To all you peeps racking up the interviews...did you have your chair letter/other letters/transcript in already? Our school doesn't release transcripts, dean's letters, and chair letters until the end of october.
Haven't heard back from any of the programs i applied to (9/15)...i know october is the big time to hear but hearing about all the invites get the rest of us slackers a little nervous 🙂

I had my CAF, Personal Statement, Transcript, USMLE Step 1 and 2 Scores, and my Departmental/Chair's Letter in. (I got a small flood of invites after they got that letter, so that might be pretty important.
Also, Just got UC - Irvine and Cleveland Clinic Florida Today.

Congrats Ucla!!!!!
Just compiling the list of invites, and attaching the excel sheet with the names, programs, and brief notes people included. May be a little sloppy (I don't know all the program names & locations, and may have missed info given in multiple posts, and didn't have time to bold program names, etc)

Ok - it doesn't like excel files, or big tables. So, here is a file as posted, and one with tabs if someone else wanted to either clean the list further, check out the notes (which I didn't post), or if you wanted to start compiling info like Stats (scores, etc) or date you are interviewing...

hey thanks for doing this...it's pretty cool and wonder who i'll meet on the interview trail...i guess you are either studying for boards or something cause this is a GREAT way to waste/kill time
is there anyway you can keep this going and add on as more people submit their stuff....just curious
hehe. MSTP student whose research is falling apart so might as well cruise SDN 🙂medlaw06 said:hey thanks for doing this...it's pretty cool and wonder who i'll meet on the interview trail...i guess you are either studying for boards or something cause this is a GREAT way to waste/kill time![]()

But, I just set it up in the format that others use (like, pre-allo, or MSTP, etc). Usually, they just gopy and paste the whole list and add their name and/or program in the appropriate slot.
My main motivation (selfishly) is that I wanted to get a handle on where people were interviewing, since I hope to be in the class of '07 going into IM (although if I keep messing around on SDN, it'll probably be '08). That's kinda why adding the stats might be nice (last year, some people actually posted their ROL as it got closer to match).
I got an invite from the big T (Temple).
Stats:
USMLE Step I: 245
USMLE STEP II CS: Not taken
USMLE Step II CK: Not taken
Not AOA at Top 20 school
Basic Science:Mostly Pass, some honors
Honors: every core rotation except HP in pediatrics
2 research publications
No away rotations
Interviews:
Emory (email)
Washington Univresity (email)
University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (email)
Baylor (email)
UTSW (email)
Good luck to everyone on the interview trail

No matter how hard one works on a research project, publishable results are never guaranteed. Science (especially undiscovered science) doesn't always go according to plan or the way you want it to. Doesn't mean BBB wasn't productive. He'd have tons of interesting things to talk about on his interview, at the very least! Not to mention the valuable research skills that would help him function at a more advanced level in future research endeavors. 3 presentations. . .were those at national conferences? If so, that's quite an accomplishment! Very productive if you ask me. Good going BBB! 👍
for the converse perspective, often mickey mouse projects can offer a quick and easy publication.
I take it you haven't done much research pickybicky. 😉

Chicamedica, I couldn't have said it better myself. Not that I feel I owe an explanation to pickybicky (who I suspect is a troll), but since you asked, my presentations were at one international meeting and two regional meetings. We recently learned of a new statistical technique that will likely improve the quality of our manuscript, so I made the choice to wait a bit longer and publish a better study. To me, that is more important than pushing it out the door just to beef up my residency application.

This is reaching the limit of what I'll feasibly be able to accomplish during interview season. I applied to too many programs.
FYI: My application is not particularly stellar. I don't fake enthusiasm and refuse to kiss ass, and our grades are almost entirely based on subjective evaluations (no shelf exams here), so my clerkship grades won't get anybody excited. I did present research at a national conference, and my step 1&2 scores were very good. My extra-curricular activites are zilch. I go to a solid but unspectacular state school. On paper, I'm average enough that my clerkship director warned me I probably wouldn't get interviews at places like UT-Southwestern. Moral of story: apply anyway.
I think the determining factor for interviews, is based solely on step 1 or step 2 grades...
I really doubt anything else matters...

I really doubt this is true. Just look back at some threads from last year and you'll see that some people with 240+ scores still didn't get interviews at places like MGH or Hopkins, while others with 220's not only got interviews, but then matched there! It's about a LOT more than the scores, even in terms of interview invites. I'm sure every program is different, but I don't think it's fair to say that, generally, board scores are what determine where you get interviews (at least not for IM programs; maybe for fields like ortho or derm though)
I think that is somewhat true, but I think there is some subjectivity to the process. I did relatively poorly on step I and decently well on step II and still managed to get an interview at UTSW (shocked me a bit to tell the truth). I think my medicine "chair"/department letter made a difference since I got many a couple of days after it was released. I also had some extracurricular stuff that was interesting. But as far as my grades and scores, they are very mediocre.
