^^ Any chance we can try to keep designating 4 or 6 yr in these interview invites (for schools that have both)?

What do applicants want? In person or virtual. I have the option for either at my institution. I would assume virtual since that is cheaper.
I think there is benefit to both. I would probably say virtual but would be happy to spend the money flying if that’s what an institution prefers . I think it depends on if you feel you can get to know the students well enough virtually. I do worry about covid and not being able to go to an interview in person if I were to get it. Im working currently and it’s spreading like wildfire even among the vaccinated staff.

In person with virtual option for those unable to make it. Would be nice to meet fellow applicants, see the program and meet residents

Have one of the interview dates be in person and the other one virtual so that people can choose whichever they prefer. Or have an in person open house like Houston. I think there is something really special about seeing a program in person and meeting your (hopefully) future colleagues.

I had put a deposit down at a completely different dental school but after going to a prospective student day at my school, I completely changed my mind after meeting faculty, students, and deans.

So I was offered an interview on 9/17 to UMich and just got an email saying it was sent in error to all applicants... is this for real?
Yes, I also got an email saying my interview invite was sent by mistake. I didn’t know they sent an invite to everyone though. Not sure if they will continue to send invites in the future or if only people who didn’t get the rescind email will be interviewed for this cycle.

I personally feel like if I'm going to spend 4-6 pretty stressful years somewhere, I would prefer to visit the program and check it out. The extra cost is a drop in the bucket in the long run imo.

Parkland will be virtual this year due to institutional guidelines. December 2nd and 3rd.

Most organizations have come out with a recommendation that all medical school and residency interviews be virtual this cycle. Not sure why AAOMS/CODA doesn't come out with a clear recommendation/guideline.

AAMC: Given the need for all of us to support the nation’s public health efforts, the AAMC strongly encourages medical school and teaching hospital faculty to conduct all interviews with potential students, residents, and faculty in a virtual setting – either by phone or through video conferencing.

How is it even possible for NYU to offer interviews? Their deadline is Oct 1st.

Did anyone who applied to UMich get an email for the interview and NOT get the second email saying it was an error?

I got an interview invite and didn't get un-invited, but my invite email was 9/16 not 9/17

Question about updating CV on PASS:
When you make an update, does it replace your current CV upload, or does it attach it as an additional file to the physical application making it annoying for programs to look/scroll through?

I believe it just gets added on, so they can see both versions.

Are programs interviewing more applicants with everything being virtual?

100% in person IMO. Having been to tons of programs in person I can say I made memories, met people, saw things, and experienced the places in a way that's not remotely comparable to what you'd experience sitting on your couch on a zoom call for a few hours. Sure, it's expensive, but there's no comparison and it was worth it to me.

I appreciate the input. I agree totally.
