Hey, so for the people who are interviewing, when are you all planning on flying back?

I know the interview day's supposed to be over at 2:30, but I just found out I need to be in Philly the next day, which would require I take a 4:55 flight out.

How long are interview days lasting generally? How long does it take one to get from the school to the airport? (Google maps says 16 mins. Is this somewhat accurate?) How hard is FLL to get through in terms of check-in & security?

I would call admissions and let them know the situation. The afternoon stuff is usually more meet and greet and tours. They are important too but the interview should be done by noon. I think it is more professional to let them know then plan on leaving without giving them prior notice.

You could definitely make the 4:55 flight. The interview day is officially over at around 2, although they offer you the opportunity to take a tour of the campus which lasts an additional 45 mins-1 hour. About half of the people in my interview group went. The trip from Nova to Ft. Lauderdale International (FLL) is only 10-15 mins max. The airport isn't huge and I got through security really quickly.

Best of luck! The interview was laid back and I was very impressed by the staff and the campus.

When I was booking my flight I was deciding between a 4:30 and a 6:00pm flight. I ended up just taking the 6pm flight because I just felt 4:30 would be cutting it close (cuz i wanna go on the tour nd such).

But yeah if you didn't do the tour it sounds like you'd be fine

Eh, I actually wound up ditching my travel plans and booking all my flights separately. For some reason it was actually cheaper to book a bunch of 1-way trips than a single multi-city deal. I'm flying five different airlines over the course of the week, but at least now my flight's at a comfortable 7:00.

Hopefully I'll have plenty of time for the tour...maybe even sneak off to the beach to dip my feet in the water or something. It is Florida, after all. 🙂

The school is great the staff was a 10 the only thing i did not like was the demographics of the students interviewn

Dont know exactly what you mean. If you mean ethnicity, my group was very diverse. It just depends on who applys and when interview invites are sent out. Why is this an issue? I apologize if I am reading too much into it but if the applicant is qualified, they will be invited to interview, regardless of race, as was evident on my interview.

Of course all qualified students should b interviewed so u r readn 2 much into it and i was referring to my interview not yours...this was not meant to be a debate it was a comment about my interview.

You mean it was all white boys?

Just put that as the status then. When I submitted mine I had one "interview invite", the rest of the schools I just put "Submitted Secondary" as the status.

To those who stayed at the Comfort Inn... what did you do for transportation to/from Nova? The airport shuttle takes care of at least that part of the process, but I'm trying to figure out if there's a bus or a shuttle, or if I need to call a cab or rent a car.

Thanks!

Droogdoc we interviewed together on 9/3. My letter from Nova came today, so you should have it or get it tomorrow. I missed signing for mine due to interviewing in Erie. Congrats on the acceptance!

For those of you who have received the packet in the mail, what's included? A letter from the Dean of COM, and what else? Required document list?

yea it took my letter three days to get to Maryland. I think it says, they send out the letter on the day make the decision.

I still have not seen my letter but it includes the letter from the dean and I think the most important thing it includes is the things you need to fulfill before you matriculate into NOVA

i got in!!!!! yesss 😀 time to cancel some more interviews, thats 2 🙂

Way to be! 🙂 I, unfortunately, had to schedule my interview at NSU for super-late October 😡 Yet, I'm hoping things look up and they'll want to send me one of those golden letters!

Okay stupid question, does the dean only sign those acceptance letters? In other words, wait-list, rejects and such are from the director/assistant director of admissions?

Same here Grey Wind. I have been complete since early-mid August. They said be patient. I also remember reading on here a while back that they were only interviewing people with 27+ MCAT scores at this point. Let me know if you hear anything.

Hey I needed some help from some current NSU-COM students and would appreciate any insight that y'all can provide.

I'm starting next fall and am thinking about buying a house while I'm down there. Do you guys have any suggestions on where to start searching and which locations I should go for/avoid? So far I've just Googled and used Craigs List to try and find stuff, but I have no idea what's shady and what's real. So ummm yeah, HELP!!!! Haha, thanks in advance. 😍

I live in Plantation and think it is the nicest area around, Davie and Cooper City are good places to live too all within a 1-15 min drive to school. Parts of Sunrise can be nice but it is a bit further from school. I think Lauderhill is kind of shady.

Hello,

Does anyone know where you can see the status of your submitted secondary application? When I sign in to webstar all it shows me is a summary of my submitted secondary application, which I submitted September 25th. I just mailed out the signiture page today (Sep. 29th). My committee & physician LOR were sent Aug. 25th. Do you think they havent begun to process me because I am missing the signiture page?😛

On WebStar, when you sign in under "Admissions", there should be a highlighted link stating "Fall 2009" or "Fall 2010" or something for your application with the submission date to the right. When I click on that I dont get a summary, I get a display of my general info and my status is next to the "Decision" category.

Thanks for the info redrumi.....I saw a bunch of houses in Ft. Lauderdale area with street addresses like SW 50th Street etc. Do you know anything about that area? Haha, in my town, addresses like that are usually not good.

I'm not exactly sure where that is, my address starts with SW 90th.. and is a nice area though. 🙂

Nova's admission office can be a little disorganized, at least it seems. But no matter what the decision is accept/waitlist/reject it will show up on WebStar. If it doesnt change in a couple days call them, considering other people from 9/15 got a decision as well.

Good luck.

Yeah...second that. I've called twice now after scheduling my interview to find out what happened to the follow-up email they were supposed to send. Still have a month to get it, but it sure would be comforting to have some details in hand.

BTW, when does NOVA stop interviewing? Feb? March?

When I scheduled my interview I never got the follow-up email either... I called them up and had them send it to a gmail account and I got it right away. For some reason, my university email doesn't like Nova

When I called to schedule my interview they said I could interview anytime between the beginning of October through March. So i guess the end of march is the last set of interviews for the most part.

You're not alone, mine says "Invited for Interview" as well, and now I've been checking it like a maniac, haha.

you should try to call them. my status said invited for interview for a long time, but then once i got the acceptance letter it was dated waaaay before the day my webstar status changed. maybe the admissions office could give you some early notice

have absolutely no idea, I doubt anyone is going to tell you if they got rejected/wait list letter and who was it signed by. I have not even seen my acceptance letter so I can't even tell you who that is signed by but I am sure its signed by the dean.

One acceptance letter is signed by the dean (Dr. Silvagni) and the other is signed by the Director of Student Services. The dean letter is basically the "Congratulations, can't wait to see you here" and the other letter describes your next steps in the process. Mine said to send my transcripts showing completion of a bachelors degree and to send the signed Technical Standards Form they included and that the $950 acceptance fee is due by Dec. 14. I would think this letter would also say if you are missing any prerequisites as well, at least I would think so.

So I just checked it out at work a minute ago, Accepted! I'm pretty pumped, Nova was awesome when I interviewed there.

btw Interviewed 9/15

Thanks DjD2187 and Droogdoc for your answers. Kramerica, congrats!

Does the webstar say "provisionally accepted" or "accepted"?

We didn't buy a house here but we rent in Plantation as well. We went and saw 15 different places in Sunrise, Lauderhill, Tamarac, Davie, Pembroke Pines....Etc..... I think it should still be in the 2008-2009 thread here. I really like planation. It is close to the school and has good stuff around. Let me know if you have any questions that I can help with because I know it is tough to find a place when you are far away. We did it all from craigslist and looking at apartment websites from Ohio and only came down one weekend. We have been happy with our place so I guess it worked!

The other letter in the packet listing materials that need to be sent also lists any deficient credits. I know because I have a couple that I need to argue.

I am sure current students can give more info, but I thought NSU has an entire housing assistance service as well as some kind of listing. Schools usually also keep a list of places to avoid when students report bad conditions or renters who try to screw them as well. I would try it out. I am almost positive I saw something like that on their site.

It didnt say anything for me. Just to verify my bachelors degree. Good! That means they accepted my "World Lit. in English" class for the literature credit.

Thanks Nikon, It says "Provisionally Accepted."

Just checked on webstar tonight and I'm now "Provisionally Accepted"! I'm SO pumped! Loved everything I saw at Nova and I was really hoping to get in. At this point I am 99% sure this is where I will be heading come next fall.

The admissions committee is getting pretty quick at turning around the decisions, since I interviewed on Sept 22nd. Anyone else that interviewed then get an offer?
