Thanks! I'm so excited (talk about a dream come true!!!)... still waiting to hear back from a couple others I'm really interested in (Davis, my IS, and UPenn). The vet I worked with for the past year and a half went to Penn and so is partial to that school, rather than Cornell (their apparent rival?), heehee.

cornell?? pshhh lol

davis and penn would be a hard choice! both great schools. both have good student morale. i think it will probably come down to the environment (city or not) and if you're interested in a research job or not (i think penn has better opportunities here). but like i said, both amazing

edit: you know what i thought was hilarious, so i guess cornell and penn are rivals.... but lots of students from cornell come to penn during clinics because we have such a big caseload heh

edit2: i realized this may come off the wrong way, i mean it more as good luck that you hear good news from the other schools of your choice and also try to persuade u to lean towards penn haha

it's true that penn has a larger caseload than cornell - naturally, as it is in a much more densely populated area - but current and future applicants should know that cornell just (like, this week) opened a satellite small-animal hospital outside of NYC. it is my understanding that cornell students will be able to do clinical rotations there in addition to the hospital in ithaca. because of its location, caseload is expected to be at least comparable to penn's once it's "off the ground." we're all pretty excited about it. 🙂 check it out: http://www.vet.cornell.edu/CUVS/CUVS.cfm

Sorry to perpetuate this deviation from acceptances, but this post (with all its edits) cracked me up!

The funny part about the environment issue is that I might actually go to Cornell or UPenn (if I even get in), over Davis (if I even get in) for the sake of a completely different environment. I've lived in Los Angeles county my entire life, and going to a graduate school on the east coast might be really good for me... expand my world beyond California... the cold will certainly be a shock though! I would definitely miss winterless CA...

CSU was definitely my first choice, but I was offered scholarships at WSU and OSU. Super exciting but now some serious decision making! Any thoughts/advice? I need some good questions to ask when I go visit! 🙂

For those of you waiting to hear from K-State, don't be alarmed if you get a small envelope! When I saw the little white envelope, I was sure that there would be a rejection letter inside. What a nice surprise!
 
What a fantastic surprise! I almost didn't even check the mail today because of the long icy walk to my mailbox and the thought that I wouldn't be getting anything interesting. I am so thrilled, but at the same time my decision making process has just gotten a lot harder. I love K-State for so many reasons😍! Third time really has been a charm for me.

I graduated the day before I interviewed and I just had my grad party this weekend.. my whole family was asking me "so when do you find out?" and I just kept saying, oh I won't know for another month or so! lo and behold the letter was actually in the mail!
And I didn't even read the letter for about 10 minutes after I opened it. I saw congratulations and started my happy dance lol

Congrats on all of the acceptances!!! Iowaworker did your letter from Michigan come to your permenant address? I listed my college adress (which is too far away to check & won't forward:scared:) as my current address and then my parents home as my permenant address. I don't go back to school til Monday and waiting is driving me crazy :xf:.
 
They said that they wouldn't send anything out until the first week of February but I just got a letter today with my acceptance! It doesn't even feel real yet! I was waiting for my Tufts rejection and saw it in the mail first and then saw this and was like whatever Tufts!!

I'm really going to be a veterinarian! No more what ifs and telling everyone that I'm hoping to get into vet school. I did get into vet school!!!!! 😀

I interviewed on January 9th and the letter was dated January 12th. They told us during the pizza/information session that they would be mailing out letters the first week of February so I was shocked to see the large envelope in the mail today. Heck, I'm still in shock and will be for a long time!

Sure--I don't mind. I'm going to post all my stats in the successful applicants thread when I hear back from all my schools but:
Cum GPA: 3.6 (in a totally unrelated major so I'm not sure they really looked at this.)
Sci GPA: 3.28 (I was asked about my low science GPA and whether I thought I could manage the course load particularly since, as a post-bacc, I wasn't taking any of these courses full-time (although I am working full-time) and still could only manage a few A's)
I'll post more in the successful applicants thread later but hopefully this will give you hope--I know I was disheartened with all the 4.0s when I first joined.
GRE- Verbal 640 Quant 640 Writing 4.5
I was told I would need a higher Quant. score with my science GPA--but the GRE is/was hard for me so I tried again and ended up canceling the scores and then just said--screw it, I'll just give it a shot this year! (albeit an expensive shot)

Cum GPA: 3.6 (in a totally unrelated major so I'm not sure they really looked at this.)
Sci GPA: 3.28 (I was asked about my low science GPA and whether I thought I could manage the course load particularly since, as a post-bacc, I wasn't taking any of these courses full-time (although I am working full-time) and still could only manage a few A's)
I'll post more in the successful applicants thread later but hopefully this will give you hope--I know I was disheartened with all the 4.0s when I first joined.
GRE- Verbal 640 Quant 640 Writing 4.5
I was told I would need a higher Quant. score with my science GPA--but the GRE is/was hard for me so I tried again and ended up canceling the scores and then just said--screw it, I'll just give it a shot this year! (albeit an expensive shot)
