Thanks guys! I only wish I could find out what I did wrong so that I won't make the same mistake for Virginia. But the email said I can't call until April 30th. :-( I'll just have to keep being myself!

I'm sorry krh :( I'm in the exact same position, 3 rejections, still waiting on OK. I know it sucks, but just keep chugging along. A lot of applicants don't get in on their first or even second cycle. Use your disappointment as fuel to make the changes you need to and come back even stronger next year!
 
Hang in there who are having a tough cycle! You guys still have schools to hear from!! I know personally the worst case scenario is reapplying next year, and I am in that process right now. I wont say its fun and right now I am so impatient with this whole process this year... but I realized last year that I should use the frustration and distress to push forward and make the next cycle's application improved to the point schools would take me more seriously, just in case I didnt get in.

I know its hard, but if your worried about having to reapply, then nows the time to start thinking about getting additional/diversifying experience, getting more volunteer hours (possibly at new places), taking more upperlevel science courses and rocking them, retake the GRE, and if your crazy like me... move to a state that will be more likely to accept you as an IS applicant.

I hate seeing this thread and I really know the feeling :( ...and I know KSU and VMRCVM (which is still technically IS for me :eek:) will be rejecting me later this application cycle (almost guaranteed)... but I know this is what I want to do for my life, and I bet you know it too :) ...

Hang in there guys... I applied 3 times, received around 17 rejections and am now hanging out in vet school... it will happen just have to be persistent and a bit stubborn... ;)

Same here! 3rd time applicant. Don't even know how many rejections I have because I also had some rejections from some grad programs I applied to as Plan B. Lower GPA ~3.04. Only received one interview invite - that's all it takes! Just one YES :)

Currently sitting in first lecture of Immunology in second semester of first year :)

It can be done!
 
I am a 2nd time applicant as well...got 2 rejections w/o interview last year...this year is looking much better but I know how you all feel.

Keep your head up and like someone said, START THINKING ABOUT HOW TO IMPROVE NOW...Kstate def asked me at my interview what I did differently from last app cycle to this and to be able to say that I improved my GRE score (by a ton), a new experience and new LOR, and worked harder on my app felt good. Trust me, the time from now until next October will FLY BY and dont wait for file reviews to know what you could do better for the next cycle (if need be).

Im 2 interviews in, and still have 2 more to hear from...I didnt even get into my IS last year and got an interview as an OOS this year...it can happen! Stay positive and keep growing!!! :D:):D

Im already planning a new expeirence for the summer. If I get accepted, it will be fun and if I get rejected, one more experience! :)

Congrats Joanna! You're giving me a lot of hope if I don't get in this cycle! Any advice you can give with improving gre??
 
Yes, you guys are really making me feel better about this whole thing. If anything, I find it most difficult to explain to my family and friends that its okay if I don't get in this year... They just don't get how difficult it is!
 
i emailed auburn asking when I can do a file review and they told me that with 900+ applicants for 40 spots they didn't consider anybody that had a gpa lower than a 3.5, i self reported a 3.55 but that was with two classes that i repeated and replaced the C's at my school with the A's i received the second attempt, at auburn they count every attempt which made my gpa a 3.47 so they didn't even look at the rest of my application

Actually studying helped me the 2nd go round :laugh:

I had taken the old GRE and then the new GRE and being able to mark, and go back and look at questions really helped me. I was extremely stressed about spending time on problems I had no shot of getting right and then missing easy ones that could get me points that I flew through the entire test in less than 2 hours my first time taking it. Second time was much better and I used the full amount of time going back, working through problems, and making educated guesses if I wasnt sure.

I bet you will have good news! :)

If they had written this on their webpage then I wouldn't have wasted my money applying. The webpage listed a 3.0 cumulative minimum for OOS so I foolishly applied thinking that my app would at least get LOOKED at. Silly me..

They can't really write something like that on their website though when they have taken below a 3.5 in the past. In vet school apps, they don't evaluate you based on a concrete set of numbers. They evaluate you based on their applicant pool for that given year. Since they recently increased the number of OOS spots available, you're going to have more OOS people apply and have a more diverse applicant pool. Each year is different. I've been wait listed at a school one cycle and rejected without interview the following cycle. It's really hit or miss, which is one of the parts of this whole process that sucks.

Something to remember for next year. You may want to look at all of the schools you are applying to and figure out which ones include all courses taken for the GPA and make sure your report accordingly. My pre vet advisor told me to make sure that i did not made mistakes in the VMCAS listing the classes i had taken or the GPA section because if you do it is an excuss to "throw" the application out. With so many people applying they dont need to look at someone that doesn't get the information correct.

Well shoot. I was planning on applying there next year but if they count the classes that you retook they definitely won't look at me. I couldn't find that info. on their website either...

What??? I mean... WHAT!?!?!? That is so not fair.. I hope that you were misinformed.. (I'm sure not the case, but WHAT the heck.) I reported a GPA of 3.49. If they didn't consider my application because I was .01 under their imaginary cut off, I'll be sorely disappointed. I'm in the same boat as you with a course repeat.. However, I included that within my GPA (because UIUC includes it when calculating graduating gpa's). I thought that my application was really good for what kind of applicants they were looking for. I haven't received a rejection letter yet, but I'm expecting one now. :cry: I really wish there would have been a red flag before I submitted my application. I was so careful this year to only apply to schools that I thought I had a chance (even if it was slight) of getting in to. BUMMER
 
Well crud, that dampens my day. I have a 3.5 exactly (listed on my transcript, but are they calculating gpas differently?). Now terrified of my email.

On the Auburn Vet web site on the statistics page it says "* NOTE: GPA Calculations include EVERY attempt made at a class. "

This is by far the worst part (I suffered through three cycles). The rejection was always worse because you live through it and then have to suffer trough the sympathy and let down in the eyes of your friends and family.

One thing I can say is once you do get in it will be repaid 50 fold. Every time my dad tells one of his doctors I'm in vet school they all congratulate him on having such a smart daughter because 'its sooooo hard to get into veterinary school' (and then my dad tells me and I get a huge ego boost :D). And remember that your friends/family aren't ashamed of you! Mostly they are just sad to see you let down because they care for you. So keep your chin up! YOU know it's incredibly hard and so do all of us so just keep that in mind. I absolutely empathize and hope you get good news soon!
