Well if anyone gets a fix to the paying button, can they post it here?

It sounds like more people are having the same problem, so it is likely an error on their end.

Yea, even more convincing that it's an error is that schools without prereqs needing to be entered are not turning "blue" either. I'll try to find out from them and I'll post here

You must have missed one prereq for a school @Blueshadow18 .

It's happening for me as well. A few days ago I had the option available to pay for a program but now the option is not blue

Thank you all for the prompt responses and suggestions. It seemed as though there was a glitch with the system. This morning I spoke with an AACOMAS representative who was able to view my application and agreed that there is a system error. I was told I should be receiving a phone call or email sometime today to confirm the updates have been made.... However, I've been checking every other hour or so and still no changes. Once the issue is rectified, I'll be sure to post the updates.

I guess I spoke too soon... After posting my earlier reply, I logged into aacomas and noticed the issue has been resolved. I don't have a "fix" for this issue other than contacting customer service. Unfortunately, repeatedly refreshing the webpage didn't work for me.

Anyone been able to have aacomas fix their MCAT date? When I enter mine, it shows it as one day earlier. The rep I contact said they saw the date I meant to enter, but haven't heard back since.

Q: How do I list Lab courses?
A: If your TRANSCRIPT lists labs separately, then they must be listed separately on your application as well. Please record the lab as it appears on your transcript, with the title, prefix/number, amount of credits, and grade given. If your transcript combines lab/lecture courses into one class on a transcript, they should be reported as one entry on your application.

Yes, I understand this. I can also read the FAQ.

If my transcript doesn't include the word "lab," how is a school going to know I got lab credits?

For the experience section, I had two different job titles at different times in the same organization. Should I list them separately or as one experience?

I have the same problem

I have the same problem too. Do you guys know if it's possible to have our schools registrar change how it's listed on our transcript? Like either include the word lab in it it somewhere, or separate the lecture and lab entirely. I was thinking of asking my registrar, but wondering if it's even a possibility.

After speaking with a couple schools, I learned that you should include the course name and number as shown on the transcript, but indicate lab was included in parenthesis. For example, General Biology 1 (with lab).

I had a course my first semester of school that every freshman was required to take called First Year Experience, its course number is Coll 101. Does anyone know what subject this should be listed under?

Just so everyone is aware there's a delay in the attachment of MCAT scores to the AACOMAS app. I called AACOMAS today and they advised it will be 5-10 days before they start attaching the official scores.

Anyone else done this?

I had a class similar to this, i put it under the subject, "orientation".

Ive seen some questions regarding aacomas receiving transcripts - they just emailed me advising they received it despite me not submitting my app yet.

How bad does it look to have a PS 150-200 characters over? Very very terrible or acceptable?

@lyana

It will look like only 4500 characters, as you can't enter any more.

So, AACOMAS said that, even though I am submitting a committee letter packet with a committee letter, 3 science professor letters, and 2 physicians letters, this will only count as 1 letter for AACOMAS. I'm fairly certain that the school's will see that there is more than 1 letter in the packet but I wanted to see what you guys thought about this. Any thoughts?

Anyone know what "interim" is considered for the coursework entry? I took a may intersession but not sure if this is the same thing

I am sending a letter packet as well through my premed advisor. Maybe whoever you talked to didn't understand your question because I can't imagine all of those letters counting as one.

That's what I'm thinking happened as well. I think he/she meant to say that it only counts as one letter FOR AACOMAS because only one person is uploading the letters. I'm going to talk to my pre-med advisor tomorrow and will keep you updated.

Just read online that many people apply as disadvantaged because: Feeling a lack of belonging: Students from immigrant backgrounds, or who otherwise faced cultural or racial adversity in school, often use this space to discuss those issues.
In this case do you guys recommend to apply as disadvantaged. I came to US at the age of 14 without knowing English, and it sure was a hardship as it affected my social and educational life in the beginning very greatly.

Hello there!
I hope everyone's applications are going well!
I had a few questions I'm hoping I can find answers to!

First, for the first few years of my schooling during undergrad, I worked at a broker-dealer in a position that I could describe as a hybrid between a stock broker and customer service. There was a lot of flow through and internal movement through this company, and I went through a few different Supervisors. The Supervisors that were with me for a decent amount of time are no longer with the company, but I think I still have their contact information. First, is this experience, (working full time while doing school, perhaps adding some diversity with my life experiences and/or knowledge) worth putting on my application? And if I do, can I just give the cell phone number of an old boss?

Second question, the same company had a variety of networking groups for different minority or underprivileged populations. Among those are gays, blacks, latinos, women, veterans, asians, etc. The groups provided an opportunity for people in those groups to network and grow, while also providing different service projects targeting that population, for example we went to a veteran homeless shelter to serve. It was a good experience because I was able to meet, interact with, and better understand people who had backgrounds much different than my own. Back then, I did not keep track of the service I did, I just served because I enjoyed doing it. So I only recall a few specific service events giving probably around 30 total hours, maybe more. However, the service hours aside, I still enjoyed networking and helping these different people. Is that something I could also include? And if it is, there was not really a "supervisor," but rather different people would volunteer to be the head of the individual organizations, the person would often change, and they more did the organization, there was not really any supervising to do regarding myself. So instead, I was thinking of listing the names of one of the veterans who I helped and served with, although he was not a supervisor. Is this okay? Or should I try to track down the current supervisor or past supervisor, even though they had little to no interaction with me directly, and probably will have no clue who I am?

Thanks in advanced for your help!!

i feel like if you have to ask about if you should apply disadvantaged, then the answer is no.

I've gotten to point in my application where I have finished everything. All of it is checked off, but when I go to the Manage My Programs tab, I am unable to pay for them to submit the application. Anybody else having this issue or know why i'm having this issue? The progress bar on each program isn't complete either, but I have completed the entire application. Any help with the matter is greatly appreciated!

Not sure if this is the right thread to post this but does any UC Berkeley undergrad know how to categorize sciences classes in the AACOMAS app since our bio/ochem class requirements were slightly different?

Probably the right thread, but you'd have more success if you either posted it as its own thread or gave us a more broad or descriptive picture in order to help. In any case you can't go wrong with calling AACOMAS.

Chem 1A/3A = inorganic
Chem 3B/MCB 102 = organic

Anyone know how to input AP credits?? My transcript only says "x" credits, not the individual courses, so I listed the individual classes myself.
Right now I have n/a for course code, AP "x" for course title, I listed the subject, credits, and put Cred for grade. Is this correct/incorrect?

I do plan on using the letter service by AACOMAS. Do the letters have to be all in before they verify my application? Can I still submit my application and have them verify the coursework without all my letters being received? Thanks.

It is not working for me right now either.

Quite a few people have had this problem, with no resolution.

Hi guys, I have 2 questions and was hoping for your help.

1) Can I send in my transcripts from my school before I have completed everything in my aacomas application (listing ec's, listing grades etc). Will they hold onto my transcript for me until I am finished and then verify it? I was hoping to send my transcript in now so as not to prevent further delay in the future.

2) This is a question regarding summer grades. I understand that aacomas will not add grades of partially completed semesters. "AACOMAS does not allow applicants to enter a partial terms. All courses for a term must be listed as complete with grades on your transcript in order for you to input the term as complete. Otherwise, all courses for the term must be listed as in-progress." However, I am taking 2 summer courses right now, one considered first term, and one considered second term. There is also the option in the aacomas application to add "Summer 1" and "Summer 2" when classifying when the classes were taken. I am hoping to have the grade for my first summer course count into my gpa, while the second one would finish too late for it to be worth it. Do you think I could add my first summer class (which ends may 30) under Summer 1 and have it count, while the second class would be classified under Summer 2 2015 (in progress)? I am hoping to submit my application as early as possible while having the first summer class count in my gpa if possible.

1. Yes send asap (depending on answer to 2)
2. Only of it appears on your transcript as complete with a grade

Hey y'all, (this may be a dumb question, buuut) does anyone know how to print and/or save a PDF copy of the application? I only ask because the pre-health advising office at my school requires that I provide them with a copy of the completed application before they will write a committee letter. Thanks!

what if I repeated classes but not to get higher grade? (my community college had a 2 part physics program...I only took one before I transferred to a university that had a 3 part physics course so they made me start from the beginning again...). do these still count as repeat courses?

Hey, so I have been swamped for the past few weeks. I plan to start the application the next few days, I have a draft of my PS which I'm pretty comfortable with. I will get a few eyes this upcoming week to look at it. My question is, since my MCAT is in July, is it fine if my application is submitted sometime between June and July? (hoping to get it in by June 15th at the latest).

I do not have a scored MCAT yet and my DO numbers are around 3.45cGPA/3.35sGPA last time I calculated it.

I was thinking of applying to a few MD schools with a 3.45cGPA/~3.15sGPA. I have a small school list of about 2-4 MD schools atm. But a part of me thinks applying to MD as an ORM would be a waste of time especially with that sGPA of mine and nowadays very school have averages lower than a 3.6cGPA/3.6sGPA. I'm planning to apply to about 8-10 DO schools. If I do submit AMCAS it will likely be around mid June. My LORs will likely not be ready until then too.

I will likely get a DO letter of rec by early July, I'm not sure how to approach AACOMAS without a MCAT score. I was recommended by my adviser to only put down one school's name down and then change the application after getting my MCAT score back in August. Is that a good idea?

I will also contact schools to send out transcripts hopefully by this Friday or Monday. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I hope I'm not too late in the game. I do know of people with my stats who have submitted their applications in November-December and got in but I don't want to take that chance and would rather submit my application at the latest in July (which I've heard is still early for DO).

For letters of recommendation, I'm so confused on how they work for AACOMAS. I have talked to all the people who are going to write me letters and I'm not sure how they can submit them. I have heard for DO schools, you submit the letters of recommendations when the schools asks for it and it doesn't have to be submitted in June. Is that true?! I plan to get a DO letter by July.

I actually was confused too and emailed them since I have a letter rec service through my UG. This is what they responded with:

"Hi!

Thank you for contacting AACOMAS!

This is the first year Evaluations are being accepted through the AACOMAS
application. Submitting Evaluations through the ACCOMAS application is
completely optional. Schools will allow applicants to submit them either online
through AACOMAS or directly to them. Interfolio and VirtualEvals should be sent
directly to the schools."

Hopefully this helps!

Oh ok. That helped. Thanks.

By the way for people who have submitted the application, how many nights should it take to finish? I'm nearly done with my PS. I plan to set up the basic information tonight or tomorrow night.

I called AACOMAS concerning where to insert my EMT certification since I did not see a space for certifications or the like after reviewing/finalizing my transcript. They told me to put it under extracurricular activities if anything. I am wondering if I should even add the certification because I didn't have a chance to find a job utilizing the EMT course. Any opinions?

Hey guys just needed a clarification:

1) Do schools look down upon not including a supervisor name and contact info for ECs ?

2) Are our LoR sent directly to AACOMAS via/ the person that is writing the letter, or will I have to add LoR myself to the online application ?

Thanks

The PDF of the app is there once you e-submit. GPA won't be there until verified.

A: GPA calculations can be viewed in the application PDF which is available from the “Program Status” tab of your application AFTER your application has been verified by AACOMAS. Click on the blue icon in the upper right of each program you have applied to to bring up your application PDF.

Does anyone know under which category I should list my research experiences? Extracurricular or Paid Non-Medical Employment or something else? What if my research is actually medical? Thanks!

How specific should I be in the total number of hours for experiences? Obviously shadowing can be very specific, but a sports team for example can i just multiple average hours a week by number of total weeks or is that looked down upon because it isn't specific enough?

edit: Just kidding figured it out lol

My advisor told me that as long as you give them an approximate number of weeks, that should be enough. Make sure to take into account holidays and summer time-offs so they won't question you just in case...

Please be aware that application procedures are subject to change year to year and regretfully, this change you requested cannot be accommodated. Please feel free to contact us via our customer service help desk should you have additional questions. Thanks again.

So my appeals to AACOM HQ and AACOMAS have failed. No reversing/grandfathering in of exclusion of professional coursework in GPAs this cycle. My issue probably only affects ~3% of applicants, but I guess they need to start thinning the herd of applicants somehow. Lesson #1 - don't f*!# up when you're young. Lesson #2 - don't take your pretty little time making up for your mistakes because they can change the rules any time they want.

What did you put for the "type of recognition" check box?
