Hello there!
I hope everyone's applications are going well!
I had a few questions I'm hoping I can find answers to!
First, for the first few years of my schooling during undergrad, I worked at a broker-dealer in a position that I could describe as a hybrid between a stock broker and customer service. There was a lot of flow through and internal movement through this company, and I went through a few different Supervisors. The Supervisors that were with me for a decent amount of time are no longer with the company, but I think I still have their contact information. First, is this experience, (working full time while doing school, perhaps adding some diversity with my life experiences and/or knowledge) worth putting on my application? And if I do, can I just give the cell phone number of an old boss?
Second question, the same company had a variety of networking groups for different minority or underprivileged populations. Among those are gays, blacks, latinos, women, veterans, asians, etc. The groups provided an opportunity for people in those groups to network and grow, while also providing different service projects targeting that population, for example we went to a veteran homeless shelter to serve. It was a good experience because I was able to meet, interact with, and better understand people who had backgrounds much different than my own. Back then, I did not keep track of the service I did, I just served because I enjoyed doing it. So I only recall a few specific service events giving probably around 30 total hours, maybe more. However, the service hours aside, I still enjoyed networking and helping these different people. Is that something I could also include? And if it is, there was not really a "supervisor," but rather different people would volunteer to be the head of the individual organizations, the person would often change, and they more did the organization, there was not really any supervising to do regarding myself. So instead, I was thinking of listing the names of one of the veterans who I helped and served with, although he was not a supervisor. Is this okay? Or should I try to track down the current supervisor or past supervisor, even though they had little to no interaction with me directly, and probably will have no clue who I am?
Thanks in advanced for your help!!
