Not quite freaking out, but concerned because of all of the advice on late applications on here.

Don't worry about it!!! I am only active because it is application cycle time! Don't be like us!!11! because you don't ahve to be like us yet!
 
silence since early november... and all I've heard back so far are just rejections... Is it reasonable to assume that it's just not gonna happen this year? getting accepted?? 🙁( losing all hope here...

I've been feeling down about the whole process lately as well. Don't lose all hope quite yet. There is still time. I've found that working out helps me relieve a little bit of stress -- especially running! I just blast some rage music and sprint my heart out -- then I forget all about those rejection emails piling up in my inbox 😉

That being said, if I don't have an acceptance by New Year's (very probable), I'm going to start planning gap year stuff. So there's no need to stress out until then at least.
 
This is my second season applying. And let me just say that the second time around is still stressful, but in some ways, it's a lot easier. Hang in there everyone! and from me to you, not getting in the first time is not the worst thing that's ever going to happen to you! I've had one II this cycle at KU which I am so grateful for; but still, who knows what's in the future? Everyone in this thread is so strong and kudos for following your dreams!
 
Everyone make sure to diligently check your spam folders! I've been following this thread because until today, I was in the same boat as y'all. For some reason, I decided to check my spam today even though every other email from each school has gone to my regular inbox, and lo and behold, my first II sitting for 8 days in spam! :bang: If you use Gmail it deletes your spam every 30 days so I'm now trying to find out if I've missed other communication from campuses. Wishing everyone some buried treasure like I found :claps:
 
wallowing in self-pity was fun for the first few weeks, but at this point, we should try to either strengthen their application or occupy ourselves with our avocations, our lives, and - most importantly - our families/the holidays in order to prevent the anxiety from driving all of us bat-**** insane!!

Stage 1 was October, stage 2 was early November, stages 3 and 4 made for a rough late November...

December is the month for acceptance. It is what it is, and all we can do is hope for IIs and acceptances while preparing for next cycle. The dedicated among us will become doctors - it's just a matter of when! Now is the time to target application weaknesses and make plans to strengthen our viability as MD/DO candidates.

I refuse to give up yet. 19 schools in silence. Two people at one of the schools I applied to said they didn't get any invites until December. As such, I have to continue being hopeful!

The stages of grief thing is intended jokingly haha. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Starting to prepare for next cycle is not the same as giving up hope; it's being proactive.

I need everyone to send good vibes my way come this Tuesday...

Committee is meeting about my interview I had yesterday and is a school that waitlists almost all OOS applicants. Praying for some good karma however :xf:

Last week I got the BU rejection but it was a super nice letter. Kind of like "it's not you, it's me" haha

Pretty sure it doesn't mean anything—programs buy/acquire email lists of prospective students from universities. I get these emails to my school email, but haven't received any in the inbox I use exclusively for med apps.

I won't deny that i have an acceptance, but the issue is that this school is OOS and costs ~65K in tuition alone and is in a city with one of the highest standards of living in the country... I would like to get IIs from my local state schools so that is why I would like to stay here...

besides, I feel like giving encouragement,...

It's not a humblebrag if it answers the question that was asked of him. Telling you that I'm a terrible applicant that won't get into med school because I've only got 17 II's is a humblebrag.

And in case anyone was wondering, it's not II's that I've got 17 of...

Nah... personally, I didn't think it (the city) is anything special and resembled a more expensive version of my hometown :shrug:

@CowboyNiceguy At least you're doing better than I was; I didn't realize the "II" stood for Interview Invitation until my eighth month on SDN 🤣
