hey guys...

I just called to try to schedule my interview and was told that all the spots have been filled!!! Silly me, waiting until a week after my email to schedule an interview.

If anyone could tell me what the latest date they gave out was, so I could figure out around when to expect the next interview dates, that would be awesome. 😛

wow... they offered you an interview and then told you all spots were filled? Thats not very cool on their part. I'd assume they would at least offer you the next available day. Thats a little ridiculous. Still decision pending for me :-(

Hey everyone. I am an M1 at NSUCOM so if you have any questions you can send them my way. It is testing season so it may take me a day or two to respond but I will do my best. Interviews start this Thursday here and I remember what it was like to be in your shoes (I won't post the interview dates because you don't need to panic). The interview dates fill up very quickly so don't worry if they are a few months away, but do attempt to interview before Feb. If not that is okay too. The key advice I have is to be yourself, study old questions for the interviews (can be found on SDN), have fun, MAKE SURE YOU TALK ABOUT VOLUNTEERING, and make sure you understand Osteopathy. NSUCOM is becoming more selective every year and a good amount of this class that just started only applied to DO schools. NSUCOM loves volunteering so talk about it in some way, and if you don't have much then talk about your intent to start volunteering or something like that. Keep in mind NSUCOM requires you do do 40 hours of volunteering a year while a student.

During the interview have fun and don't freak out! When I interviewed I got a kick out of everyone that overly sweat and had nervous ticks. I kept making jokes just to lighten the mood for the other 20 or so that were there and I felt mentally great for the interview compared to the others. The vast majority of the people that will interview you are extremely nice and great to talk to; granted I got the only interviewers that made me feel like I was talking to a wall. Over all everyone had a good experience and I was able to meet some really great people. The students that gave me my tour are actually good friends of mine now. I will be doing tours at some date soon (just not this month as all the test are coming up). IF YOU COME IN THE NEXT MONTH BRING AND UMBRELLA BECAUSE IT WILL PROBABLY RAIN AS IT IS THE WET SEASON!!!

I want to end by saying that I really enjoy NSUCOM. Every school has its upsides and downsides and I must say that the student body here is really the best. It is very supportive and friendly on all accounts and there arn't many tools (we call them gunners) that spoil it for the rest. Some schools are laced with these and make it a cut throat environment. Our environment very relaxed but studious at the same time so it is a good balance.

We are allowed to do any type of volunteer service out of school. There are also numerous medical clubs on campus that offer volunteer hours every week. You can also do one of the medical mission trips to a foreign country and those count for all the hours.

I called today (been REALLY busy with exams) and they mentioned to call back Thursday or Friday because the earliest interviews they have are in November.. which is a relief for me.. with my schedule I have a little time at the beginning of November. 🙂

I have an interview scheduled for October, but no liberal arts letter. Does that mean my interview will be rescinded? Or can I get away with just sending extra science letters?

Nsu was pretty sweet and has a very low stress interview. If you have a strong file and decent people skills it seems like you would be fine here.
Now I'm off to wakeboard at ski rixen!!!!

I think you have to have the liberal arts letter. Won't you be able to get one before your interview? If not, I guess it wouldn't hurt to call and ask.

I don't interview until the end of next month. I'm glad to hear that you had a good experience there. I hope I feel the same way after my interview, but either way I ended up booking a whole weekend at the beach so, win or lose, it will still be a good trip to Florida. 🙂

I got that one as well and have been complete for a while. I am just going to ignore it. They also sent me an odd financial aid email earlier in the season, so I'm just filing it as a clerical/system error.

Yeah, only if they have an opening though. Just call them up every day and you may get lucky.

Also I decided not to do secondaries on some schools, should I inform the schools?
