Hi everyone:
I was flipping through this site and saw this thread. You all sound like a nice bunch. How is everyone going to celebrate sunday? If I get in I really won't be able to have a good time until exams are over. Maybe afterward, if I get in, I will have a barbecue with some good friends. Anyway, I'll be counting down along with you all. Oh and add me to the group that ranked utsa #1.

They are family freindly (I have one), invest a lot in their program and are very helpful/nice in general. Being in Lubbock is the school's biggest issue. Most students and high profile faculty want to be in a big city. With so few students wanting to go here, I can't figure out how Tech gets the respecable #'s the have (29MCAT, 3.65GPA). They also have a multicampus system which means you could end up in El Paso or Odessa? in yrs 3 and 4. I get prioriy to stay in Lubbock since I have a family. It works out best for me because of cost of living (I bought a beautiful house for $103k) and public schools (nearly all are Blue Ribbon or "Recognized") for my family while I'm not working.
If not for my family situation, I would probably taken a shot at Baylor or UTH, but TTU is fine school and like most things in life, it is what you make of it. Step 1 and 2 will have more to do with residency matches than your school, but all other things being equal, a higher ranked school will help.

this is nikki. i volunteered with you at Children's Hospital-austin last year. congratulations on being accepted to tech. i know what you mean about the location of tech. i liked the school when i interviewed there....but the location was a problem. well, this weekend i will find out if i matched to any school. keep in touch.

Naw I'm not really TOO worred about it. I'm sure things will sort out on Sunday. I would just be more comfortable knowing what these verification dates ment. 😉
Under section J of the status of application page their is a section that ask if you are planning on completing any more course work after your application is finished. So, if say you took classes in the Fall semester and haven't submitted your new transcripts, maybe that is what they are waiting for. Or if you have, maybe they just havent got around to verifying your new info into the computer yet. I don't think this will affect anything with the match, but maybe afterwards when you are ready to matriculate. 🙂 🙂 🙂

The registrar from my school sent out the transcript before the last grade was recorded.
I had finished all my interviews and was living large. Then I check my application in mid-October and notice a big hole in the grade slot for my last biology pre-req.
Ouch.
Sent in another transcript.
It could have been a more gut-wrenching shock if I hadn't noticed the hole until Feb.

I see where it says TMDSAS and the school you will attend need your final transcript before you matriculate, but does it say that they need it before you match? I couldn't find that anywhere. Help?

In the "Status of Application" page, it says "N" under Fall 2003 transcript. But, it also says "N" under Spring 2004 transcript, which, of course, is not possible yet. So I think I'm okay. I just need to send it in before I matriculate. Is that right?

Yes, STAC... please call. 🙂 Hehe... I sure hope they don't need those transcripts for the match... at least that's what I tell myself because I sure haven't sent my fall one in! I think you probably just need to have all your transcripts in before matriculation... and I do have a verified date of 1/6/04 whatever that means.

Maybe I can at least clear up one of these two issues goading your obviously very perplexed pre-medical student minds:
I was looking back on the TMDSAS web site a while ago and remember seeing a message for last year's matriculating class about if you have already matched and you haven't sent in all of your grades --yada yada--then you must do so immediately--not sure if they intended that as far back as the fall grades but I'm sure it's all the same. I wouldn't worry too much about it, if it was going to affect your match---to be quite frank, it is a little too late to do anything about it now.
As for the other thing about the verification and what not, Do you guys really think that ours is the first class to notice that? Don't you think TMDSAS is smarter than that? And I do recall that someone has already contacted them about this and the response was that it had no relevance towards the match.

Sorry y'all had to wait, I had a meeting to go to. I did just get off of the phone with Austin. She said that they are currently working on the Validation date because it does have to do with getting your transcripts together and checking them...that is what I thought she was saying. So, if in section J of the Application status you have said you were going to take Fall or Spring classes, then you MUST update your application with them EVEN AFTER you MATCH! She said that we are theirs UNTIL we matriculate and our records must be current and verified.
She also said that the schools have long decided to accept you without these grades and this won't affect the match.
She also said that they are constantly updating students applications and sending that info on to the schools.
So...in my opinion, if you bombed the Fall semester, then send in your grades AFTER match.

I have been keeping up with this thread for a while. I thought I would finally join in the discussion. Umm...I am from Dallas and would like to go to Southwestern. My friends think I am crazy because I started a count down for this in July. Still, I have tried to stay relaxed about this and pretend like February 1st is Christmas day. My attitude is...why think about the worst? In spite of that, I am still tossing and turning constantly at night. I also keep having some very strange dreams. So anyway, I wish the best of luck to everyone, and I hope to finally meet some of you in medical school, wherever we all end up going!

Is it just my browser, or does TMDSAS have the ugliest webpage you've ever seen?
It's funny how my impressions of the TX schools were shaped by their webpages. Until I could go visit them, I didn't have much else to go on.
Also interesting that now my #1 school ends up having the worst website. (UTHSCSA)

I agree. UTHSCSA is my first choice, however, you can't find that much info unless you want to download the school catalog.
