Disagree, and this is coming from someone who has spent many years at both institutions.

Baylor > UTSW > rest

UTSW has too much scut compared to Baylor, and that is really saying something.

Baylor has more big names and better opportunities overall.

Are the 3 baylor programs comparable? Is one better than the other in terms of rank?

Baylor has Dr. El-Serag (AGA president next year), Dr. Kanwal (CGH editor-in-chief), Dr. Anandasabapathy (GIE associate editor), Dr. Graham who first published h.pylori treatment in NEJM and a former ACG president.

If you want to do epidemiological research using the national VA database, BCM is the best program in the US. Houston VA is the largest VA that even does a liver transplant. But it may be not for those who want to do basic science. In basic science, UTSW is better.

Clinical training is very similar b/w BCM and UTSW (County, VA, and private) and both are excellent.

Following on this thread, I would like to know what other programs have strong epidemiological research background? I know MGH/BWH have School of Public Health resources. UW and UNC are also very strong in epidemiology. Any other programs?
 
Any thoughts on Loyola vs UC Irvine if geographical consideration is not a factor?

Yes I got the same and let them know and they said that it was a mistake. I had a hard time scheduling my interview with them too. Not a positive sign in my mind

Can someone please switch UCSF Frenso to Sep 21 from 20 Sep? I need 20 Sep. I can switch for Oct 4 too. Thank you in advance.

question: Mountain Vista Medical Center, Arizona has invited for interview. This is a DO program and I am M.D. candidate. Does anyone know if DO programs can consider MD candidates?

Yes, they can. This is a requirement now for DO programs to accept MDs in order to have ACGME accreditation

My understanding is that most MDs and DOs alike would prefer MD programs. I'm curious to hear if that is the case from DOs on this forum

They literally rejected me 5 times within the course of about 30 minutes. They really hated me.

Uni of Minnesota : I spoke to someone there and was told that they are not going to consider anyone on visa.

Call schedule, scut work, unhappy fellows. This is consistent across multiple fellowships there.
Bottom of the barrel when it comes to Chicago programs.

Disclaimer: this is based on multiple sources who trained there and told me -NOT MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE - but credible enough for me to not apply there.
