Official 2015-2016: Oh no, I don't have a single Interview Invite thread!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Received my first II of the cycle this morning from Penn State!!! I am very excited and shocked and so happy I finally got one.
Complete in July, 3.66/511, non-URM, traditional applicant.

Best of luck to all on this thread, especially those complete as early as me. You never know what can happen with this process! 😀

Woo, there's hope

Sample size too small 🙁 Maybe they just got lucky.

Also, we don't know when they got their first interviews. 🙁

agilevin got his first interview 10/21, which is about the time we got our first interviews, roughly.

Update for people who are reading this thread with anxiety for the 2016-2017 application season, and beyond: I have gotten four interviews as of late December and my first interview turned into an acceptance. Hang in there, especially if you applied late-ish like I did! Things can turn out well!

Feeling like my GWU and Rochester rejections are coming soon...

2 more rejections today. GWU and Vandy. Ugh not feeling hopeful.

Was there very a conclusion regarding whether or not a hold or silence is better (especially if later applicants have already heard back)?

It probably depends on the school. Some schools don't do silent rejections, so if you're not on hold and you haven't been outright rejected, then that's a good sign that they either haven't reviewed you yet (schools usually don't review apps in order, so don't worry about later applicants having already heard back), or are still considering you. If they do silent rejections, then obviously it's possible that you've been passed up, but it's still possible that you are still being reviewed and might get an II.
Same goes for the hold status, it depends on the school. It seems like at GWU, very few people who get placed on hold eventually get an II, so I would think that there, silence is "better".

Really hope for an IS II this week or any II for that matter...its Friday but historically(after being obsessive and looking at all the schools last years threads) this is usually a good week coming up for invites..Lets all take a moment to pray! Thank You and have a good weekend!!!

+1. Still waiting for that first II 🙁

LizzyM 72 and complete mid August. Complete silence from 22 schools. Starting to regret taking my MCAT so early (summer of 2013). I'd hate to have to retake a 33 for next cycle just because my test "expired". Do any schools accept scores from more than 3 years ago? Not losing hope yet just preparing for the worst.

given your stats/experiences i really expect you to hear from some more schools by the end of the cycle. good luck

Everyone is so kind on this website, thank you 🙂

And for those who are giving up hope, I just want to reiterate that it still is early for the cycle! Each school is different in how long their interview cycle is, but most don't close earlier than Feburary/early March (we still have 5 months!)

I am trying to draft an update letter for schools but not really sure how to go about it?

Is there a certain format to follow or is it just based on what you are updating them about?

I just listed what I've done since, briefly described it and added contact information for the activities

Simple enough! Hoping to get it finished this weekend so I can update schools on Monday 🙂

I basically doubled my AMCAS primary ECs with my update, they were really weak. Hopefully will get some love

Good luck!

That's awesome! You must be a busy guy!

I only have 2 updates, but 1 is a new volunteer position and another is a promotion so maybe schools with love me now

I'm at the 12 week mark for many. I'm trying to believe the "no news is good news" mantra, but... That's wearing thin!

I am sure it is, but as long as schools don't do silent rejections (I'm looking at you Emory..) then no news is actually better 🙂

Yeah I'll be at 12 weeks in a few days too.

3 interviews done (I flubbed them pretty hard hahah, waitlisted at 1, waiting for verdicts from the other 2), 3 rejections, waiting on 7 more.

Maybe I'll go through my list and hunt down the silent rejecting ones... But many schools seem behind this year, and the non linearity of review at places paired with lack of transparency makes me just think it's a bit worthless to do anything more than distract myself until March.

Well... Here's to another week! Good luck everyone!

Luckily, I don't think very many of them do! I just know that Emory doesn't send out any rejections until March or April I believe (cruel, I know).

And yes! Luckily I have been keeping myself busy/distracted with 2 jobs, volunteering, hanging out with my friends and family, and a bunch of DIY projects!
Definitely helps the time go by and I don't find myself worrying as much!

I feel like my 2 IIs were flukes... 1 waitlsit and another am awaiting a decision hopefully if I am WL'ed, I will be at the upper half of them :nailbiting:

I finished up my update letter today and want to upload/send them to schools tomorrow.

Would anyone be willing to take a look at it if I PM you it? It's not very long, I promise 🙂

I am at the 17 to 18 week mark at many of my schools.

I haven't combed through the past year's thread but it does seem like schools are a bit behind compared to other years...Wonder why this is

I forget what thread it was but someone said an admissions member said it was a combination of increased applications and the new MCAT scores being used

LizzyM~75 and i've only received 3 II all from in state schools...Submitted all secondaries mid July. Time to start panicking and looking for gap year ops? This process seems like winning the lottery :'(
