Sure--I don't mind. I'm going to post all my stats in the successful applicants thread when I hear back from all my schools but:
Cum GPA: 3.6 (in a totally unrelated major so I'm not sure they really looked at this.)
Sci GPA: 3.28 (I was asked about my low science GPA and whether I thought I could manage the course load particularly since, as a post-bacc, I wasn't taking any of these courses full-time (although I am working full-time) and still could only manage a few A's)
I'll post more in the successful applicants thread later but hopefully this will give you hope--I know I was disheartened with all the 4.0s when I first joined.
GRE- Verbal 640 Quant 640 Writing 4.5
I was told I would need a higher Quant. score with my science GPA--but the GRE is/was hard for me so I tried again and ended up canceling the scores and then just said--screw it, I'll just give it a shot this year! (albeit an expensive shot)

Thank you for the congrats--and I can't wait to congratulate all of you. In response to the stats--I didn't mean to make this thread all about me--I will just say that I had been told that I didn't have a very good shot this year and was just pleasantly surprised to find I did (and hopefully that is encouraging to others)--Tuckervet--yes I am in the post-bacc at Penn---are you by chance in it as well? 🙂

The stuff that shows up in your mailbox. So named because it's so damned slow. Moreso when it's vet school stuff. It's a law of the universe that any and all communications to and from a vet school sent via snail mail will take 2.54 times longer than something dumb like a phone bill.

A thread usually shows up over the summer for people to exchange them, and most successful applicants are really touchy about just handing them over to anyone. My recommendation: establish yourself a bit on the forum, contribute, and then closer to the fall some folks might be willing to share.

👍 Additionally most people are more willing to help edit or give feedback on something you've already started rather than just showing people what has worked for them. Personal statements are, well, personal and what works for one person might not work for another. I know the urge to have something that has worked for someone else is strong, (I had it too!) but it can sometimes be hard to be original if you have a sort of template in front of you.

my advice would be to work on your PS and come summer let a bunch of us read it and give you our advice, which you can then feel free to take or trash, but try to do it without someone elses PS in front of you.

I know it's hard to start but you can do this. Tell a story about yourself.

Will be making up a rough draft in the next couple weeks, then will work on it myself some (it will probably need lots of work) and then exchange over the summer with others hopefully. I have one person to exchange with already 🙂. Just have to get mine written!

Thank you! Yup, pulled me aside to go over something on my application, which might have been an excuse to just say I passed the test... not sure if they do that with everyone or not, I could have sworn they said they'd send emails in a week or two, so it was a lovely surprise 😀

Anyway, I wish Oregon could be a contender, but 4 years of OOS tuition, and not enough specialists on the faculty is too big a concern for me. They say they have a required rotation in shelter med where each student gets to do 50-60 surgeries themselves which sounds awesome, but it's out of the area, so it quickly becomes less awesome when you have pets. Dangit! Oregon is one of my favorite states!

Of all places, I expected a rejection from Oregon. Go figure! So......how long do I have to decide? AHHHHHHHH!

Well, if it's true that they have accepted 63 people for 16 positions (an assinine way of doing things IMO), than I'd say you have very little time to decide. Congrats tho'! Awesome accomplishment!

I had a feeling that email was too good to be true. Thanks for the info!! (I guess my backup plan may not be too far off target - I was planning on reapplying if Oregon was my only acceptance...) Should I just fill out the decline offer now???

Why did you bother applying? Turning down an acceptance could be looked at poorly on your future applications and I wouldn't want to see that jeopardize your chances

Thanks, cowgirla! :bang::bang: I know. I've been mentally kicking myself since I submitted my VMCAS apps. Honestly. I still want to consider Oregon seriously, but I'd been mentally prepared to get a white envelope with a "THANKS, BUT..." stamp on it. I'm still in shock really. I'd LOVE to go out to the campus & make sure it would be the best fit for me (being a full-time student this semester makes that a wee bit dicey...). But, now I'm worried about accepting Oregon's offer and ditching my #1 choice.... I really truly appreciate your advice. I don't want to seem ungrateful or fickle but...this is how my heart feels right now. I wouldn't want to take someone's spot at Oregon if my heart wasn't totally in it.

I don't think you need to make a decision until the April 15th deadline (as far as I know). Usually you need to make a deposit to hold your space in the class, so do the deposit and wait to hear back from Tufts. If you end up getting into Tufts, all you'll have lost is your deposit. If not, then you're still going to vet school in the fall!

I'll make you a deal - If I get into Tufts, want to see if we can trade acceptances? 😉 Oregon was my first choice!

Thanks, NStarz. I've been doing a lot of soul searching in the past 36 hours (or so). You make excellent points, but I am worried with Oregon because they offered more offers than they have spots for OOS. So......😕
