Congrats on the invites! It's been quiet for awhile now on the MD front and I hope I start getting some more news soon.

LizzyM 65-66 3II from Tulane, St. Louis and Kentucky. 4 rejections from Georgetown, Rosalind Franklin, Boston and Pittsburgh. 1 hold from upstate and waiting to hear back from 17 more schools. Complete end of July till middle of august. This cycle has been difficult but I'm glad I've heard some good news. I love this thread. Keep pushing hard everyone. All we need is one medical school that we like lol. That's what I keep telling myself.

Hold: Albany, Tucson
Rejections: 3 Flat rejections (VCU, IUSM, Oakland) and probably every other MD school as you need a 900 MCAT to have a shot
Acceptance: 1 DO (only reason I can joke around about the poor state of my MD cycle)
Waiting on: Pretty much most of the MD schools I applied to. I've heard back from every DO school I wanted to hear back from.

Haha, in all honesty, you don't need a 900! Just a 508+ (+2 for ORM, -5 for URM).
Let's call it, the SDoc score 😉 lol
But in all seriousness, MD is competitive. What was the "30" for competitiveness is now a 32. These days are rough!

Definitely still is! But considering the average matriculant had a 32 last year, a 30 is still technically below average. Obviously a 30 is still competitive at most state schools, but OOS are probably going to want more.
I thought that MSAR said the average matriculant had a 31?

Hopefully before anyone chimes in further about who's closer to the 31.4 from studentdocftw's post, let's guestimate that the matriculant score will go up by .1, so you're both evenly close to being correct 🙂

Could you be more specific? Is this prior to an II or post interview?
Oh yes thank you, it's post interview.
I'm no adcom, but placing an applicant on hold vs. acceptance/rejection to me means what it sounds like. I assume they like you enough to not reject you, but not enough for an early acceptance. You're going to be on hold until they checkout more interviewed apps. I would anticipate it taking a while before they accept or reject you. Again I'm no acdom, so I'm just taking a guess here.

I've been all up and down this thread, but I'm posting an update to hopefully cash in on some of this "luck" you guys keep referencing.
Acceptances: 1 DO
Interviews completed: 2 DO, 1 MD
Interviews to go: 1 MD
No new II's for over a month...I'm hoping I've got some more love coming my way.

Forgot who was it who mentioned that as the cycle picks up, people will start to get "addicted" to the thrill of hearing news from schools?
Anyway...posting with updates for luck! And as Oct 15 draws nearer, I panic more and more because I could very well absolutely suck at interviewing and not know...

Most Secondaries submitted by mid-july, except Temple.
MD: 6 II (one is northstate though...so I don't know if I should count that! I keep going back and forth with how I feel about it)
DO: 1 II
Holds: 3 (Might as well be rejections, tbh)
Rejection: 1
Opportunities left: 20... (BUT! I just have this feeling 2 of the schools have already silently rejected me, because they screen for secondaries and have not sent me one! One of which being my alma mater.)

To all of you with holds right now, in a previous post I asked "I got placed on active hold, could it possibly be due to it being before October 15th?".
Got in touch with a few people from the school who know some adcoms and sure enough, all interviewees who have their app discussed by the adcom before 15 October are placed either on active hold or rejected. For me, this set my mind at ease because I thought I interviewed well and the school is one of my top choices. Idk if this situation is school specific, but hopefully this is the case for all of you who are on hold as well. Keep your heads up and best of luck everyone!

Rejections: 0 as of now...but a whole lot of silence, plus my LORs weren't in until late August so it's more than likely that my app hasn't even been reviewed at most places yet
Applied to 28 MD schools total - at least I think, I've lost track - so still hopeful for a couple more chances! October 15 (except really the 16th for the school I've already interviewed at) is looming large on the horizon...
