is anyone complete at loyola yet? i sent my application in over a week ago (snail mail) and called today and they said they don't have it yet and to call back thursday...so maybe they "have" it but just haven't sorted their mail and stuff? i really hope it didn't get lost in the mail

have you sent in your letters?

can you send in your letters to loyola before you submit the secondary ( i already received the 2ndary just workin on essays) and before you submit that green LOR sheet?

I haven't received NYMC yet either.

Anyone have any idea when Harvard, Stanford, NYMC, Mayo, Northwestern, Rush will be out?

Earlier in this thread, someone mentioned that Rush's website says their secondary will be out on or around the 31st.

I submitted my Baylor application but it submitted as one big paragraph because it got rid of my indentations. My essay consists of multiple paragraphs in reality, not one huge one. What should I do?? Help I am freaking out!

Relax. It probably did that to everyone. Either they're used to seeing that, or it shows up differently online where they view it. Honestly, don't sweat it. If that's the most troublesome aspect of your application you're golden.

my letters were sent via virtualevals about a week ago...i think you can submit LORs before your application...at least I would think so, loyola didn't specifically mention that you couldn't (and the schools that don't want you to do that generally say so)

I agree, most schools don't mind if they receive your LORs before your secondary, and those that do will tell you. If you're sending your LORs electroncially through VirtualEvals or Interfolio, it shouldn't be a problem if they arrive early.

Any thoughts on what this might mean at University of Vermont?

"Your file is complete and has been preliminarily reviewed. You are within a pool of applicants from which an interview may be extended. Please note that this does not guarantee you will be offered an interview and you may not see an update to your status for several months. "

Is being in that pool as good as it gets, or is there another pool that's already getting interviews? I can't tell if it's a hold or not...

I'd say this is just the generic message they send everyone who has turned in all their application materials.

I just sent in my first four secondaries and I'm really not proud of the essays I wrote. They're grammatically correct and they answer the questions asked but that's about all I can say for them. I used my best material in the AMCAS and I just don't have the motivation to go through the whole brainstorm-draft-second draft-feedback-third draft-etc process ad nauseum.

I'll have up to seven more secondaries to complete soon and I don't want to them to get progressively worse. Any ideas? How are you guys dealing with this?

I wouldn't get too stressed. The personal statement and secondary essays have very different purposes. The personal statement acts as the first look at you as a person and not merely a jumble of numbers, and as such, it's good to try and inject as much character and personality into it. The secondary essays are merely a way for schools to ask you some specific questions and hear your responses. While your answers should be, without a doubt, personalized and unique, I wouldn't say it's necessary to put quite as much effort into making them shine and stand out.

As I've said, as long as your secondary essays answer the questions in a way that is personal and not generic, you'll be fine.

How long is it taking in general to post LORs as received on status websites?

With variance among schools, a long time. Buffalo took almost a month. Most places seem within a week or two of when my VirtualEvals packet was made available to them.

has anyone received secondaries from Wayne State, NYMC, and Drexel yet?
Thanks!

So VCU is already sending out rejections correct? I guess mines coming soon... btw anyone hear from vanderbilt lately?

how much are people writing for the essay? they give 4800 characters..which is a lot in my opinion...just thought i'd ask. thanks.

Does Brown screen? I still haven't gotten their secondary (though maybe it's different for MD/PhD?).

This might have already been answered and I'm sorry if it's a repeat. Does anyone know if Duke screens for secondaries? Their website makes it sound like they do, but the MSAR says they don't. Thanks!

Also, viciouz I got my "We are processing your app" email from Vanderbilt about 3 weeks ago. They said it takes 4-6 weeks to get a response about the secondary/interview...

On a similar note, do the adcoms like short and concise for the secondaries? I am having a hard time filling in the given space for some secondaries. My writing style tends to be more straight to the point rather than overly elaborate. Thanks..

It's not necessary to max out the characters in your essay. Say what you want to say, say it well, and that's that.

Got a secondary invite this afternoon (has to be completed by August 8th), but there seems to be a technical problem...I can't access the essays (but there are three, which Northwestern says can be completed in less than an hour).

I'd give them a day or two. Northwestern's wouldn't be the first online secondary to have an early glitch.

Anyone know if Rush uses the same questions each year on their application or are they completely new ?

yeah, ihavent received the secondary yet and i submitted amcas super early, so maybe there are some technical glitches. under an hour sounds nice though.... too bad i doubt that will be the actual amount of time spent.

just got northwestern (pretty much same questions as last year).....for anyone who applied to feinberg and pritzker, are you recycling the same answer for the "personal challenge q?....

Still waiting for NU secondary... I made only slight changes to my personal challenge question between UC and CW, though.

Don't be lazy!!! It feels like soooo much effort now, but think about how much you'll be kicking yourself in the butt later if you don't get an interview where you really want to go and that could be the reason. You've gone through four years of college, eight hours of an MCAT, and the AMCAS...why quit now? Make these last few as good as the first four years of prep. Talk to a friend who got in last year and is just getting ready to go to the school of their dreams, and hear how excited they are and see if that motivates you. Sorry if this sounds corny, it's just too important of a time to slack now.

any IS or OOS people hear anything from toledo yet? formally medical univ of ohio i believe....

did anyone notice that the Georgetown status check doesnt have anything about LORs?

Yeah, they email you when you're complete. I got an email 2-3 days after submitting my application (my letters were probably already recieved).

Can you please post them???

I don't think they do. I got my email a few days ago and you only have to complete the md phd secondary. I heard that they are notorious for only accepting RI or Brown BA/MD students to their med school.

Does anyone know if NYMC, Drexel, and Rosalind Franklin secondaries are out yet?

I got an email to fill out NYMC's secondary on 7/24...I'm guessing they may be sending out emails in batches based on your AMCAS verification date.

i got NYMC's today...why can't all the secondaries be like theirs?

i just got NYMC today, but WHERE ARE YOU DREXEL?!?!?!????

hiya!!

so I just completed NYMC secondary app... I can't believe it was soo easy... I had to go through the directions like three times to make sure I wasn't missing anything... do they screen??

Mel🙂

Got NYMC today too. That graduate LOR requirement may be an issue. MCW allowed a letter from a program coordinator stating that I was in good standing, but NMYC may be more firm about it, dunno.

Seems that way...

A letter from a faculty member in your department is required. This must come from faculty who have taught you in class or have supervised independent research for which you have received credit.

Does anyone know if Loyola will be lenient with their LOR Requirements?
