Does anyone's MSPE still say not viewable until August?
 
So quiet. Has anyone heard any additional news. I am trying to gauge when to start expecting invites.
 
The only thing i've received is an email from Baylor saying they received my application and they will contact me once it has been reviewed.

In reviewing the dates when interviews went out the past two years, it looks like things should start to pick up between the end of the week and the first week of August. My fingers remained crossed for good news.

This is seriously getting painful. I guess no news is better than rejections!
 
Anyone hear back from Geisinger after that email?
 
I'm trying to be cool and relaxed, but it's so not working. At first I thought that I shouldn't expect any invites for a week or so, but then I got an invite on 7/15 (which I still think may have been a mistake, lol). Then I thought that the day ended at 5 pm and I could stop compulsively checking... Until I got an email at midnight on Friday. I don't think my heart rate will dip into the normal range again until after 12/2! 🙂
 
I feel that today is going to be the day 🙂

I hope though it comes from places where we want to go, not the plan B places

If the past two years tell us anything, it is that IVs don't really start rolling out until the 24th and really pick up around the 28th. In fact it seem the large majority of IVs come in August, many coming in the latter half of the month. That being said, the best of luck; I hope your feeling is right.
 
University of Missouri sent me an rejection letter due to H1B visa status. So far two rejections coz of H1B, this means that no one going to offer me an interview unless they sponsor H1B.
 
Did you try and email then saying you are willing to switch to J1?
 
I have a similar situation but in a different way. I have a work permit and a pending green card application. Should I put my status as a pending green card or valid visa status with work permit. I don't need visa sponsorship.

I know some programs don't sponsor visas but some programs specifically ask for green cards/ citizenship (for funding issues) and I am not sure if my current status would affect their decision in sending invites.

Does anyone have input on this?
 
I think what bothers them is sponsoring visa and waiting for the fellow to join in time, if someone does not require visa , then they dont care

I emailed Tulane about my willingness to switch to J1 and below is their reply.

"I have clarified that applicants must currently have the accepted visa status to be invited for an interview. We can not risk matching someone that for whatever reason does not receive the J1 visa at the start of the fellowship.
Thank you for your interest in our program but this is our policy."

Thanks for sharing, and congrats! Even if I don't get an offer, I just like to know where I stand as opposed to hearing nothing for several days to weeks.

Looks like Vandy was right on schedule almost. However Baylor was way earlier this year, and Emory hasn't said anything to any one that I know of yet.

I don't think it would affect your application much, but I'm not a PD or anything. But I wouldn't start worrying, yet. I've already gotten five invites, but I applied to 40 programs, which means almost 90% of them haven't said a peep to me! It's definitely not freak out time, yet. 🙂

Yeah, judging by last year's dates, it seems most will come in August. My friend who is also applying has only gotten one thus far and he applied to 32 programs.
 
Congrats everyone, the wait is the worst part.

I got interviews from Baylor in Houston, Vanderbilt, and BWH this week! Applied to 45 programs. Creds are US grad, mid-tier academic program for residency, research experience with publications in process of submission.

Nothing so far either. I only applied to 10 programs, 3 of which already offered interviews (Vandy, BWH, Wash U). Thinking of applying to more programs now...
 
Day over in west coast guys. Somewhat of a slow day I hope we hear something tomorrow!!!

I don't mean to scare you or anything, but if all ten of the places you applied are top tier, you may want to broaden your search unless you are a crazy amazing applicant (top 10 residency and med school, big research, great letters, chief resident, awesome USMLE scores, etc). I personally don't think it's worth the risk given how competitive pulm/cc is these days. I know it's expensive to apply to more, but even adding 20-30 more programs would cost about as much as one interview with travel and lodging.

But if you're determined and have balls of steel, don't let me sway you!
