Well I guess a lot depends on your interview. The fact that you're Canadian may make it a bit harder. Time will tell. Good luck

I had an interview with them yesterday and they said that only approximately 70 seats are taken so there are still a lot of spots available. 🙂

I haven't received a phone call yet my Midwestern page updated about a half an hour ago to accepted!!!! 😀

Yay got the call this morning too!! I've been waiting to post this for so long! Good luck to everyone else!

I interviewed on 11th, didnt hear anything yet? is that mean rejection ? 🙁

Hello everyone and congrats!!! I just got my acceptance today and can't wait to start!!! It was a long process but finally in and glad to be apart of the Midwestern family!!!

does anyone know anything about this background check?? it said we have to pay 150 bucks?

Yea background check shouldn't cost more than about 50 bucks if your record is clean.

Hi everyone! Just got the call on Tues and can't wait to start! Glad to be apart of the Midwestern family! Did everyone fill out the background check and pay the 150? I wasn't sure if we were supposed to do that or if it was already included in the aadsas fee! Also too, has anyone gone looking for apartments? I was hoping to find a two bed/two bath close to campus for any reasonable price. Has anyone looked at anything close? Thanks for the help and see you all soon!

I'm IN!!!!!!!! i interviewed on 02/11 as well 🙂

Did anyone get to see the apartments that are on campus? If so are they worth trying to get into?

Congratz to everyone who has made it! =D It looks like almost everyone who posted got in!!!

I have an interview coming in about 2 weeks time...and I am super nervous. It's in March so I am assuming that there's not that much spaces left? Could it be that I am interviewing for waitlist? Does anyone know how full the class is right now?

All I know is that MWU-IL is probably my only offer this time around and I really want to get it in! It looks like such an awesome school to be in! =D

Hey everybody that has interviewed at MWU IL should fill out the survey under interview feedback. Nothing is posted yet about our school because there haven't been enough surveys, so do one if you haven't yet to help everyone out that wants to join us! 🙂

Just wondering.. did everyone get an acceptance 'package' or an acceptance 'letter'? I always thought we should be getting a big fat package, but instead only received a 2-page letter.

yep, I also got just a 2-page acceptance letter. I figured they would send another fat package out in a few months.

Hi everyone , congrats on your acceptance.
i interviewed on 2/11 as well group 1 but just received a letter that i have placed on the alternate list 🙁 Has anyone else put on an alternate list? does anyone know how many people they usually put on alternate list? Is there any hope?
Thank you

Hey all! MWU-IL was my first interview and I was pretty nervous since I hadn't turned in all my materials until late October. But the interview went well I guess with the five different people in 8 minute scenarios as I got accepted on the 23rd. They were really friendly especially Dr. Weinstein. Apparently the deposit is due by March 28th. Does anyone know how much that is?
It looks like a really good program and being part of the initial class should be pretty exciting. At the time of my interview they said they were about 60% full which would equate to about 75 of 125 filled. Since then they've probably made 25+ offers but that doesn't mean everyone will accept. So, for all you late interviewees, there's still plenty of hope as they said they may be taking people all the way until late summer. Good luck to all and remember to thank them with an email after you interview and tell them what you liked about their program!

Deposit is $1,000. Be sure to log into your MWUnet in order to e-submit the proper information. Congrats!

Congrats to everyone who has received an offer! Maybe I'll be joining you! I have an interview March 10th and reading through this thread has been so helpful!! I was wondering...is there any way to prepare for the ethical questions that will be asked? In other words, is it crucial to be up to date on all problems facing the field, changes that will occur in the future, and what we think about them? Trying to get a handle on my nerves so any feedback would be great!

There really is no way to prepare!!! Just be yourself and relax. The questions vary from time to time but these are the ones I had...
-Why dentistry?
-If you were recently married and you couldn't afford furniture and your in-laws offered on buying you expensive furniture from the rainforest that would last a long time, what are the pros and cons?
-Under what circumstances would you steal a piece of bread?
-Describe a situation in which you had to make a decision quickly with little information.
-Should dental students get more funding from the government than law and engineering students?
.... I don't think there are right or wrong answers they just want to make sure you can communicate well. Be outgoing and yourself and you'll be fine!

Has anyone been checking out housing? If so can you let me know. Thanks

just out of curiosity... who was accepted to other dental schools but are choosing to attend MWU-IL?

Hi guys, congrats on all of you getting in and those waiting hopefully it works out for you too!!

I was wondering if anyone can give me a detailed outline on how the interview process works. This is my one and only interview and I realllllyyyy hope i get in so any type of information would be so helpful 👍🙂

AND CONGRATS AGAIN GUYS!!! HOPE TO POST SOME GOOD NEWS IN THE FUTURE LOL😀

J07, i was about to post the same thing! I have an interview in 2 weeks and need all the help I can get.

Congrats everyone for getting an acceptance!! I could really use some input on how the interview went. I know people have called it a , 'speed dating' type of interview but what questions were asked? im assuming why dentistry- why MWU-IL...etc werent asked....so confused how to prepare for this one.

Feel free to private message me regarding the interview...

I don't mean to be *****hole guys, but scroll up like 2 posts above your question. Someone was kind enough to post all of the questions that they were asked at the interview.

I have my interview on March 25th.

do i still have a good chance?

for those of people who had an interview recently, what did MWU-IL say about the availability of the seats? thanks!

and good luck to everyone and i really wish to study MWU-IL this year!

So are you saying that the questions they posted are identical to the questions they asked you???

J07, you won't get the same set of questions. I had an interview in November and these are mine.

1. If Midwestern-IL decides to be environmentally friendly by banning smoking on campus and give preference to non-smoking applicants. Is it an effective strategy? Why or why not? (follow-up question: Assume that you are a smoker and you tell all your patients not to smoke. A patient then notices yellow stain on your nails and asks why you told them not to smoke when you are a smoker. How do you handle this question?)

2. How do you prepare for an academic event such as test and exam?

3. Is/are there any non-academic activities you're involved right now?

4. There is a quote about education that I don't remember exactly but I can summarize it for you. Education is not confining to memorization but to differentiate what you know from what you don't know. Explain how you would apply this to your curriculum at dental school.

5. What do you know about the Midwestern dental college in Downers Grove?

Good luck
