still really early in the cycle for me. I also saw that they interview until March, so what about those people?
Is there any way to delay my decision until after January? I dont want to accept my acceptance here when I think I still have a shot at my state school. Thanks for any help

generally no, you cannot delay an acceptance. ive heard of VERY rare cases where a school allowed someone to do it but its pretty highly frowned upon. sometime you just gotta make a choice or make a gamble.

to answer your question about people interviewing in march.... last years class was pretty set by the end of the year...meaning december 31. i dont remember anybody getting accepted after january. but then i spoke to the admissions department a couple weeks ago and they said they are running things much different this year. so maybe they are spreading it out better?

the deposit holds your spot in the class, it is not like you are formally accepting and are obligated to attend. you can always to forgo your deposit and take another acceptance. only way to know if there is a way to delay payment of your deposit is to call the office and ask. the people who interview after december usually have 2 weeks to 1 month to give them a deposit, whereas people accepted before december had until december 14th to put down the first deposit.

how much is nova's deposit?

Does any one have any idea of what the COMLEX one passing percentage is? And what is the average?

for some reason nova is really secretive about their statistics, and this will probably answer you other question too. At the interview, they said the pass rate for the COMLEX I was in the 90's (but the true passing rate seems impossible to find). As for the MCAT's, someone said that on this forum but it was never confirmed that they are only granting interviews for people with 27 or above.

I remember being told a range instead (between ninety-x and ninety-y percent), couldn't recall the figures but it's pretty darn good.

90.5%. The only reason I remember is that my interviewers referred to the pass rate as being in line with the national average. When I asked specifically what it was, they threw that number out. Didn't ever get the average score out of them though...

so are you saying that they are granting interviews to anyone and everyone with a 27 or above? regardless of anything else on their application?😕

I've looked and done searches and cannot find the answer to this question so i apologize if I missed it.

On the secondary they say to put "level of responsibility" can someone tell me what exactly they're wanting? a description of what you did? or like a scale "low, medium, high?"

I did the secondary so long ago that I do not remember the exact prompt you are referring to, so if you could post the entire question, it would be more helpful in answering your question

I called today and they said that this is completely incorrect. They are not only offering interviews to those with 27 or above. It may have been true earlier in the cycle (but I cant speak on that). As for now, this is not the case. 🙂

Yeah sorry, it is in the following two questions:

If you were employed during the regular school year (excluding summers) while in undergraduate or graduate school , please list dates of employment beginning with your current position along with title or job description, level of responsibility, and number of hours per week.

List your significant health care-related activities since graduation from high school. List dates of involvment, level of responsibility, and number of hours per week.

Thanks for your help!

I just put a brief blurb about what exactly I was doing in each activity. I can't imagine they're looking for anything else without more specific instructions. In any case, they're clearly okay with what I did... 😀

Ok thanks! I appreciate it! Time to go complete this secondary

Hey, did anyone here interview around the week of 10/28? Just wanted to see if anyone got any news about acceptance yet!

In addition, for those of you already in school now, do you find it hard to be focused with the nice weather/beach atmosphere? Thanks!

I was a 10/27'er. Nothin' yet.

You can go ahead and check the acceptance thread, people sometimes post their interview dates with their acceptance date...

As for your second question, I'm not at Nova, but I went to Pepperdine for undergrad, which is in Malibu near dozens of beaches and has a magnificent ocean view. It's a beautiful thing to wake up to every morning and a nice diversion when you and your friends have some free time. Never found that it got in the way of getting work done.

hey guys, need some help here. I'm interviewing dec 1st but this is going to be pretty expensive to get down there and stay. Flights are like 250-300, hotel is like 100 for a night and im thinking of renting a car. Only problem is I don't wanna pay for another night just to keep my stuff at the hotel while I go to this interview since checkout time is 11am. Any suggestions on how others have went about this?

If you're going to rent a car, leave it in the car.

many hotels will let you check out and leave your bag with them in a storage location until you can return and pick it up....call your hotel and ask if they can do this for you i've done it before

Otherwise call the admissions office to see if they have a storage area there. Plenty of students fly out the same day of their interviews, so I'm sure they get those requests often.

Stay at the Comfort Suites, it was like 85$ and they have a shuttle service to and from the airport and to Nova (no need for a car). Make sure to take the 7:30am shuttle to Nova (you'll get there early, but better early than late). Take the shuttle back to the hotel after your interview where you can pick up your stuff that they hold for you, and then shuttle off to the airport.

The rooms are nice too.

Btw, Call them to make sure you have the right comfort suites.

Was there no shuttle after 8? The interview invite I got said to arrive by 8:45, and I understand that the hotel is only 1 mile from Nova.

When I was there they had a shuttle at the half hours, so like 7:30am and 8:30am. I was told based on traffic that it would be best to take the 7:30am one. I arrived early, like 7:50 but just hung out in the cafeteria till it was time to go into the admissions office.
Better safe than sorry.

if anyone else is interviewing next tuesday the 17th and is arriving the monday prior and would like to meet up for dinner or something let me know!

(having all of monday to think about the interview is going to make me go nuts so i would love to chat with someone else going through the same thing)

p.s. i promise i'm pretty entertaining lol

I just completed my secondary. Am I way too late? I have a 3.52 and 25 MCAT. Does anyone have an estimate on how many spots are left? my chances?????

Gracias!

Well, I have decided to choose CCOM over Nova. It was a tough decision and since I know there are going to be a number of people interested in my decision (as well as people possible in the future w/ the same decision) I'll post my reasons in the CCOM forum.

Congrats to whoever gets my spot!!!

Ahh, I see. That makes sense. My friend from Tampa is probably staying with me at the hotel, so the shuttle is my fall back, otherwise I have a ride from her.

Interviewing here next week! NOVA is definitely at the top of my list. Can't wait to see those beautiful palm trees!

Good luck with the interview! Its pretty low-stress (at least mine was). Just look through the interview feedback forum here and you'll be totally prepared for the questions they'll throw at you. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me anytime.

I hope thats not the case this year. I've been complete since 10/1 (not as long as some people here) but haven't heard anything back at all

Wow the medical village sounds amazing! I wonder if anything will come of the "proposed" project... in time for 2014 clinical years :xf::xf::xf::xf:

My thoughts exactly, and last update on this supposed medical village was made almost 2 or 3 years ago. And, now I can't seem to find anything on it, would be nice to see this happen.

Yea all I could find was that the decision was made in 2006 or something... I still like nsu anyway. It would be incredibly awesome though haha

Yep...been complete since 9/8, haven't heard a peep.:wtf:

Our day will come sometime at Nova. Hopefully you have been getting lots of other interviews/acceptances in the mean time to keep you sane😀

Haha I wish, I have 19 completed MD or DO apps and have only heard back from 3, 1 rejection (BU) and 2 interviews (LECOM-B and Touro-NV). I've got LECOM on 12/11 that will be first interview and Touro on 1/11. It only takes one acceptance for me to be a Dr though! After the first I can be picky on where I wanna go

does anyone know if this building exists on the Nova's campus: http://www.nova.edu/cwis/pubaffairs/sharkbytes/2007/july11/collaborative_research.html

and after reading this, http://www.nova.edu/cwis/president/initiatives.html, does anyone know what is going on with the medical village and the NSU Academical village.

Sad to say, no, it does not exist on campus.

They told us that they still plan on building it in the future but that the plans were put on hold for some reason. I believe they chalked it up to something about the economic crisis.

Check your Webstar portal. I interviewed 10/29 and the status just got changed to Provisionally Accepted today. Good luck and hope to see you there next year!

Interviewed 10/29. Webstar changed to Provisionally accepted today...very happy...Nova has been my top choice from the beginning.
I wish luck to everyone out there. Trust in God and your work. 🙂
